Another quick update on the General. This video was a lot of fun to make. So glad to see the car is jumping more like the real thing. The only question now is what's next? 🤔Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be cool. Hope you all have an awesome weekend! Thank you all for watching. 👍
That's a very good thought. I figure I'm going to have to pack down any dirt as smooth and hard as possible since the car is so small. Not a bad idea to do some off road testing, thanks for your comment. 👍
yup, 1/32" thick balsa cut+glued into scale size hollow 2x4's. "foam board" with paper removed sliced into "lumber" and gently spray painted from 14-16" away to give color without melting the foam.
You should try the first jump that the general lee did its the one when thay jump over Roscoe's cop car in the theam song of duke's of Hazzard it would be easy to recreat for your RC general lee and would be awesome to see it jumping roscoe's cop car
pre 'break' the wood, and reassemble it like a 3d puzzle that's just balanced together, and will fall apart if you stare at it too hard :) . Gently sprinkle on some super fine dirt (powder paint through a sieve)
It takes some practice but once you get a feel for the cars dynamics, how much speed it likes coming into your ramp and what it likes coming off the ramp you can get some nice flights. Looks like you've got it, yee haw!
Have you looked into wood veneers? They are super thin. I don't know if a balsa veneer is a thing but it could be. Be careful though didn't somebody get all tore up about The Duke Boys before they aimed their sights on Dr. Suisse. Sad, sad world we live on. Awesome videos, be blessed...
Great channel and very helpful. I don’t support you have a full written list of components and where to buy them for 1:25 rc cars? I’m trying to build a 1:25 dodge Monaco police car. I’ve built many models but not rc ones. I know adding a working light bar will be a bit trickier but I like a challenge. Thanks for your help.
Don’t worry about the high quality. The slowmo does it for now. You make a great effort where is needed except the ramp but at least you have a nice ramp to showcase with the car in the air or leaving the ramp. Nice work. Mine is a 1/10 scale and heavy but I may try something later. Got a few mods left. Thanks for sharing. 👍👏👏👏
One things for sure your model looks way better than the production model that was used in the show. The one they used was probably scratch built but their proportions were a little bit off.
instead of doing 1/2 speed, do 1/25 speed to match the speed of the original, if this is how fast the car was traveling across the screen in the series, it would have looked sped up. give it a shot I think it'd work
For the wood, you can use balsa that is kerfed on one side to weaken it. Or maybe partially glue strips of balsa together to make a wider sheet. Can you make a Mini Cooper S model and props and redo the scene from "The Italian Job" where they are testing the cars for the mansion heist using platforms and stairs and other props?
You should put a cross brace over the motor from one strut tower to the other . I saw that you cut the one that was there. That could possibly cause stress cracks on the chassis . You did a great job though. Where can i get a general lee like that?
Balsa would be a good start for weak realistic wood. You could pre-score like the do in Hollywood with real wood. Be sure you get balsa and not basswood as it’s light, right next to balsa, looks similar but several times stronger. So if you were to oh I don’t know wanna crash through a scale barn.. that’d be my choice. Build the frame from something more rigid, like basswood or plastic then anything you wanted to “breakaway “ use balsa.. try I scored first then I’d probably give some help in the direction you wanted breaks but light scoring on back.
I was always fascinated with this car, jumping everywhere. But I think in real world, this car would need more shock travel, more bracing and larger tires to jump like in TV..
Hey! I was on you store and idk if you were a aware but the electrical set for the FP UC1 is sold out, I don’t know how your store works but I just wanted to make sure the you were aware of it. But otherwise love the progress keep up the great work!
Thanks for letting us know. Those kits are currently out of stock, however we will work to get more kits ready as soon as possible. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Glad you like them! Although not every car I own, this video might be of interest to you if you haven't yet seen it: ua-cam.com/video/awKAg9TONLU/v-deo.html
Look for luan (phonetic spelling) It is a thin plywood that has some flex. It would make a good ramp surface. Then make a landing ramp. This will give you a landing target. Then use the towel against the wall to save the General.
Higher KV motor, lower torque, but more rpm for top speed. You want lower KV motor for more torque. Like a 3600kv or 4300kv or even a 5800kv will still provide more torque than the 10500kv motor. Obviously the 3600kv or lower like a 2300kv would be more torque heavy than a 5800kv, so the 5800 would be mid balance of torque with decent high rpm available. Possible, the driveshafts will get twisted.

Cool!
Maybe do test with the general Lee,offroading it and seeing how much it can take?

Well it's about time them Duke boys showed up. 01
get wood veneers it’s like small plywood plies
That was cool!
R u gonna do any more rc drift car videos
@@zaid6126 I'm planning on it.
@@DarkDragonWing awesome
Can you make a general Lee to
Watching the ol' lady fly broght back a LOT of fun memories. Thank you for sharing, and looking forward to what comes next!
Use Balsa Wood, it's very light and will easily break when the car hits it.
Balsa wood, or styrene cut into "boards" and glued together.
yup, 1/32" thick balsa cut+glued into scale size hollow 2x4's.
"foam board" with paper removed sliced into "lumber" and gently spray painted from 14-16" away to give color without melting the foam.
Use Balsa wood for the break-away items like the fence boards. You can also score the back a little so it breaks away even easier
What a huge difference between the first jumps and these. This is such a fun build!
Need to make a 1/10 scale of the general Lee. That would be cool!
Been done have one and a 1/16th
Great video...alot of work! So cool....nice guitar too. A classic barn jump...always good.

Awesome build, takes me back to my childhood. I used to love the Dukes of Hazzard - all except for the Coy and Vance episodes, lol.
Balsa wood would be perfect. Light weight. Easy to find at any hobby store. And the general should go right through it no problem.
YES I've been waiting for this for a while now
This is my favorite build I've always loved this car
pre 'break' the wood, and reassemble it like a 3d puzzle that's just balanced together, and will fall apart if you stare at it too hard :) . Gently sprinkle on some super fine dirt (powder paint through a sieve)
Great idea. 👍
You have to make Rosco's car. Have a great chase seen :-).
Blackout the rear panel. It's the only thing missing. Super sick work man

That was epic, super excited for other videos on this! Now we need to see some brushless motor action in the drag gremlin 😄
Thank you! Yeah I've thought about a brushless conversion or at least a faster motor in the Gremlin. Might have to make it happen one if these days.
Super cool! Looking forward to it!

Add a little bit of dirt/dust to the ramp to make it more like the jumps on the show. YEE-HAWW!!!
Make sure to do a freeze frame in midair when you recreate the jump.

Awesome video the car jumped nicely into the air wow 👍🏻👍🏻great job
It flies great!
This series is so professional seeming
Ever thought of using resin as I think it'd be good for the scale your building at.

Nice work well done looks great she runs good gotta love the general Lee very cool 😎 👍
the coolest vid yet fun
Wow your channel has progressed so much congratulations :)
Thank you! Always trying to improve the content.
@@MakeItRC it has improved very much and i really enjoy watching your videos :)
Send it!!!
the dusttrail from the ramp is a musthave in this case
Gotta do the swamp jump. Probably easier to do on the first go.

You have to paint the back panel where the taillights go black, John Schneider made a video about hot to make a general Lee, i highly recommend it
This thing is awesome. Do you sell the chassis? I have a body
I was always fascinated with this car, jumping everywhere.
But I think in real world, this car would need more shock travel, more bracing and larger tires to jump like in TV..
Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey how much do u think it would be worth?
Dude....you totally need to make Roscos police car and film a car chase with a jump at the end ...maybe over a river..👌🏼😜
What esc did you used?
After watching some dukes jumps, I think suspension should be in order. Super soft suspension with fast rebound would look pretty similar to the show
for the jump you talked about at the end you could paint styrofoam as the wood
Great content
I would like to purchase one of these general Lee cars. I would prefer a 1/10 scale? If there's any way we can make that happen?
Have you considered doing a 1/25 awd how too yet?
Are you going to make a diorama creek to jump or something simular, I'm enjoying this series 👍
Yep,now....this will happen as soon as the Duke boys jump over diahrrea creek
Pretty cool series to follow...
Yee Haw...
Nice
aaaaaaaaaahhhhh more General Lee!!!!
I know this is a wierd request, but do you think you could do a few videos on the WPL trucks and modifying them?
You should 3d print a scale version no and Luke duke to stand by the car would be really cool
Btw try boulder creek rail road tutorials for the jump set

@@MakeItRC ok! Have a good day/night
Dig it I am big fan of that car.
You should make a landing ramp for it
you can get cheap wood veneers it’s like the plies in plywood but a lot smaller and thinner
How did you get that?
My idea for smaah throu would be some thin 1mm thick balsa wood for RC planes.
Ultra thin balsa wood might be an idea for a easily breakable wood for a prop
Very nice video
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂🔵🔵🔵
Glue tongue depressors edge to edge. With just a dob of glue. They will look like panels you can even stain them to look good.
"Has a little bit of play in the steering ,I have no idea what could be causing that"
Hucks a plastic toy five feet
i'd recomend balsa wood super light easy to break used to use it alot making rc airplanes
That is Cool!! I bet your last name is Duke. 😉✌🏻👍🏻😎
ayyyy second comment. I love these builds man. Could we get a current line up and drive of each car?
Glad you like them! Although not every car I own, this video might be of interest to you if you haven't yet seen it: ua-cam.com/video/awKAg9TONLU/v-deo.html
Hobby Lobby should have thin sheets and planks of balsa it would have no problem busting though
They destroyed several of the cars during the filming
Throw a little dirt on the ramp and let the dust fly lol
How bout some thin balsa wood to act as barn doors to crash thru?
How can I get one and how much!
I would've taken that bet (unspecified) and would owe you 20 bucks rn. Fun vid.
I would like to where can get rc
You could try bosol wood it will break pretty easy
Use balsa wood for your weak wood issue.
Woodlike? How about those double decker wafer cookies?
Where do I get one?
Brushless motor needs a gearbox for more torque 🤙

He's talking about the barn I bet
Pulls crazy jumps.... cant understand the play in the steering 🤣

Add head lights now
I would like to find where I can get RC electronics so I can turn my models into RC cars
You can find various kits and electronics on our site: shop.makeitrc.com
A more sophisticated sensored brushless system is available
I’d love to buy a chassis for my own project! If only everything wasn’t SOLD OUT
$1129.00 for the whole thing
Are you ever going to make a pickup truck
Hemi orange paint is the answer.
Need a lower kv 2500 or 3500 pn or team powers with senser. Why not just use a mini z chassis
is it possible to make a body with super thin metal that will deform like a real car
Well I’m joining ur fb group
6:36 to 6:42 awnser is ITS THE GENERAL LEE YEHHHAAAAWWW it can do AnYtHiNg
