Played FFVI 15 yrs ago, I had to restart the game when I learned Shadow can be alive past the middle game. This is nicely done!

Did you know Shadow can permanently lose his dog, Interceptor if an enemy hits him with the Rippler lore? That's another potential restart reason. It's similar to how most FF4 characters eventually lose the ability to score critical hits, simply by starting a battle dead even once.

The original English translation on the Super Nintendo did mistranslate Biggs (ビックス) as Vicks, but all subsequent versions, evidently including the version shown in this video, corrected that mistake.

That is technically possible.
However, that would require him to record a soundfont pack, covering all standard MIDI instruments with a sample of his acapella voicing.
Then there's also the issue of optimizing for the appropriate song, but that's apart from the main problem.

I want a mod where all the music and sounds in a game are replaced by acapella versions and Smooth's the one making them.
If he recorded acapella of every track in a game, or individual samples that represented instruments, it'd be a simple matter of substituting those samples for the game's music tracks or soundfont, respectively! Depending on whether the game uses MP3 music tracks or MIDI with a soundfont.
Gaelan Anderson The SNES uses MIDI. Don't know the other versions but is not that simple because every is coded and you need to decode everything.
Ex-Casual well yeah, I know it needs to be decoded. I've messed around with some GBA games who use MIDI. Ripping the audio yielded a folder of MIDIs and a .sf2 file with the instruments compressed inside it. Pretty cool to learn about.
Gaelan Anderson You can find the original game file where the music is stored for retro games on the web. I don't recall the name right now but I think you'll find it if you search .nsf database.

I can see that
What makes Final Fantasy music so great is it's variety. Calm ballads, epic battle music, vocals, heavy metal. Tactics or type-0 has very different soundtrack to the rest of the series but works really well. Even games that suck, like 13 or mystic quest has kickass songs
Two years ago I was in bed trying to find a good version of this song. After listening to awful remix after awful remix, I was about to give up, when I saw this smooth acapella version, and thought, well it'll suck too but it can't be any worse than what I already heard. Then came the song. The first few seconds were promising, then came the amazing beat, and by 10 seconds I was no longer in bed, but was dancing about thrashing my arms as I drummed along with the song. I still feel that same surge of energy even today! Smooth is a modern day power plant! What a man, what a song!

A lot of the plot elements of FFVI are Star Wars related, the Gestahlian Empire is VERY similar to the Galactic Empire, and the Returners are VERY similar to the Rebels.

Biggs and Wedge are used alot in the Final Fantasy, usually they're both enemy soldiers. I dunno if they're references or just coincidence.
It's an intentional reference to Star Wars. Star Wars even returned the favour by adding a minor character named Cid in the prequel trilogy.
I've been listening to the original and plenty of remakes, but your voice is just so smooth on this song! Those vocal glides are pure heaven. It really adds something to the song

Any curative items or spells damages the undead in FFVI. Bosses are included at least in the SNES version.
