While listening to the battle theme did anyone ever do the trademark head n shoulder sway? its the dance the characters do in battle or like what the old Mortal Kombat models used to do in default stance? Id be caught doing that when I played this game, cheezy I know but heck the whole game got to me that way.
I literally listened to this video alongside the HD Remix of the same song. Not only is that an awesome combination, but the beats-per-minute are an exact match! That spells dedication to get the timing down to such a fine degree. Some fine work right here.
I'm a huge fan, and I have watched his videos numerous times. I really, really don't want to kill the magic, but for those who don't know - he takes the MIDI files of the music, separates the different tracks, and sings along with each (thus all the different voices). That is how his timing is exactly the same. That said, he is still pristine and has amazing pitch. These are all compliments!
AtraMade Doesn't really lessen my opinion of him at all knowing that, it would be impossible for him to sync up each recording individually without some heavy duty pitch editing if he was only to sing to memory, it's better that he does it this way so the result is better and not a mess, knowing that might actually make more people try out doing an acapella using similar methods too.
As an amateur musician, I love how your arrangement enhaces the beauty of the harmony from 1:04 to 1:20 (and the repetition). It seems some kind of chromatic ascension, but I haven't analized anything. You can really appreciate the tension in those chords adding great depth to the track, in the original is harder to notice. Overall great work, but that moment is why I keep coming to this video and sing the notes stuck in my head.

What I really love about Uematsu's songs is that they all have many nuances to them as well as tone shifts. One of the greatest boss themes in video game history, "One Winged Angel", even has those elements. It really makes the games more interesting and in depth. I'm not saying other composers don't have this, such as Yoko Shimimura and Kow Otani, but there's just something about Uematsu's style that's really unique.

Yeah. I class Battle and Boss themes separate. If you're going for boss themes, you cannot beat One Winged Angel. But for a general boss theme and not unique boss theme. FF13 is definitely up there. It had some amazing music.

Anyone who's beaten Penance knows you have to be extremely committed to this game and/or have too much free time and/or be crazy. I listened to this track for who knows how long before getting to Penance. Good thing it's so catchy.

Best Final Fantasy after VII in my opinion. Then again I mostly judge Final Fantasy's by their levelling system (eg. materia, sphere grid etc.) and the soundtrack.
You're right, i loved the shit outta final fantasy 10, though final fantasy 12 put up a good contest i just found it overrated and the battle system was way too tedious and downright boring

You might want to try and go back and play the older games like FF4, FF6, FF7, and FF8. Granted Cant that I cant say what you think is the best but FFX is only good to great, where to the older was story was awesome.(yes you had too read it all but still). I think that the voice over gave this game alot og help with telling the story, so that an avarger game became good. Would love it if the writer of the newer FF games get close too what they had in older games.

This was both my first FF, and the last one I enjoyed. Of course, after going "back in time", and playing a few of the older ones, this one is not that good if you compare, but still... hundreds and hundreds of hours were spent in this.
