Interesting strategy Steven. I look forward to a future video where you discuss your results. Stay strong and safe everybody!

I'm excited to try something new and different. Why not ? Having fun with it is what it's all about Tom.

I did something like this 20+ years ago. Would just use 315 on the bench and just make it fly off the chest. Lift it fast as I could. Wasn't worried about full range either like I am now. Didn't know anything about westside, chains, bands, etc. Just thought moving it fast was good. It did get me very strong, but in hindsight I would have got much better results working in doubles, triples, and singles.

Very interesting. Incorporating singles, doubles and triples while doing lower weight sets. I'm guessing heavier singles, doubles and triples. So far I'm seeing good results, but I've been thinking of going to 5X5's in a few months. Seems like I'm sore after every squat and deadlift workout. Thank you for the suggestion.

Started when I was 31. Got to a 275 bench, 405 squat and a 420 deadlift. If I didn't have lifting ADD, was in a better mindset and wasn't so eager to hit numbers I probably could have surpassed that. But I crashed hard and so did my CNS and overall mental burn out with it. No matter what I had to know that I was walking around with those numbers and that strength at all times and deviating from it and putting in volume to build muscle, which I did here and there and could feel it aid me and feeling fuller and more solid and stable when lifting the heavier weight. But it didn't last long. Here I am now at 40 wishing I can get back into it, which I probably will but man if only I would have did it right when I was 31 and holy shit considering what I got to at that age I don't even know what I could have done if I had the confidence and was a different young man in my late teens and early '20s. But better midway and late than never.

You have quite a few years left my friend. This past year I hit 310 on the bench, touch and go and 305 for a pause rep at 64 years of age. There isn't anytime like the present and nothing bad about trying new things. Why not ? Trial and error. I believe that the most important thing is having fun with it by not putting added pressure on ourselves. I have certain goals, but what if it takes longer than I planned to reach them ? One day at a time my friend. Best wishes with your training.
