How is this song only 6 and a half minutes long? It feels so much longer. It contains so much, so many phases, so many emotional shifts, so many memorable lyrics. I could swear I've been sitting here watching it for the length of a 10 or 11 minute piece perhaps.
Cause its the 6 music festival
it feels longer, but it also at the same time feels like it goes by too fast. I get the same vibe with Sunglasses, like it never feels like it goes on too long or gets boring, but it also feels like the most grandiose and lengthy performance of all time
If you like this kinda stuff I'd recommend the new Ethan P Flynn record and particularly the 16 minute Crude Oil

I'm really excited to see where this band goes in its career. The debut is excellent, and yet I feel they're yet to truly escape the shackles of their influences.
Definitely, they're good but they'll get better. In fact, their unreleased music that's probably gonna be on the next record is better than anything on the current one.

in an interview, isaac said they were more or less just getting out this album just to have the sound of this era of the band out, their sound on the next album and from the new songs we’ve heard live are way different and they just wanted this period of the band out before they completely ditch it.

The song still has an amazing start and end, but I hate how in the new version the middle is just so dull to the point it's almost just silence...
i see this as the way they’re going with the new tracks. Track X was maybe my least fav off the album but it really feels they’re pushing away from the rockier darker side and into i guess more pretty, slower songs (bread song, basketball shoes) tbh im not blown away by these new ones or the athens france version :(
How is the middle "dull to the point where it’s almost silence" the fuck? What have been listening to? The instrumental break is genuinely one of best parts of the song.

When I first heard of Black Midi's music, I knew that somehow they were shaping rock's new sound and future. This song proves my point.
I feel like it’s kinda wrong to say bm influenced them, they’re friends of each other and came up at the same time, bm just happened to blow up a little before them. I’d say both bands styles are different enough that they’re both going to become huge bands with tons of influence, that’s not exclusive to black midi.
@@tyde4610 I’d go as far as to say they’re completely different genres. Black MIDI is post punk while BCNR would fall more under the post rock umbrella.

This sounds like Rodan, Slint, Telephone Man & June of 44 (all from Louisville, Kentucky circa 1989 - 1994ish), got together and played again... Not sure if it's a homage or a ripoff. Regardless, bravo.
