I'm looking forward to seeing the Brutii of the future. I'm sure after my rule we've only grown, and that... Wait there isn't even the Brutii left? So Egypt can just magic back into existence but we can't?! Psh next you'll be telling me We Romans are no longer unified at all.
Your last sons have gone native Im afraid, The Brutii Dynasty now rules from Constantinople and speak Greek instead of Latin. And Egypt didnt come back from nothing, the empire your family vanquished is in fact dead forever. But in the 8th Century AD a great invasion from the Arabian Peninsula swept across Egypt and North Africa in a manner not unsimilar to the Visigoths
I read about what happened, there is one of the Brutii's greatest strategists called Julianus Vatinius and apparently he just disappeared one day never to be heard from again however they said the stars looked... different. The empire fell apart after that partly due to his son coming up north to look for something, I don't know what...
While indomitable, the Mongolian Horde does need to rest sometimes. So we settled down for a bit of a break recently and met some nice folks called The Timurids. I told them tales of Julianus Vatinius, and they became greatly excited. Like the great emporer, they too use elephants. After I gave them directions, they began laughing and glancing at each other in a manner that is almost sinister... But Mongolians are excellent judges of character, and these Timurids seem like decent folk. So now they're on their way, although they may take quite a while to get there.
They're 200 years away. That's like saying, "General Washington! Why aren't you attacking the Redcoats?" "I'm hunting for Nazis!" "What's a Nazi?" "Just wait a few centuries, you'll see what I mean."
you can't attack a fortress with siege towers alone because they have 2 sets of walls and the towers can't get in through the gates to attack the second wall
i think you can right click on them to re-use them, but im not rly sure, i havent played in years i might start playing again since i've seen a nice mod calles stainless steel.
Pablo Lamatafeliz you can't re-use siegetowers and even if you could they wouldn't get to the second walls because they wouldn't fit throught the gate.
Yes lol, after going on a wall you can take any unit and then right click on the ladders(with the hand icon) and they will pickup up the ladders and you can move them to the next wall
Once upon a time, there lived a very friendly pope. He was the nicest pope in the whole world. (The next pages are torn out, leaving only the very back page of the book) And that's why the "Very Friendly Pope" is no longer allowed near schools.
After much negotiating with the rebels they refuse to stop the war with everybody however there is still hope for Denmark to redeem themselves and bring honour back to their people
Send your merchants to Byzantium. I have a Danish level 10 merchant making 1000+ a turn. It's the best spot I've found. Also you don't need rams for a fortress. The problem with siege towers is that they do not fit through the gate. So you need ladders or a ram. Just not with only siege towers.

I think it's about time we start thinking about peace with Egypt" Oh Jon. The historical accuracy is a bit too close to home.
31:35 the issue with siege towers attacking castles is, that castles have multiple walls you need to take over. If you have only siege towers, you won't be able to take the second layer wall, because you can't push them through the gate (they are too tall). Ladders and rams fit through the gate tho
Just on the topic of assassins, I used my best assassin to take out the pope and the cut scene is pretty epic. Suitable bolt to his pope hat. Worth it just for the animation
Sometimes I despise the pathing lmao like your calvary running into spearmen I had my faction heir drive himself and all the rest of his body guards into the spike stakes I put out in front of my longbows. Due to enemy reinforcements I had to leave my original position where I had the stakes and I brought my heir back to do charges after wrapping up the original enemy force and bam just all 52 of them dead piled on top of one another lmao.
You can't just use towers when taking a castle because of the secondary wall. You can't bring siege towers beyond the first walls, so you require ladders
Day 14 of being stuck in a Jons comment section: While stuck in this damn comment section I manage to bribe a couple of cardinals to vote for this 'corrupt bloke'. I don't know but maybe a corrupt pope will be like "fuck it we'll just buy Jerusalem!!!"
Jon, if you choose for example all your cavalry, group them together, and then ungroup them they'll be set into groups so you can more easily choose them in your battles.
In terms of units and tactics, I reckon the norse swordsmen would be a rather good holding force, and your dismounted huscarls would be a nice flanking force while your cavalry takes care of the back lines (archers, etc.). So having a couple of spearmen as your core, norse swordsmen for protecting the spearmen, huscarls on the flanks and cavalry on their flanks again.
jonsitron11 why do you think the huscarls are better at flanking? The norse swordsmen are better against anti armour units since they have not much armour, and also against less armoured opponents. Huscarls are good against heavily armoured enemies. To flank get a shit ton of templar knights or one of the other knight orders
meinefressekeineahnung wieichdenkackkanalnennensoll I definitely see your point, but as I see it, having the swordsmen as a holding force and using the huscarls as reserves or as a flanking force would allow your cavalry to go against the opponents cavalry or archers or similar. but then again, the AI just bum rush you anyways, so tactics aren't always applied when you play against it...
donashcroft93 1. what do you mean by succesfully? I mean, hitler took a big chunk out of russian territory, and if his only enemy would have been russia he would probably have won. 2. Do you mean russia as a country? Or the region which russia is in? 3. Scandinavians aren't one people.
Does anyone know why Jon couldn't use towers to assault that castle? Because every explanation currently in the comments assumes that castles have more than one wall to break through which they don't. Only fortresses and citidels have multiple walls and it was a regular stone castle.
Jon, stop calling your archers indirect fire. Indirect fire means they shoot without being able to see the target, like mortars, typically after having the enemy's position called in by scouts.
Time to respond to an old comment oh boy. He means indirect fire as in it can fire in high arcs, over hill, walls, buildings, etc. It may not me the exact correct term but it still works just as fine.
It's a venn diagram. Archers are in the middle of direct fire and indirect fire, since they can do both. It is still weird that he just calls them Indirect Fire. It's like calling a set of mounted knights just "Charge." "Alright just move my indirect fire around this side while my charges shimmy around the other"
Admiral Jon, if you wanted real news, you should have bought a copy of Danmark I Dag, the only newspaper willing to tell controversial stories of interest to the public
After you've dealt with the Russians and the Holy Roman Empire you should make a elite army and a big navy to go to America and than call a crusade against the tribes you'll find.
So I just got the game(thank you jon) and I'm Venice(I like the idea of having access to the sea and being Italian)and pope calls for Jerusalem, I take it and Gaza, should I be worried about the Mongols?(although I'm still at turn 30 or something close to it)
yes... Mongolian rape train will not stop when it will come... it will destroy everything in its way.... well... not assasins of course... (quick save spam!)
I noticed how Boleslaw Herman's children doesn't have his last name, much less share the same last name. I wonder if this implies Ingrid have many secret lovers? XD And one of them has Laughamarr, I wonder whether they are laughing at the fact Ingrid may have been hammer. XD
I might be wrong here, but i think the reason that towers can't take castles is because there are one more set of walls after the first, and the towers can't move past the first gate and into the area to the second set....might be wrong though, haven't seen the entire video yet either^^
Now here's a fun Papal story. I had just done the crusade on Cairo and had to spam priests. One of them started with secretly a woman and the +3 piety trait. That priest(ess) became better, then a cardinal. Pope dies somehow, time for the election. I won by a landslide. Now the Pope is secretly a woman. Despite being the Pope and theoretically being able to change the Catechism to allow women to serve God, she lived life as the Pope with literally nobody except me knowing she is a woman.
That sounds like a realistic course. In the Catholic Church, a male-only Prebyterate and Episcopate are both considered Dogma, meaning the only thing that can change is divine revelation. I.e., it's outside the Pope's authority
My old friend reported violence against Byzantine Papists before his Bishops followers were resettled in Alexandria. Why did you continue the evil policies of House Doukas?
I miss the Inquisitors in the original medieval. They'd purge populations of anyone who wasn't Catholic, leading to great religious unity but a terrible shortage of manpower if you weren't careful

Good to see Robert E Lee taking a stance against the Soviet Union.
Finally, Pope Urban II called the ISIS Crusade against Daesh
Indeed, it is good to see Henry VIII calling for the heads of the Austro-Hungarian forces of the Alps.
Norse Swordsmen are better than Huscarls against anti-armour troops: Most of their defense is from their defensive skill, not their armour.
Ahhhh, excellent point.
Swords better against anti-armour troops... ah, no wait... no your right.

Coming to a children's bookstore near you.
Hayden Lane-Davies ... I don't think that's quite child appropriate. Very friendly Catholics and children don't mix.

Oh Jon. The historical accuracy is a bit too close to home.
Jon can now legitimately say "In the name of God!" after everything he decrees in his Danish empire.
28:43 Did you just sum up the Dark Souls experience perfectly in just a few sentence ?
1:01 Can we refer to him as Coleslaw Herman please?
Woo! Corrupted Catholicism! WOOOOOOOO!
Quartz Mech well, there is the kind where your burned at the stake for not wearing a certain type of clothes and missing church one time
ahh, the Spanish kind, the best kind.
My first Medieval ll: TW game i played as Spain, still on it actually.
This is why you should have kept with orthodoxy...
David Canmore No!!! What have you done my religion!! :)
lol I know the papacy was corrupt
I scrolled for ages down this comment section but I haven't found a single Boleslaw Herman.
..."where last time, WE BECAME THE POPE"
Just perfect
My god that speechless zoom in at 30:22 when he discovers the merchant trade for 600+ lmaoo that made my night

nice another episode of Admiral Jon & Friends
Thomas Creamer best show on tv

Adam McCluskey lol best story ever
Jon, if you choose for example all your cavalry, group them together, and then ungroup them they'll be set into groups so you can more easily choose them in your battles.
No one has ever liked Venice. Also Jon please consider the vast selection of great mods for Medieval 2 for you next Total War series.
I would love to see John go for world domination.
Thanks for the episode, Jon

I love the new quality
Good video as always but some friendly advice is to use the "pull through" tactic more often to really get your infantry to grips with the enemy. :)
Jon the Scandinavians are one of only 2 people to have successfully invaded Russia so you should be good me thinks
donashcroft93
1. what do you mean by succesfully? I mean, hitler took a big chunk out of russian territory, and if his only enemy would have been russia he would probably have won.

1. Yeah, he got pushed out and defeated, therefore he was unsuccessful.
2. Don't know
3. So?
Good Afternoon!
I was about to sleep... well I guess I'm not going to
Thanks for this
It's definitely been an entertaining let's play.
Pontus campaign when?
I literally searched the whole internet for an entertaining campaign. Pontus REEEEEEEE
Loving this series Jon, thank you for bringing it to us!
so many good series on this channel
Does anyone know why Jon couldn't use towers to assault that castle? Because every explanation currently in the comments assumes that castles have more than one wall to break through which they don't. Only fortresses and citidels have multiple walls and it was a regular stone castle.
Just wondering how Jon's audience has voted in the election in England. It's got real interesting now.
I am eagerly watching now - looking interesting.
Elect Admiral Jon for prime minister!
Many A True Nerd Yeah. I think Theresa will have to resign if it goes the way the polls are saying now.
How are the polls going?
Thomas Nixon suggesting a Tory lead, but not enough for a majority. Hung parliament looks very likely.
Jon , why don't you try using waypoints ? Shift+Click , super easy .
Jon, stop calling your archers indirect fire. Indirect fire means they shoot without being able to see the target, like mortars, typically after having the enemy's position called in by scouts.
I was wondering about that the whole Rome series...

The Egyptians couldn’t even pay for a ceasefire they ain’t paying for 7350 for a guy
ladders are indestructable. not even cannons can damage them.
Strong and stable innit
-Is Peasantville named Peasantwerp yet? I haven't finished watching the video yet and I wanted to be sure- *city noises*
He renamed it last episode
when you take over the world atack the last sity with only farmer and 1 viking raider just that (and the current king)
I'm glad to report that the DANISH EMPIRE is growing and Jon will kill all his enemies (including the false traitor admiral Jon)
Connor Donahue fake news
Admiral Jon never... never...

Can I just point out that Calais is quite clearly in the Bruges region (in the context of the game, at least)?
So I just got the game(thank you jon) and I'm Venice(I like the idea of having access to the sea and being Italian)and pope calls for Jerusalem, I take it and Gaza, should I be worried about the Mongols?(although I'm still at turn 30 or something close to it)

Thanks :)
no problem :F
13:10 I thought the whole point of this battle was to draw them out of the city anyway?
if there is ever a crusade against Sicily the video has to be titled, pope fransicily
you can transfer ideas from character to character
29:10 Sometimes you just gotta keep sieging...
You've no idea how much, during that whole time, I was hoping for a large force of Polish horsemen charging in from the north.
I think Jon should make a shrine to the Roman Brutii Superman.
Jon do that.
should put a counter in the corner for every time you say flipping
I noticed how Boleslaw Herman's children doesn't have his last name, much less share the same last name. I wonder if this implies Ingrid have many secret lovers? XD
And one of them has Laughamarr, I wonder whether they are laughing at the fact Ingrid may have been hammer. XD
HUNG PARLIAMENT JON! TORIES COULD BE OUT!
good video Jon
Anyone know how to reestablish the Cutscenes for spies and assassins, and other cutscenes, after clicking don't show this again?
Shiono_the_Shade the option is on the window that shows the result.
Episode should have been called: The third "fifth Seige" of Vienna. :p
How fast will the unit break? IMMEDIATELY
The Italians in general have really badass militia troops
Not a strong counterattack, a numerous counterattack ^^
Has anything been nailed to a door yet?
Aww, poor horse...
Please, Jon, if you could you find it in your heart to redo a cities skylines series!
Was going to stop watching the election results to watch this, but that exit poll 😱
I can't blame you - edge of seat stuff...
there is no upkeep for units that are in a crusade..
That Ransom was definitely worth taking, that's a lot of money on offer
I might be wrong here, but i think the reason that towers can't take castles is because there are one more set of walls after the first, and the towers can't move past the first gate and into the area to the second set....might be wrong though, haven't seen the entire video yet either^^
You're not entirely wrong , but if you bust through a wall you can take towers through to the next walls .
Haven't watched the whole vid yet but you should gift Milan's provinces to the Papalcy rather than have yet another front.
YES
Finally I have been waiting to jack off for four days
Now here's a fun Papal story. I had just done the crusade on Cairo and had to spam priests. One of them started with secretly a woman and the +3 piety trait. I... I've been majorly absent from my empire, in recent days. Am I dead? Can anyone hear me? Am I dead!?
In a word.....bugger. Aha, however, it means nought. I shall guide my people, from beyond the grave!
My old friend reported violence against Byzantine Papists before his Bishops followers were resettled in Alexandria. Why did you continue the evil policies of House Doukas?
Team Hungary! Woo!
Saving this for after the election :/
About to study for finals *MATN posts* NOPE
Jon can you play as the English fraction next?
Eli Hale he already said why he wouldn't
He knows. Watch the first episode.
Eli Hale 1. Faction
2. He said he wouldn't.
What does an inquisitor do?
Alan McDonald They give trails to heretics and execute them if they are truly a heretic
I miss the Inquisitors in the original medieval. They'd purge populations of anyone who wasn't Catholic, leading to great religious unity but a terrible shortage of manpower if you weren't careful
They used to chase and murder all your commanders leaving you with big leaderless armies.
The novelty accounts in the comment section are nearly as entertaining as the videos!
Go to the new world
Eastern Territories after 1180, I, too, like to live DANEgerously; You Gaza be kidding me; Winner, winner, Vienna Dinner;
Did anyone see Jons assassins victory dance at 1:38?
Skwimy jimmy
Probably should've pulled in the second force for the fight against Egypt, but then maybe they wouldn't have stood to fight so hard to say.
Got a really good result though
THE HUNGER FOR VIENNA HAS BEEN SATIATED AT LONG LAST! 😂
5th siege is the charm.
Antwerp is not the netherlands 😡
Finally have Gaza. Great position to take everything from Egypt from here. Then take all the rebel stuff then Turkey, then Byzantine and connect the empire gloriously
holy god there is kurdish units in the game they dont look like kurdish peshmarga but still!
and can some one tell me what time this game is set?
medieval times from 1088 if i am not wrong to eh i don't remember
my current game i have 8 cardnils
are you working your way up through the total war games?
rip vikinggrad
ayyyy
There has been an imam outside Gaza for like 3 episodes.
the norseswordsmen also look more badass
