- The perimeter of the 15,000sqft goat run is complete, 2 of the paddocks sectioned off, gates installed, electric hot and goats are in!
We also moved some dairy does into the barn to prepare them for kidding.

This is how farm life goes - you must devide your work and attention according to priorities of a day or a season, and can not concentrate only on one thing, no matter how badly you woud like to. By the way I love Josh joining beards with the goat. And an orange shirt highlights it just perfectly 😂😂😂

That really turned out to be a nice paddock/side pasture area, and yes, the animals getting set for winter..and beyond is just as important as the house, and you all did a great job on it(including the little helper/sword wielding task master who kept you on task ;) Try to find a organic wood preservative(or make your own,directions on the web)for those wooden posts though, to make them last longer, as nature surprisingly goes through them quick if you don't.

I’ve used the bucket on our tractor to drive posts and yep I’ve bent a few and nope it’s doesnt work well at all in dry soil. Gotta tell ya baby girl just makes me smile. I have a soft spot in my heart for little kids.. I expect most people do. Good plan with the goats and the gates.. enjoy your videos.

When cutting the fence wire with the linemen plyers it leaves a sharp end sticking out that can cut. I take needle nose plyers and rotate the end back on itself flush to prevent this.

Instead of moving gates make some wire strand ones.. You can simply add a short wire from your hot wire to keep the goats honest. Spring loaded handles are much cheaper than gates. In NZ we also made gates from wood battens and wire net.

Usually at the corners or end posts there is a second post some convenient distance away from that post on the inside of the run and then a diagonal post placed between the top of the end/corner post to the base of the second post, bracing the post. This keeps the corner post straight and helps hold the tension on the wire.
