I really do love videos like this. I appreciate the optimism the presenter uses when describing legion units and rules. Not just in this video, but generally in all those I’ve watched so far. Also just got my first unit of BX’s, keen to run them with Shields, Sniper, and Situational Awareness, with Kalani staying close for Strategising.
At my hobby shop, guys seem to be focusing on making them range 4+ monster gunlines. The surge ability makes commandos always pierce from far away and magnaguard can use rockets until they dont feel like it anymore. You get chipped away and gunned down just trying tonget into shooting range, much less melee. Droidekas only increase the defensive turrent strategy. Its gotten to the point where guys in my group are saying a nerf is coming.
As a new cis player thanks for breaking this down. I had no idea if it was worth me trying to play this list. I've only got 1 unit of magna guard and 2 units of commandos so I'm thinking not lol
I played this multiple times and I am really disappointed in the magnas. The only way I like to play them is with kraken and bx with vibroswords for full melee. In a gunline situation they are soo expensive for still being a fragile unit. Totally agree on the snail. If you do the math on his offensive capabilities its weaker then the normal one, especially since the special battleforce rule doesnt even apply to heavies. Droidikas are actually really good in this list. My go to list is genericsupertactical+2b1,2b2,2BX,3droidkas for 10acts and it has great objective options with Breakthrough,Bombingrun,Recover the Supplies, Keypositions. But it isnt terrible on other objectives (i would only avoid payload and sabotage due this list not having bounty/forceuser/or much long range) and it can handle most deployments depending on terrain a bit. Definitly recommand it

I think you missed that the base squad of the corps Magnas is 4 rather than 3 - meaning you get an extra body for 12 less points.
That was a big miss, considering I played them as 3's... Makes all the nerfs a little bit better lol
sure 4 guys but you lose 2 wounds, and with no surge the offence is wrst even with the extra guy

It can be if your opponent is ok with proxies, and running some B1's and B2's is still a lot of fun to get the unique buffs.
