Thats why 1st Edition Killteam was so much better. It was basically just 8th Edition of 40K but treating each mini like an individual unit.
2nd Edition Killteam’s rules are actually *far* more complex rules than 10th and is harder to learn than 10th. (As far as basic rules are concerned at least, not concerning army specific rules)

Both is always good, it may not seem like it but sometimes taking some breaks in the bigger games for a smaller skirmish game can help.
Also, if you prefer narrative play it can be a fun way to have a kill team mission that unlocks an extra buff for one of your crusade units if you win the game etc. I have done this in 9th and it worked wonders

I want to play Kill Team because it's less intimidating to buy just 10 models

This is honestly it's biggest pro, I love a lot of 40K models but not enough to run them in an army. Kill Team helps with that

I’m gonna call you on Killteam 2nd Edition being simpler and easier to learn than 10th Edition. Its fewer models than 10th Edition but its 3-4 times as complex, and as someone who played Killteam 1st Edition, 40K 9th Edition, and now plays 40K 10th Edition, Killteam 2nd is *by far* the most complicated and difficult to learn.
Heck, I’ve seen 1000+ word arguments on things as supposedly simple as asking “is this model in cover or obscured?” Its a shame because I *loved* Killteam 1st Edition, probably as much as I now like 10th Edition 40K, and I want to like how 2nd Edition runs, but its just too complicated to be worth it.
I have taught 4 people how to play 40K by myself. I learned how to play basically just by watching Battle Reports. All 4 of the people I taught could play a 500 point game in 30 minutes, and could play without help at all after 2-3 games.
Heres hoping they make Killteam 3rd Edition soon and apply the things they learned from 40K 10th Edition to the 2nd Edition system.

I don't know, maybe it's just a ruleset my brain likes more but 40K, even in 10th, always feels more complex. I also learned this during 9th so maybe that is a bit of a bias that still stands, mainly because I haven't had to teach anyone 10th yet
