    I grew up in the 70s and 80s in the PNW riding along with my family and my brother and I in the back of the1969 CJ5; We explored many of the roads in Eastern Washington and in the Olympic forest. My family is all but passed away now and I only have the memories thanks for the video

      Wow! I love CJ’s. I wanted a CJ7 for the longest time. I’ve been really wanting to get one recently, and build it up. The modern rig has too many problems that I can’t easily fix on the trail. I’m researching my options. I had a buddy in high school with a CJ5 and I loved it. We just posted an awesome video of the Olympic variant of a BDR too! Thank you so much for watching!

    I was all in till 6:30 ‘mudding’ instead of taking the gravel path . This is precisely the wreckless behavior that has already resulted in many trails being shut down for motorized use. You are providing ammunition for people like the Sierra Club to further limit our access to the mountains and forests of the PNW and beyond.

    • @TaylorGibleroffroad

      Yeah, maybe you’re right. We certainly recreate responsibly. Pick up everybody’s left behind trash. Donate to the blue ribbon coalition to fight against the Moab shut down. Teach responsible practices, etc. At the time and place, this absolutely appeared like an optional line that we, as well as many others took. Potentially it wasn’t supposed to be used, and if not we regret using it.

      @@TaylorGibleroffroad Our group along with many more in the Naches & Cle Elum Ranger Districts spend a lot of time working on the trails and working with land managers to keep areas open. There is only one legal path in most of the areas we volunteer in. If Law enforcement see you off the the dryer path, you can get a ticket for mudding. Please stay on the dryer path next time you come through our back yard. We what to keep our trails open. Thank you.

    Excellent video!
    We just did section 2 of the WA BDR last weekend. It was our first time out on any BDR. Camped at the top of Bethel Ridge (the hidden viewpoint spot). Our goal for 2nd night was Manastash Ridge Observatory where we camped again and were welcomed with beautiful views and warm weather. Then backtracked to get back on the BDR and finished our off-road adventure in Ellensburg.
    Now all I can think about is going back out again! We are going to do the Utah BDR this October (hopefully the entire thing) and if my family is up for it, we might tackle Section 1 of the WA BDR while we get closer to home (we live in king county).
    We are in a 2023 Subaru Ascent, 2" lift with skid plates and AT tires. It did fantastic over the weekend, better than expected. We will have a full size spare on a hitch mount, winch, rock sliders, and a rear locker all installed before the Utah trip.
    I'd like to do the entire WA BDR route in the future, probably next year at this point.
    Exploring the unknown and seeing things that almost nobody else sees is just wonderful. We are a family of 6 and I hope this addiction of exploring is passed on to our kids (our oldest right now is 10).
    Also, around 6:00 in the video, that looks like the deep ruts on Section 2! We managed to avoid most of them (either go around them or straddle them). Also it was bone dry when we went last weekend, so no mud/water.

    • @TaylorGibleroffroad

    • @TaylorGibleroffroad
      @TaylorGibleroffroad  10 місяців тому

      It’ll do the whole thing! Section two can get muddy and rutted out. Lots of people have to winch their way through it certain times of the year. If I had a stock truck and a winch, I’d absolutely feel comfortable tackling the entire thing. If you go late summer after the mud has dried up, you could tackle it without the winch.

    Great Video, I have run the WABDR a few times, and it's a fun run. I always carry extra filters even with having a snorkel on my JT when I do any long-range runs. I also learn that after my first run down in the Oregon area to change my cabin air filter after each run with all the dust, it gets really full of dirt. The cabin air filter is easy to forget about but trust me it gets more dirt in the dusty areas than the engine filter.

      @@nums01 wow, that’s awesome! I just did a small piece of the Oregon BDR. I’ll upload that shortly. I’ve had some issues with the JT. Specifically, a “service shifter” light on the dash. When these happens, the transmission will no longer change gears. Regardless of speed, and you lose power steering. Pretty awful with 40’s! 😂

    • @nums01
      @nums01 Рік тому +1

      @@TaylorGibleroffroad Right now, I am planning on running the Oregon BDR with a group next year. Dang that would suck not to be able to change gears at any time and to lose power steering would be a hell of a problem to deal with. We live in the mountains 5 miles SW of Cashmere.
    Nine families live on our private road and all 9 of us own a large part of a mountain between 2 canyons.
    We’ve made hiking and quad trails on our mountain.
    If you’re not an owner or have permission from an owner, you’re kindly asked to leave because you’re trespassing.
    The trail head is less than 100 feet of our front door on a different mountain.
    It’s truly a beautiful piece of paradise.

    • @Doc1855
      @Doc1855 6 місяців тому

      @@TaylorGibleroffroad Not at all. I would never even think that way.
      One of them had come across a Yurt and realized that he was on private property. Respectfully he left but had mentioned that he would love to have he and his wife stay there.
      All I was saying is that our mountain is private property and sadly we have to keep it that way. If we didn’t then we’d have people, like those teenagers tearing up the roads that all of us maintain for our pleasure.
      We allow hunters to hunt on the mountain.
      In fact Turkey season is opening up and a friend of mine asked me today if he and a friend could hunt.
      Of course I gave him permission because I know him and his friend and they won’t tear up our trails.
      The mountain that the 9 of us own is a different mountain that our house is on. The 2 mountains are in a “L” shape and the trail head on the other mountain is about 150 feet from our front door.
      I also gave my friend permission to hunt on our personal property as well, which is 54.5 acres and our land buts up to National Forest.
      My friends and I take advantage of 4 wheeling on Forest Roads and logging roads, but we’ll never knowingly trespass on private land.
      Some property owners allow us to pass through their land and others don’t. We respect their wishes.
      I hope this helped clear up any misunderstanding on your part.
      Enjoy your Evening,
      Cheers !

      They aren’t as bad as some people make them out to be. Running a high quality wheel spacer is sometimes necessary to clear aftermarket parts. Ideally you would run the proper offset wheel that you’re looking for. But plenty of Offroad rigs run them without issue. You will put additional stress on wear items, but you would do that with a heavily offset wheel as well. I wouldn’t recommend them just for looks, though.

      All rigs have problems. A 4Runner would be a very poor choice for someone who wants to do rock crawling, as well as overlanding. IFS is not nearly as capable. Along with no front locker. What happened to Mike’s Jeep was due to a flawed air box design. Funny enough, the new Toyotas have the exact same issue. Particularly the tundras. If you go through a deep enough puddle with the new gen tundra, the intake is literally right above the front tires. The front tires push water right into the intake. I watched someone hydrolock their 22’ tundra.

    My bad, but I don’t get it? Just watching jeeps drive through horrible terrain does not look fun. No campfire or cooking or just hanging out together??? Looks like I’ll never be an off-roadie. Lovely photography 😊 I enjoy the personal interest like most women……..

      We did a lot of cooking and hanging out by the fire. Everyday in fact. Thanks for watching!

      It's a jeep thing ?
      But I like off- roadie . . If you like the photography you would love the amazing beauty of being and seeing with your own eyes ,where few are able to get to .
      Washington is a beautiful place to explore . And half the fun is getting there and spending time away from the rush rush rush .
      Good friends and good food .. there is so much to see . It has been 20 years since I had a jeep to get out into the trees , and I've pushed my car to the limits just to get away to the highest places I could . I am building a 4runner now to get farther than I've gone before ..
      I have not traveled this path though I had no clue it existed ..I can't wait to give it a try .

    Not a ghost town fireplace. Was rock creek picnic area/ day use spot until a forest fire a few years ago burnt it all down.was a covered multi picnic table area with the fireplace and vaulted toilets. Huge fire burned it all down in 2018? 2019?
