Obviously folks would know what the optimal thing to do is at the start of a world, alongside the many quality of life items and mechanics. I think it's because no mob can actually mess with the player's ability to build in a major way. Yeah endermans can pick up some blocks but it's only limited to like grass and other non essential blocks, creepers can explode but only when in line of sight. Basically players can dig down and stay in a 1x2 hole blocked off from every way or just build yourself a quick shelter and you are 100% safe. Hardcore is just hard difficulty since you can have infinite totems, Ive even thought about why they do even exist in hardcore cause they just kill the concept of having only one life in your world, but it would be TOO radical remove them from Hardcore...
I had an idea concept, that in hardcore difficulty, totems are unobtainable, and evokers actually USE them to save themselves, making them not drop these. (Also having totems as rare unobtainable item gotten via snapshot bug or something like that would've been a fun trophy in hardcore worlds hshs)
@@krefcik772disabling something like that in a sandbox isn't a good idea. My solution is to add a coil down of 15 minutes between uses on easy 20 on medium 25 on hard and 30 on hardcore.
@@sonicthehedge we have the vaults, so why they don't add them exclusive loot like the totems on the woodland mansions vaults. that way they can finally remove the drop them from raids and claim that they can still be obtainable on multiplayer.
The problem with minecraft hardcore mode is that minecraft is a sandbox primarily, therefore you can never make the game too hard without ruining its sandbox element
Exactly, this is exactly why Minecraft is good, because you can do whatever you want. The game doesn’t force into a linear playstyle so naturally players are gonna find new strategies and optimizations for it.
you can make a difficulty mode for challenge, or make the hard mode actually hard, it doesn´t affect the game or force the casual or builder players to play in that way
Most of the times i died in hardcore were never in combat. It was always fall damage due to my clumsy ass .This was solved by making a loadout for combat, and a loadout for building bases.
i play hardcore a lot and i think the main if not only reason its so easy compared to a few years ago is there are natural generating structures filled with really good easy to access loot everywhere. for example every 20-30 square chunks there is at least 1 nether portal, shipwreck or stacked village and often all 3 where you can get a few diamonds and full iron without even getting a stone pick
the diamonds are really easy to obtain, you can go to a cave and get a full stack without fortune. And with diamond equipment and some enchantements is very hard to die
I started a hardcore world and died within the first minute because the sun was to hot but i can't tell if that's the game being to hard or me having massive skill issue

I think the best (partial) solution to this problem, is a concept as synonymous with Minecraft as hardcore itself: customization. Give the players a gamerule for mob spawns, for their gear, for ores. Of course, it doesn't adress the core issue of +-stats≠game more fun necessarily, but it does help the target audience issue.
I like to think of hardcore less about being a harder difficulty, and more about having that threat of dying over your head. No matter what, one day you will die, one day your world will end, you'll make a fatal mistake and it'll all be over. And that's kinda what makes this gamemode so beautiful, the fact you know it's gonna end, but you keep going anyway, and when that moment does come, you'll be able to reminisce on everything you've accomplished, and move on to the next adventure. But I've also only played hardcore once and died to some wither skeletons so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.
I don't like it when people say Hardcore is easy. Because everyone who says it is usually really good at the game. Most players wouldn't be able to spend thousands of days in a hardcore world, whether it be a lack of skill, lack of motivation, or all of the above. Honestly, i really like how Terraria toggles difficulty settings. Its not just normal or hardcore, but multiple options getting harder and harder with more setbacks with every difficulty settings. I think it coul be done in minecraft similiarly.
@@venomsabre2696 My idea always was, for the Evokers specific to raids, to actually USE the totems, to save themselves, while in the mantions, they are unprepared, and don't have these equipped, being the only source to get these. Raids were always intended for us to get Hero of The Village effect so it's not removing it's actual goal, but makes the totems a valuable item again.
@@venomsabre2696 raids are not pointless AT ALL lol. hero of the village is one of the most powerful effects in the game and lasts for a very long time. especially with new villager nerfs, even zombifying them won't give you nearly the discounts that the buff will (it's in the experimental options). Saddles are useful, Emeralds are useful, the general EXP you get is useful, and they're overall very worth for the time invested. Maybe if the Evoker had a small chance to drop a Woodland Labyrinth Map alongside the key, that'd be make them still almost as good as they are currently.
@@venomsabre2696 There are plenty of ways to fix this. Now evokers in raids dont drop totems, they make raids harder or fix the raid farms so you cant get totems without doing the raid.
I have a survival world, where i have a “totem limitation”. See, i made myself sacrifice any totems for raids (mostly by striking them with lightning) unless they came from an evoker from a woodland mansion.
damn, i remember when your channel was tiny and i think you mentioned wanting to do youtube more seriously or something? 100K is crazy, good job, and keep up the great stuff
My solution: keep inventory. Really. Having risk from losing your items or dying in hardcore doesn't make the game harder, it just increases the punishment for dying, meaning no one wants to play with challenges that would make the game more fun for them, but that would actually have a risk of them dying. Even when people are doing challenges in hardcore to post it on YT, they don't *actually* have much danger, because they can reduce the danger by just doing things the extremely safe/boring way. For example, if you are doing a half-heart/no armor challenge in hardcore, you are going to make sure that no mobs are going to sneak up behind you and one-shot you. You are going to play extremely passively, by blocking up paths/areas, making sure that no mobs have a chance of attacking you to get the danger level down to a more manageable level. In contrast, if you have the same half-heart/no armor challenge with keep inventory, you can play as aggressively as you want, blitz in everywhere and actually be able to play the challenge without playing so passively that the challenge's increased danger is completely nullified. Without keep inventory, you just get punished for playing the game at a difficulty level that would actually be interesting for you, where you actually have a chance of dying, and will die. I recently streamed keep inventory (I called it softcore) with no armor in the trial chambers, and had a lot of fun because it was actually somewhat challenging while I was still new. I also have a hardcore world, where I got max gear, built a few farms, then quit because it was too easy, but I didn't want to get punished for actually having some challenge. The few times I did try to challenge myself in my hardcore world for YT content (one was beating 4 bedrock Withers simultaneously before they were nerfed, on the surface, without trapping them), I had to practice in a testing world many times to be absolutely certain that I wasn't going to lose everything. In other words, I did the challenge, but wasn't *challenged*.
a good example of a game with bad artificial difficulty is red dead online's legendary bounties, specifically the red ben clempson one, at the last difficulty stage, they don't make anything harder, they just make riders spawn more, make enemies take less stun from bullets, and add 2 random bums that you also have to bring in despite not being on the poster. It makes nothing harder, just more tedious to deal with.
The amount of Sonic references in this video like the Unleashed QTE and the Doomsday Zone make me so happy. Subbed. Oh, you also referenced Geometry Dash? Dropping a like. 11:05 You've officially became the best Minecraft UA-camr ever
This is the only "Hardcore is too easy" video I've ever seen that touches on the issues and acknowledges the pros and cons. Instead of just saying "Erm, totems and shields," you genuinely look at Minecraft in *general* and talk about it getting naturally easier, acknowledging Mojang's perspective. Most videos just say it sucks now and don't actually explain what Mojang- or the player, like you did- could do to fix it, great video, I subbed.
From a guy who only plays with mods, if they make mining harder than it already is. The overall length and difficulty will rise like 50%. Removing totem of undying or making them even rarer in hardcore would be even better, nerfing combat and actually adding mobs you should be afraid of... That's what makes a game hard, not dying once and that's it
How about an Expert Difficulty, that completely nullifies the sandbox aspect of the game and makes it more linear to force you to do things to get better gear.
I fully agree here! I believe that I can add on to this idea with having less iron spawn in higher difficult. I played on bedrock with the default terrain, and one chasm is all I needed to find 3 stacks of iron, and 16 diamonds. I am a terrible minecraft player, but I found that to be too easy and boring. I now play on amplified java worlds which have like 3 pieces of iron per world, and I find it more fun having to scale mountains, and explore larger caves. I know you used GD as an example, of too hard and unfun, but I've had the most fun when beating harder levels. I had far more fun beating medium demons than I did easy demons. Same with easy demons and insanes, etc etc.
One time I was playing hardcore before an update and when I updated the world the world was still hardcore but the difficulty was no longer locked too hard.
The end says it all, if you think something makes it too easy, don't use it, no need to get rid of them and ruin the experience of people like me who actually like Mending and Totems for example and gives a balance between building cool farm and projects vs making the game too hard and having to make a new world every week. The goal of Minecraft Hardcore is to keep the world as long as possible, not dying and be like 'well, i spent 2 hours in that world, i guess that's it'' to me at least, i want to stay alive as long as possible while making cool stuff.
Minecraft is a game where you can do whatever you want so naturally you need to be able to get extremely overpowered gear for large projects. If you want a challenge you can try to play without enchantments, totems, elytra, etc or even just simply take more risks. Because of the nature of the game, you can't block players from getting to a point where it is very easy to survive and do whatever you want so it is up to players to set their own level of challenge. Hardcore just means you can't respawn and it's not meant to make the game harder than it already is in any other aspects, because players can still set their own level of challenge.

Honestly, i really like how Terraria toggles difficulty settings. Its not just normal or hardcore, but multiple options getting harder and harder with more setbacks with every difficulty settings. I think it coul be done in minecraft similiarly.
another xayxay upload, the day's saved
NOT THE LOW TIER GOD REFERENCE FOR LAPIS
Amazing editing btw!
You know it's a good day when Xay uploads
Just make evokers drop keys and make the only way for you to access totem is through a vault found in the mansion
It’s that easy
unfortunately raids become pointless other than for farming emeralds, which isn't really *doing* a raid
11:05 IT'S BLUEEEEE IT'S BLUE!!!!!!
Love the Limbo reference. Also congrats for 100k
I have a survival world, where i have a “totem limitation”. See, i made myself sacrifice any totems for raids (mostly by striking them with lightning) unless they came from an evoker from a woodland mansion.
Congrats on 100k subs! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congrats on getting 100k subscribers!🎉🎉

my fucking GOAT XAYXAY uploaded again hell yeah!!!!!
In other words, I did the challenge, but wasn't *challenged*.
are you talking about hardcore or naw?
@@ravenschihl4038 I talked about keep inventory, regular Minecraft, and Hardcore.
If you want to make minecraft harder just add the scape and run mod.
The doggie mention and limbo focus was so unexpected but so welcome 😭
Bros about to get his dream youtube playbutton soon
Epic video as always!!
I swear xay is the most underrated Minecraft UA-camr ever
fire vids mr Xayllernste keep them coming
a good example of a game with bad artificial difficulty is red dead online's legendary bounties, specifically the red ben clempson one, at the last difficulty stage, they don't make anything harder, they just make riders spawn more, make enemies take less stun from bullets, and add 2 random bums that you also have to bring in despite not being on the poster. It makes nothing harder, just more tedious to deal with.
2:58 the second i heard it my hand started to hover the mouse to the "subscibe spot"

And thats why I play my current hardcore world without totems
The amount of Sonic references in this video like the Unleashed QTE and the Doomsday Zone make me so happy. Subbed.
Oh, you also referenced Geometry Dash? Dropping a like.
11:05 You've officially became the best Minecraft UA-camr ever
This is the only "Hardcore is too easy" video I've ever seen that touches on the issues and acknowledges the pros and cons. Instead of just saying "Erm, totems and shields," you genuinely look at Minecraft in *general* and talk about it getting naturally easier, acknowledging Mojang's perspective. Most videos just say it sucks now and don't actually explain what Mojang- or the player, like you did- could do to fix it, great video, I subbed.
awesome choice of music on video
From a guy who only plays with mods, if they make mining harder than it already is. The overall length and difficulty will rise like 50%. Removing totem of undying or making them even rarer in hardcore would be even better, nerfing combat and actually adding mobs you should be afraid of... That's what makes a game hard, not dying once and that's it
Congratulations on 100K subscribers
honestly, u can make ur own twist to hardcore that makes it harder, maybe slap some harder mods in, maybe add ur own rules, etc
How about an Expert Difficulty, that completely nullifies the sandbox aspect of the game and makes it more linear to force you to do things to get better gear.
The best example I have for this would be the Better Than Wolves mod, but that is already an over exaggerated difficulty increase.

100k Subs Keep it Up!
7 Days to die has a nice dynamic difficulty I like basically the game progressively gets harder the longer you go without dying
Same with easy demons and insanes, etc etc.
im glad you mentioned Doggie
wow good job on 100k!
"how many times have you watched this bit? 11:35. "
me: "yes"
Bro you are amazing
One time I was playing hardcore before an update and when I updated the world the world was still hardcore but the difficulty was no longer locked too hard.
an example of pain in a video game is rainworld
The end says it all, if you think something makes it too easy, don't use it, no need to get rid of them and ruin the experience of people like me who actually like Mending and Totems for example and gives a balance between building cool farm and projects vs making the game too hard and having to make a new world every week. The goal of Minecraft Hardcore is to keep the world as long as possible, not dying and be like 'well, i spent 2 hours in that world, i guess that's it'' to me at least, i want to stay alive as long as possible while making cool stuff.
King is back ✨

Minecraft is a game where you can do whatever you want so naturally you need to be able to get extremely overpowered gear for large projects. If you want a challenge you can try to play without enchantments, totems, elytra, etc or even just simply take more risks. Because of the nature of the game, you can't block players from getting to a point where it is very easy to survive and do whatever you want so it is up to players to set their own level of challenge. Hardcore just means you can't respawn and it's not meant to make the game harder than it already is in any other aspects, because players can still set their own level of challenge.
Phantoms are just menaces to the minecraft community
