bruh not recommending a product because “the next one will be better” is stupid asf
Pros of the M1 MacBook Pro over the M1 MacBook Air:
1. Brighter screen
2. Better speakers and mics
3. Longer battery life
4. Active thermal cooling
5. Touch-Bar
6. Bigger trackpad
@Frederick Hall Differences between the equivalent M1 systems
You can get the air with the extra core. Good points! To me that doesn't make my work go faster, but I can totally see how that would be worth it
Completely agree. If you want the higher performance version, wait for the 16inch with M1X. It will come with more cores, more memory, probably more GPU cores, too, and with better cooling and battery than the 13 pro, which is really just about the same as the 13 air.
But I can’t wait and I need it now
If I were to guess, the new 16 will be $2400. I say this because the lowest cost MacBook Pro was $1299 before the m1 version came out and it remained the same price. Right now the 16in one is 2400 and I think they will keep it the same
@@TheSearchForAwesome I agree with you again, maybe $100 drop maximum. For the same price, Macbook Air M1 delivers 3x the performance of the old Macbook Air. I don't see that for the 16" Macbook Pro M1X. However, it may deliver 1.5-2x the CPU performance of the old Macbook Pro 16, and maybe the GPU performance of a Nvidia 2070 MaxQ, much better than the AMD 5600m.
Typing this on my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro like the rebel I am.
Lol! I hope you love it :)
@@TheSearchForAwesome it’s amazing. No heat. Runs LoL on max with over 100 FPS. Haven’t ran Xcode yet.
Yeah, I got the m1 macbook pro because A. I wanted a macbook pro, B. I want all the performance I can get, every last drop, and C. I'm kind of rendering a lot.
Got the MacBook Air M1 second tiered one with 512ssd & 8 GPU it’s is phenomenal
Sorry for all my comments, but I just love commenting because you're actually honest! My opinion on the touchbar. Since I got my m1 macbook pro, I can say after 2 months I don't love it or hate it. Once you learn the tricks like swiping on the volume slider and other stuff, it isn't to terrible. However, I don't really care anymore. I think the issue is a lot of people don't know how to use the basic functions touchbar properly, and thats why they hate it and absouletly can't live with it. For example, to adjust the volume, you don't have to tap and then slide, you can just slide on top of the volume indicator. Also, it does add some cool functionality, like I use it to scrub through videos in quick time player and stuff, and it allows me to mute and unmute myself in zoom quicker. But overall, I think the touchbar is cool, and I don't love it or hate it, but I do feel like developers could have taken better advantage of it's functionality, and I could definitely live either way. That's just my opinion though. Of course, if one doesn't like it, they can always switch it back to show just the function keys.
The only deal breaker for me is the Touch Bar! It slows me down anyway and I end up not getting fast in my work on the pro
I just ordered MacBook pro and i just want touchbar and more brightness and 8 core GPU and a fan because its pretty needed i think in my opinion
I got the Pro because I use my laptop outside a lot and nit measurement tools show the Airs display outputs 360-370 nits. That panel is unusable outdoors on most days. It’s a big disadvantage for a laptop so light and portable. The brighter screen and better battery life are what drove me to get the MacBook Pro even though I really wanted to get the air.
Makes sense to me. I don't use it outdoors so I hadn't considered that.
@@TheSearchForAwesome Yeah my use case isn't normal. I am a college student and I travel back and forth between school and two apartments and sometimes I have to do zoom meetings outside because of noisy environments. On nice days I just like to work outside on the patio or a park. For most people, the Air is an amazing machine.
@@lolunderstated533 That’s true, but the same tools show that Pro’s display outputs 430 nits, so there isn’t much difference (I saw both air and pro live too, and i can confirm that the difference isn’t relevant).
The battery lasts +2 hours over 20, so it only lasts 10% longer.
I my opinion the Pro doesn’t worth +300: if you need a machine better than the air, just wait for the new 14 and 16 pros, because the Air does everything the pro 13 does.
@@federicoostinelli609 I know the Pro doesn’t reach the advertised 500 nits but it does output the same level of brightness as my 2018 iPad Pro and I can use my iPad Pro outside just fine, though it is what I would consider the minimum level of brightness to be able to use outdoors. It may not seem like 70 more nits is a big difference, but it can be the difference between being able to see what’s on screen and only seeing reflections. 10 percent more battery life doesn’t sound like like much but considering batteries in laptops degrade quite fast, this just means the pro will maintain a good level of battery life for longer, and most people buy these machines to keep for a long time. Also, the pro comes with a charger worth $69 with twice the charging capacity as the Air. That makes it so you’re really only paying $231 for better mics, better speakers, brighter display, higher contrast on the display (look this up, the contrast on the pro is much better even if they are both dcip3), a fan, and better battery life. To me it’s a no brained. You obviously like the air better though and that’s ok.
also contrast is measured 1000:1 instead of 1500:1 on the MBP.
Nope, if you push the m1 macbook pro, you can hear the fan. The reviewers are wrong, they're just hyped up and payed or they're in a really loud room and can't hear it until it gets to full blast. I have heard the fan on my m1 macbook pro several times when rendering like blender or running cinebench. When doing only cpu intensive stuff, it stays very quiet around 3500 to 4000 rpm. However, if I push the cpu and gpu hard at the same time, it goes to 7200 rpm, which is loud. However, the fan only becomes audible if you're pushing the cpu to the max for longer then I would say about 2 to 3 minutes and as you said in the video, it's very hard to push these m1 macs. Web browsing, watching youtube, normal tasks, video editing, the fan doesn't even turn on and the cpu stays under 50 degrees.
Loved the vid ... made so much sense ... definitely subscribing
I so appreciate this. Thank you. I have struggled to decide what get as a soon to be Mac newbie and I am tired of the stat throw downs that have no bearing on my day to day. This won’t be my work computer-I have one. I just want something that is reliable and fast without breaking the bank. Your video helps a lot.
You’re welcome! The air is a great machine
what if i play games 6 hours a day on it. will i still need a pro? (and a life? :))
Lol no clue tbh. You'd get better battery with the pro, but I don't know if would last that long. With editing I got about 5-6 hours of it done. I did have to transcode which taxes the battery alot though
I actually cancelled my M1 MBP and ordered the MBA instead before this video
It’s the exact same processor in each so what would be the point in a pro

I don't know about anyone else but all I do with my computer is run benchmark tests. ;-) Another solid video Titus!
Lol! Yeah of course - are there other things you can do with computers?
Thank for a sensible review. A lot of hype is made about too much. Jeeze.
They should have called the Pro the MacBook Air Plus instead 😂 the real pro is not coming until next year.
Great video
Also, choose the Educational Option and save $100 bucks. They do not verify.
Very useful video! i'd like buy Air m1 for use Logic Pro and final cut for my home music studio. I m very undecided if buy the basic Air version or bring storage to 512SSD or ram16gb? Which is better in your opinion ?
I truly enjoyed the content in this video but your face was just blown out by the light you were using.
I noticed after it was too late lol. Thanks for letting me know
I have a MacBook Pro M1,and any time I run stabilization or De-noise in resolve 17 (m1 beta) for more than a minute , the fan start to kick in loud and it heat up quick...
With Intel?
@@whitemailprivilege2830 no I just got the M1 MacBook Pro a week ago, I did some de-noise in Resolve 17 m1 beta with some ALEXA mini UHD Prores 4444 footage I just shot , it heat up super quick and I can clearly hear the fan, and it only play back like 2 fps with de-noise on (which is expected tho)
Good to know. Thanks for sharing!
13” Macbook Pro M1 seems like a bit beefier Macbook Air while 15” and 16” may have distinctive leap from these two. Does the current 13” MBP still deserve ‘Pro’ in the name? It is a great laptop. But Apple raised my expectation high for 15” and 16” version. The real ‘Pro’ laptop
Dude your quality of video is really good, Haven't skipped any part till 9:35
Glad I Found you! Subbed:,-)
So kind! Thank you!
I have a serious question. I practice and learn using programs like photoshop, illustrator, premier pro and after effect and i use at least 5 hours in a row. I was thinking getting pro 8 gb ram. Do u think should i get pro or air and which ram is better for me?.
Hi i would like to know which 2 app did you use to see how much cpu and gpu you was using i currently own the the m1 pro
One is called istats for cpu gpu and memory. Istatistic gave me the temps. I was monitoring the SoC temp
Help me out here :) I absolutely agree BUT as I'm planning to buy a MacBook in 2021, I heard the Pro will get an all-new design while the Air only in... 2022. I really prefer the form factor of the Air and I don't need the Pro 'power' but that new design is a big 'pro' for me....aaggh don't know what to do now :D
Touch Bar.
Lol. Ducking now
I am a student in 9th and i bought a macbook pro 13 intel i5 (16 gb ram) just a 1.5 months ago?But i am sad bcz the new m1 came so fast.Should I buy that?
Makes sense.
Can you download programs like office, matlab for free with Pirate Bay for example like you can with intel macs
I want to know this too!
100% of the reason why I buy a MacBook over a windows laptop is the external build quality and design. The MacBook Pro has a better exterior design and it’s more proportional. Which is why I will always buy the pro. It’s the real Mac inside and out IMO. The air is nice I suppose for a college student or something I suppose. But for a working class person who has money I would go pro.
Go for it!
@@TheSearchForAwesome just bring up a topic that is not always discussed. Style and design.
That's interesting. They look really similar to me especially now that the monitor part is black as well now.
I Got the Pro because best buy had a deal on open box Macbook pro for $939.99
Awesome find!
Could you suggest me which one should I buy for web and app development??air or pro??
Honestly, just go for the pro
100% right.
Sorry, don’t agree. I want my first Mac to be amazing. I want the better specs, sound, performance.
Totally get it! Go for it :)
Then again you technically owning beta system until everything is capable by then m2 chip would be best buy
If you want a better machine, you should wait the new 14/16 pros. The Pro has 15% better performance only after very long and demanding tasks, thanks to the active cooling. Mics and speakers are nearly the same, the battery lasts +10%. Those difference don’t make the Pro more amazing than the Air and it’s proved in every test that the Air does everything the Pro does with no differences.
If you want a really better machine wait for 14 and 16 pros.
Couldnt agree more :)
I’m thinking of getting the MBA but I want a bit of storage so I don’t know if I should go for the 8 core deal. Is 256 GB enough for a computer?
I think it depends on what you’re doing. I have an external drive for editing and that works well, but if you need the space and don’t like external hdds then you may want to upgrade
hello do u think its safe to put screen and keyboard protector, and clear case on mba?? switching from windows and mba m1 would be my first mac. Would putting protector damage the retina? thankss
Do you recommend getting this instead of the pro? I currently own a 2015 13" MBP with the i5 intel and 8gb of ram, I use it mostly for software developing with xcode, android studio, vs code and vpn connection with forticlient and parallels client and it is Turned on 12 hours plus
I've never used some of that software so I would say research and make sure all of those work well on new M1 Macs first.
If they do then I feel pretty confident an air will do circles around your current machine. If not then maybe wait till the next ones come out and then you can decide.
Is it bad to purchase MacBooks from Amazon? Is it a trustworthy purchase or is it better to just buy from apple?
Nah, I believe they work directly with apple. Just make sure you're not buying from a 3rd party though amazon
Alright man. You know I'm a regular to your channel, so I'm gonna give you some feedback. Your face cam shots seem overexposed for the past few videos, especially when you switch to the side angle. Also, I see some framedrops in some videos but it could just be rendering. Overall the actual videos are still as great as the old videos(actually a little better)
For me he just overdoing it with the editing. I actually like this channel and I subscribed to it because of how professional looking his videos are, but it's a bit overkill for my taste. I don't really see the purpose of the side angle shots of his face or zooming in on his face for no reason. Sometimes less is more.
I appreciate the feedback! I have noticed the over exposure - forgot to fix that last video. I don't mind dialing back the editing. I just thought people liked that tbh because I notice over popular channels doing that. Is the music too much? That's been my biggest concern.
I hadn't noticed the frame drops except for one video where my computer glitched out and I couldn't fix without rerecording.
@@TheSearchForAwesome I prefer videos without music, but in this case it wasn't distracting so I didn't necessarily mind it. I know that other channels have videos that are unnecessarily heavily edited and I feel the same way about those channels. I'm a minimalist and I don't necessarily like change for the sake of change. If the video quality and audio quality are good and you're getting your point across I could care less about the other aspects of the video. I actually prefer some videos that are off the cuff and avant-garde (e.g. videos that are taken with the front facing camera on a phone). I'm not saying to do videos like that consistently, but I find that some of those videos appear to be the most authentic and the least rehearsed. Maybe you can do videos like that every once in a while if you're really excited about a new product and you just want to get it off your chest.
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it! Moving forward I actually decided to ditch the script so the videos should be more natural, while still having a similar style - we'll see how that goes. I like the idea of shooting parts of it with a phone. I might try that when it makes sense.
The reason for all video cuts is to attempt to keep the video more engaging. I changed my setup recently to incorporate 4 cameras so I could allow for more video cuts, but if it's too much I might force myself not to change the camera view as much. Is that the biggest issue to you?
@@TheSearchForAwesome In my opinion, the side shots are a good way to make things engaging and the music is really a good idea. However, with this video I felt the switch to the side angles were a little too much. It can help when it happens once in a while but this time it took me out of the experience. If you would dial it back a little it would be much better 🙏
Wifi issues The issue appears to lie in Apple's hardware or macOS Big Sur, as users were able to successfully connect Logitech accessories using that company's Unifying Receiver Bluetooth dongle. One Redditor contacted Apple to replace his Mac mini, but the substitute suffered from the same problem, get the word out get refund
Hadn't heard that! Bummer
More runtime, more brightness (display), touch bar, more lasting performance without throttling ...
I would be stupid not to do it!
I mention those things in the video and also explain why I don't think those things are worth the extra cost. If you disagree go for it - those aren't bad reasons to upgrade
Agreed. I have an air and regretting especially the 8gb memory. I ordered a pro 16gb lets see. But I like the wedge design of air. But again if I am paying more today the resale tomorrow will also be more than air.
@@hk6926 If I were to put more emphasis on the design than on the technical aspects, I would choose the Air. But the choice is very easy, of course with 16GB Ram ;-)
Have you hit walls from the 8gb ram? I haven’t yet tbh. The air also supports 16gb.
@@TheSearchForAwesome yes I have . Running a machine learning algorithm is slowing the air like crazy specially when I am trying to extract a jsonl file around 8 gb . This extraction normally takes 3 mins on my 16 inch 16 gb i9 and now taking around 17 mins on air .l🤦♂️
What if I’m gonna use it to color grade and edit in 4k like a film
I shoot in 4k and color grade. Air is great at it. Premiere works pretty well too, but the color grading in premiere is slow on the m1
Just got the MBP and I'm thinking about returning it for MBA now 🤔
I’m sure it’s awesome still, but the air is much better deal if you don’t care about the small differences
Same here . Pro is just love ❤️
Coming from a 17" Macbook Pro i7. The new M1 Macbooks are worth every damn penny. Don't believe this crap. It's definitely worth the money.
Thanks for sharing your input. The point of my video is the M1 Macbook air is the better buy and the pro version doesn't make since for most people.
Thanks for stopping by!
Terrible headline.
Too bright!
Cool video though.
Shall I upgrade the ram in the air? My daily tasks are a bunch of tabs , some gaming and 4k editing.
I think you'll be fine with 8gb if you're editing in final cut. That's what I do. Gaming also seemed fine with eight gigs when I played tomb raider. I would get 16 gigs if you need to edit something larger than 4K or you're using something other than final cut for editing
