Hi guys! On this episode of my series, UX Exercises, we are going to talk about Empathy Maps. More specifically, when to use them, what clients this works best for, how to facilitate one in person and remotely, and a bunch of other tips I've learned along the way⭐ Also, sorry about the aspect ratio - I'll have it fixed for the next video. See you next time💖
Developed a complex product a year ago. I integrated empathy interviews and empathy map into our product dev roadmap. Truly helped. The product is currentlt our strongest revenue driver.
Lol I actually really appreciate her speed, but that's probably because I usually watch tutorials at 1.5x speed :p. Also, I like how straight to the point she is 😍
Hello, yes there is a difference. From what I understand: An empathy map is the tool that helps you understand the customer's perspective on the app (i.e how they interact with it) and a user persona is the profile you make from researching who the user is as a human being (their likes/dislikes/problems/sometimes cultural background/how they use tech) so that you can design an app that they will smoothy use. But the user persona differs depending on your goal. If it's for app design, it will be different from the user persona you make for a marketing campaign and so forth.
Very good explanation but why so fast? I see this a lot on UA-cam where presenters are speaking at ungodly speed and I spend the whole time rewinding and trying to figure out what was said. Ifitwaswrittendown, itwouldlooklikethis. I mean, sure, I can figure it out but if the idea is to keep the attention or something, I don't get it. I skip over people that I know use this tactic because it's too much work to get the information I'm looking for.
Hi Charli and thanks for this great informative video. Do you have some tips or video on how to create presentations in Figma? I find it a bit too time-consuming if I do it so I think this means there is a better way :) Would be great if you have some tips on it, thanks!
hi Sofia! ohh that's a great idea, I don't have a video on that yet but I've definitely had to learn a few tricks to pull one together pretty quickly lol I'll be sure to make a video on that and share ^^ thanks for watching

Is this the same as an affinity map or can you utilize the same Think, Say, Feel & do? Thanks.

I wish your videos had playback speed controls.
Helpful video, just a suggestion. Can you speak a little slower, you are talking too fast. 😅
you can edit the speed in youtube if it's too fast for you ;)

Thank you so much for this helpful video your explanation is excellent
Great Charli!
Your examples you give are useful but I feel the video explanation is little fast , for a beginner like me. Thank you
Woooww, great explanation. Concise and didactic, thanks! :)
Wouldn't you ideally make empathy maps based on user input, rather than base it off assumptions made by stakeholders?
That's the question i want to ask too, is it okay to base on assumptions?
Nice explanation! Your exemple is really useful for understanding the use for the empathy map and to think about other aplications.
that's great to hear! thanks for watching ^^
Hi may i know what microsoft laptop is that?
Is there any difference between empathy maps and personas am confused

Do the colours of your post its reflect anything?
as a note i find it hard to understand the ideas, talking fast and the sound balance go to the right ear on my earphones it is noisy
Is there any work that you can recommend for there in canada?
I love you ❤️ for making things very easy and understandable 😂😁
Thanks for this Charli.
thanks for watching!
Wait so about how many other UX designers do you work with?
depends on the project - usually anywhere from 2 to 5

FYI, you can adjust the speed of a video
Can you only use empathy maps for products that require redesign or can it work for new mvp's as well?
hello~ I've used empathy maps for mvps. They're a great way to build empathy and start brainstorming :)
Thanks for the video
