Star Wars Legion: Holiday Guide Clone Wars
I'm always looking for more coverage on this game, thank you for going over all the base gangs, Especially the Piranhas and the Wild Things! Would also love to see battle reports with these gangs.
Glad you enjoyed, battle reports may become possible in the future but it's kinda up in the air
Love when you get the time for Legion videos
My local group has once again restarted so expect more in the future.
I really like this format I’m very interested into multiple wargames. But I don’t want to fully invest into every single one. I just want enough to play. So this helps a lot.
Happy you enjoyed!
Technically its 2.6.
Technically lol
Thank you kindly for the video, I didm't know the GAR changed so much. Granted, I'll have to start all over, but at least now I have a clearer vision.
I don't think you'll have to start over that much, models are still the same so it's just learning about what changed
@Wargamerofalltrades oh yeah, let's say that I'm still very new and I was more referring to the synergies and ideas. With that being said, you saved me from making the wrong purchases, thank you so much!
Star Wars Lwfion is a great game but not popular, much higher pricing is not going to help increase market penetrative.
That's my same thought process, before it was much easier to recommend now not nearly as much
There's also the minis-agnostic game 'Rangers of shadow deep'. I haven't played it but I've looked at 'five leagues from the borderlands' too. In the same vein there's 'five parsec from home'.
I have heard of Rangers, I believe it's in one of my follow ups!
The shielding problem is a problem when you have impact as well.
How so? Impact seems to work as intended unless I read the rules wrong
I do believe shields are after dodge. Shields are used during the 'Modify attack dice' step (step 6 of attack sequence), in step 5 cover is applied.
Correct! Shields are after dodge and cover, before defense dice.
Well apparently I have been playing them wrong the entire time lol, thanks for pointing this out!
We printed out the attack timing page and keep it next to the table heh. We were cheating on dodge tokens for a long time :)
The price hike might have happened already? I was at a model shop not long ago, and AT-STs were more expensive than GW sentinels and knight armigers, and a groups of soldiers was more expensive per mini than space marines. It's odd because I keep hearing online how cheap Star Wars Legion is, but they aren't cheap compared to historicals or third party. Even the Aliens board game works out cheaper per mini. I assumed this was the shop, but prices online are similar.
The price hike locally for me is only new releases, but it sucks to hear that your experiencing it in full
Price increase is on the new models as WGOAT said. If prices have gone up on old models in your local store, that might just be the store doing that. At-st should be around $50-$60.
@@Raykrueger I don't know if they're new or old. I'm in the UK though. They were just what the shop had. I assume old as they're still selling Bolt Action 2nd edition, but they could be new as B1s were way cheaper than everything else. A AT-ST was £50 (not dollars), in comparison to 2 GW sentinels being £50, and £55 for 2 GW knight armigers. I checked online and found similar prices. I forget how much guys were. but it was something like £40 a box of 6 basic guys, compared to £40 for 10 GW space marines. Bolt Action minis for £35 for a box of 30. Less if you go with WGA or Perry. You could even go really cheap and buy a bunch of 12mm and play using cm instead of inches, but that's cheating a bit.
@@SabreXT When we say "new" we're referring to the SWQ* products, the ones with the new orange logos and such. Also, many models are out of stock right now, so who knows.
The video came just in time! Last year i really wanted to get into Legion and already planned out a GAR and Seperatist droid army to play against each other and then the news about 2.0 dropped. My army lists were useless and i felt like in a limbo state, not knowing if i should buy and play with the old rules anyway or to wait and see. Now i decided to wait until all the boxes and sets will come out in hard plastic since i do need to say that they really look waaay better to me and also should be easier to assamble and paint. Even with the price increase i am ready to wait a couple of years since i also dont want to mix and match old with new models in my armys but maybe thats just me. If the new system would have been bad i would have bought the old stuff and never looked back but since many people are saying its good I am more than ready to wait for reprints with hard plastic and good deals :) Thx for the video Would be lively if you could do another video in which you talk more in detail about these changes with in game examples ^^
I plan to make that video in the future, but with half the updates not having come out yet I don't want to make a video that will be out of date in 6 months
a rules remake? but i just learned the pre remake rules.
It's not all that different, the biggest change is the mission/cover system which are both improvements IMO, and the Rebel/Republic reworks
please more videos about cyberpunk combat zone
I will be making more in the Future for sure!
Perfect! ❤
The Cheapest and one of the best wargames to me for new people is Gaslands Refueled and Reign in Hell. Both absolutely awesome. If you already have some more terrain and encounters i would play Frostgrave or Forbidden Psalm. If you rather like Skirmishers with a few more units nothing is cheaper than turnip28 <3
As someone in the "absorbing info" stage of a new game, I enjoyed this and subscribed. I'm looking forward to more CpRCZ content!
Welcome aboard!
Really helpful video, thanks! I hope that you make a few follow ups, covering expansions like Chrome Jocks etc.
That's the plan, gives me an excuse to buy more :)
There’s not enough coverage for this fantastic game on youtube!
Planning on covering it more in the future, glad you enjoyed!
Mostly commenting for your engagement. Love this game, so I'm happy to see it get the analysis
Thanks for the comment!
Yes! This is going to help a lot for my future purchases!
Happy to help!
LOVE the Combat Zone videos!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you very much for this video! Wow, what a selection of great boxes! Really torn what to pick next :D Are the Danger Gals even newer than wild things or did they just not catch your attention. Thought about getting these for my daughter.
I don't wanna talk about it lol, I recorded and edited the danger gals segment, but it looks like I somehow cut it out and didn't notice it. I'll probably record a new intro and upload it as it's own video today.
Speaking from my own experience, Danger Gals are a powerhouse. Very mobile, and great with ranged guns and ranged explosives. They are not too complex to learn either, they're a great team to add to your table.
@@jettslicer I completely agree!
Lmao, the perfection of the timing of this video is funny
Accidental perfect timing is the best perfect timing
Thanks for the vid, cheers!
Happy you enjoyed!
The Crisis Protocol starter comes with terrain. You really only need 1 or 2 more pieces of terrain. And the Deadpool expansion comes with a taco truck 😂 The fastest and most optimal way to get started (imo) is... The New Starter Set: $120 (includes 11 characters & terrain) Deadpool Character Pack: $50 (2 characters and 1 terrain piece) SpiderWoman Character Pack: $40 (2 characters) Web Warriors expansion: $45 (4 characters) Sandman... pack: $55 (4 characters) Total: $300 But it gives you a ton of options! All of this gives you 23 characters for 6 affiliations: Avengers - Captain America, 1st Avenger - Captain Marvel, Cosmic - Invincible Iron Man - The Black Widow - Winter Soldier, Operative - Deadpool - Spider-Woman Sheild - Invincible Iron Man - Spectacular Spider-Man - The Black Widow - Winter Soldier, Operative - Spider-Woman - Agent Venom Web-Warriors - Spider-Man, Miles Morales - Ghost Spider - Spider-Man, Peter Paker - Venom - Spectacular Spider-Man - Spider-Woman - Agent Venom Cabal - Red Skull, Master of the World - Ultron, Metal Tyrant - Crossbones, Merciless Merc - Baron Helmut Zemo - Winter Soldier, Operative Hydra - Crossbones, Merciless Merc - Baron Helmut Zemo - Winter Soldier, Operative - Red Skull, Master of the World - Agent Bob - Spider-Woman Spider Foes - Dr Ock, Sinister Scientist - Sandman - Electro - Shocker - Vulture - Venom Considering you can splash other characters into your Affiliation lists, this gives you a ton of options. More than enough for 2 people to share. It's also enough for those 2 people to feild tournament competitive lists.
Thanks for this breakdown, MCP is probably the game I knew the least about coming into this, so it's good to have this for future reference
Check out Steel Rift The Quick Build box is only $45 If you want 2 full-size teams and terrain: Quick Build Box: $45 Starter Box: $80 Terrain Set: $60 Total: $185 for 2 Players That's only $92.50 each
Sector ALIX is pretty cool. Solo air pirates on another planet!
I find it difficult to try a wargame. If you try it out for yourself, starting from scratch is a lot of work. Learning rules, painting miniatures, building terrain, that's not something you do out of a whim. It is easier to play with someone who is already committed to the game.
You are right, it is easier to do that. But you can also use TTS to test out wargames, find one you like and be the guy who plays _____ Wargame!
Dropfleet should get a balance pass and a few more clarifications by the end of January. 2.0 came out with rough edges, but the new plastic models are fantastic--the sprues are much denser and the gates are in better placed. This gave both more options per hull type and a small effective price cut (shock! horror! awe!) And the fundamental concept of space combat in Dropfleet Commander is awesome.
Also, plastic battleship kits are coming! The existing battleships look fantastic, but resin is much harder to work with and much more susceptible to casting problems. The plastic kits should be a dream to assemble and we're going to get new battleship variants for everyone!
That's news I did not see, I can work with Resin but plastic is just better. Thanks!
@Wargamerofalltrades The preview is on the TTCombat channel here.
I recently found your channel and have been binging your videos. Great content and great list in this video. BLKOUT, This Quar's War. Combat Zone, and Flashpoint are on my radar. I have a good deal of Burrows and Badgers I need to paint, and I'm excited for the 2.0 rules coming out in a few months. The game at the top of my list right now though is 1490 Doom. Simple, small scale skirmish game with unique gameplay and fascinating lore. I recommend taking a look at it as they are planning on doing a Kickstarter and wider release later this year.
Thanks, I'll be sure to take a look at it!
Missed Clash of Rhyfles, This Quars War. Full game for $79
I mentioned it in my follow up, it is a very good game!
@Wargamerofalltrades yeah it is!
Midgard is super fun!
Happy new year! Had not heard of Midgard, but will check it out. Cyberpunk and gangs of rome sounds interesting aswell. Never got into dropship commander, but always wanted to, so hopefully this year and the new rules will be the year where i start. Also hope to get a couple of games of chain of command, warmaster revolution, sw legions, onpagerules and one or more of the rampant games, next year. Conquests scale seems a bit too big for regiment base games for me, but would like to try out the rules et some day. If the rules are good, maybe I will make a few warmaster scale armies for it, as the lore seems cool.
All of those games are very good and worth your time! I would love to hear about how a warmaster scale conquest works, if you do end up doing it let me know!
Saga is a great game system. Love the exhaustion system. Drop fleet was okay for me, not my favorite. I love infinity so ill be skipping the other sci-fi skirmish. Konflict models are pretty mental. Ill check out the redwall type game and the fantasy agnostic you talked about. I have GW demons so i am down for whatever
That's fair, sometimes Skirmish games can feel a little samey. I'm happy I clued you into new systems!
Saga is Great!
You will see more out of This Quar's War from Wargames Atlantic offered by Gator Games and Books.
I do like Quars war, but I feel like it's already pretty well covered
Gotta say I really enjoyed the little talk wobble. That is all.
I enjoy it as well! It's the closest I can get to the slime jiggle
Solid List :] happy wargaming in 2025. I am looking for the new Saga Book.
Gervasio, i bought Cyberpunk Combat zone on my work trip to the usa after remembering you always suggesting it. Well, after trying it twice i feel bad for not buying more stuff for it.
Great to hear! Happy you enjoy it, and hopefully you get a chance to get more stuff without taking a trip to the US
Love the list. SAGA and Dropfleet are definitely on my list of things to check out going into the new year. I have BLCKOT and CLAK, but I have to finish the minis and get a game in this year
I hope to join you with BLCKOUT this year, I proxy tested the system but haven't bought the minis yet, and I am really looking forward to it!
Can confirm, Conquest is well worht your time. My favourite day of the week is when I get to go to the LGS to run the recurring open play night!
I have a feeling I'll be that person within the next year if we still don't have a local group. Edit: Also I just realized who you are, I love your videos!
Great! I'm excited to try Blackout thanks to this video! For mecha mini agnostic game, I recommend Mecha Bardagulan Tabletop
I will look into it, mecha is totally up my alley and I have never heard of this game before!
@Wargamerofalltrades You can use models from many different scales and not limited to a specific franchise or series. The rules are also free. If allowed this is the playlist for it: ua-cam.com/play/PL11QGpB7yKcCujmcaQcActrqLxeK1ycd9.html&si=prFhBG5ACwpwfGfy There are battle reports in there. Hope you'll like it! I personally play it with my friends, family and co-workers that had no previous wargaming experience 😁
Conquest is my favorite Fantasy Wargame. It is awesome just for the awesome miniatures.
I totally agree! I am torn between which faction to start
Minis are awesome, and lore aswell, but the scale seems a bit too big for me. When I win the lottery, ill probably buy some of the minis, just to paint them (:
@@andersand6576 It's bigger but not that much bigger. It works on the regular table and terrain is also unproblematic.
Good list! I knew most, but not all. Here are my favourites from 2024 + stuff Im looking forward: Carnevale, Punkapocalyptic, Rumbleslam, Bushido, Moonstone,Trench Crusade, Middle Earth, Drowned Earth, Guild Ball, Warmaster Revolution
A very solid list!
Hoping for a few games of warmaster evolution next year. Think there will be printable options for most armies next year.
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Mantic will expand Halo further if it sells well. I don't know if it'll be necessarily successful if they expand it out though. Reason I say this is because their current approach with their starter sets has players setting up their squads through a draft system, which they're going to get rid of in wave 2 when they introduce points values and building that way. It feels like the X-Wing approach, which was a lot of peoples first minis game, but they were die hard fans who never strayed from the base game and format. But then again, we'll see!
I am hoping! It would make a childhood dream come true, and I'm willing to support the already good system they have right now!
Thank you for this video! I was really interested in this game and your synopsis stocked my interest even more. Just one question: I saw none of the content you planned to do on this channel? Have you lost interest in the game or was there just so much other stuff? This is no complaint - just want to know if in the long run the system could not keep up with your initial enthusiasm or life just happened.
So in the long run this system has completely kept my interest, I have backed the vehicle kickstarter, pre-ordered the Edgerunners combat zone box, and own most of the gangs. The main reason I haven't made content on this yet is i took a probably way to long break from youtube, and I have at least one video planned for the game system In Janaury, and another once the Edgerunners Combat Zone Box Comes out
Comparing Apples to Warthogs here buddy. "Do they keep their value..." ugh. What a redundant question, and frankly useless analysis. Seriously, outside of youtube clicks, what will this acheive?? Is the discount of the contents vs their individual MSRP as good as it used to be? No. Is the value as good? Well, value was, it and always will be subjective. Honestly, I hate these videos that go on about GW prices. Either you get value from it, or you don't. The fundamental goal of literally EVERY business is to extract as much money from their customer for the 'Value proposition' (i.e. their products and services). This is business 101. If you don't get value as a customer, you don't buy it. If a company can raise prices and still make record sales, then they are not charging 'too much' as clearly the market still gets value. This is a hobby, and whilst it is a meme to dump on GW for 'being expensive', many MANY hobbies are far more expensive (and many are cheaper). What irks me is that people seem to act so damned entitled to 'cheap' hobbies, and blame GW for simply being successful and popular - I mean, they are selling out to the point they have had to build ANOTHER new warehouse to keep up with demand, and put prices up to stem demand, and are still not shying away people. The absolute grim reality is that you, nor me, nor anyone 'deserve' them to drop their prices. Now, before some f**kwit calls me a 'corporate bootlicker' I want you to recognise a highly important, yet very subtle difference. What we DO - ALL - deserve, is better wages and lower overall costs of living. Simply put, follow Maslow's Hiearchy of needs (shelter, food, energy, etc.) These essentials should be cheap. Non-essentials are free to follow the market. This way, hobby businesses (regardless of what they are) can be successful, sometimes expensive, and we can all have our disposable income to spend on hobbies. Finally, there are MANY ways to enjoy this hobby very cheap. 3D printing, ebay, recasts, 3rd party models, proxies, box splitting, and so much more. Literally forums full of ways to do this cheaper.
It feels like you just need a place to vent, we all know there are cheaper ways to do things. Most of my video's are about cheaper options. I totally get that nagging feeling you have, and hope this comment helped you feel better!
Thanks for the video. The editing is little rough though... Well that is the problem with time sensitive videos.
The editing is a little rough on most of my videos, but I like to think it's getting better as I practice more. Just so I have the feedback, how did it feel rough to you? What can I do to change it to be better? Trying to learn as I go 🙂
@@Wargamerofalltrades I think this video had lots of bad cuts. You cut you self at middle of sentence many times. Example 10:21 you say "However fro-" and just cut it. This happened repetitly, when you chainged a topic. Other examples: 13:05 is weird you say "a" and then cut or just take a weird break in your sentence. 3:43 "and-" Lots of this can be, I think, be fixed with more precise editing.
@@OstvaltThank you, I really appreciate you providing the timestamps. I will definitely do better next time, some of those are rough even for me
@@Wargamerofalltrades That happens. Only way to avoid these really is to give the video to a friend and ask him to spot the mistakes. Be it a text or video, you easily just go past all the mistakes. Fresh eyes are the best way to avoid it. But thanks for the video again! Love how you have variety of content. It is kinda depressing when people just speak about 40k. Found battletech through you and loved it.
Nope!
Glad everyone agrees
