I Drive the new link road Blackpool to Lytham

- I take a drive to Lytham from Blackpool along the newly opened Lytham St Annes Way link road which connects Lytham & St Annes with the M55 motorway.
The road was previously a single track lane, which was very bumpy & not very safe. The existing lane, Wild Lane, runs along the new road as a bridal & cycle path.
See here for info on the new road news.lancashire.gov.uk/news/t...

Should have said Bridle 🐴 not bridal way 👰♀️
We knew what you meant
believe me 20 years ago bridal was definitely the correct terminology 🚗🎆😉😉😉😁
I love Lytham St Ann's 😊thanks for sharing Stephen 👍
Used to drive the single track road 4 times a day for many years when I lived locally... so much fun, had a jeep at the time and bounced the bumps, wonderful memories.
YOU PASSED MY DOGS FAVOURITE POO BIN THIS MORNING.WENT OUT LATER IN THE DAY.LYTHAM AND BACK ON MY BIKE, ROUND TRIP GREAT.NICE BRIDLEWAY.JOB WELL DONE...AT LAST! NICE VID THANKS
Stephen you need to go down to fairhaven lake.
It’s paradise down there.
So big and open and geese everywhere.
I went down on my bike for the first time in 3+ years and now I go down there every now and then because of how beautiful it is!
I remember Radar road too, it used to end at the Shell garage on Heyhouses Lane…..great time flying down there at night 👍🏻
Cheers for the memories Stephen
Ahh yes, I remember it coming out of there now.
Yes, years before Cypress Point
Cheers Stephen, I had to laugh when you said about the ditches at the side of the road, most of the roads around here are like that, very narrow and deep ditches on both sides, can be a little hair raising at times, especially after dark. You get used to reversing a lot around here as well as many of the roads have hedges right on the road edge and there aren't many places to pull in to let someone pass coming the other way, so reversing becomes second nature. Not a lot of fun when the roads are icy. 😂
I remember Radar Lane. A long long time ago my then boyfriend let me drive his car even though I couldn’t really drive. Needless to say we ended up in the ditch. 😂
Thank-you Stephen for this interesting and helpful vlog. Since your vlog on Lytham St. Annes we have started going to The Trawlers Boat in St Annes for our evening meal. Strangely about a year ago the Wetherspoons in Blackpool stopped selling steak but since your vlog we have found out that both Wetherspoons in Lytham and St. Annes sell steak! Anyway we've been using the Queensway route to get back to Progress Way then onto to Haven Marton Mere. We'll be investigating if this new route is an improvement for us. I think we know Blackpool better than Reading!!
I enjoy your video's STEPHEN keep up the great work lot of things change last time it was 2015
Cool. I remember the road and sometimes wonder if the little western town with saloon, barbers, etc is still there.
Loved this video Stephen, thankyou. The road looks great. The houses were very very swanky 😅. I'd need a win on the Euros Millions for one of those😂😂😂😂😂❤
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always what a lovely road to drive down love Lytham such a nice place have a great day xx
Glad you enjoyed it Wendy x
Crikey, I can remember going "Across the Moss" when i was learning to drive. Very scary for a learner driver! 😂
Thanks for this video Stephen and I hope you are feeling better again. I'm lucky enough to have friends in Lytham and visit them a couple of times a year. Lovely area.
Thanks again for another informative vlog Stephen
Stephen. It must have been great driving on the new road. Knowing you weren't going to have to do ,evasive pothole maneuvers.👍
Hi Stephen. Thank you very much for letting us know what is going on in and around Blackpool. Your videos are always interesting. Hope that you have a great weekend 👍🥰❤️
You are very welcome Mildred.
Great video Stephen and looking forward to the Les Dawson video 🎭

Thanks Richard.
Love the driving videos
You had more success at the posh end of Lytham than me Stephen😂 Great drive about there sir, happy weekend Mr Blackpool
Great Video Stephen keep up your amazing Videos and your hard work, thanks for all your videos
Good addition Stephen
Thank you for this video, Stephen. Good to see the improvements in my end of town. A long time since I've been down Radar Road and Cropper Road is vastly improved. Will go this way the next time I visit the Fylde Coast and make my first call to Lytham Kitchen for breakfast.
Nice drive Stephen thanks 👍 x
Fantastic Video. Well Done.
Hi Stephen 🤚 the new road looked beautiful. This should help ease, some of the traffic jams.
Thanks for the video Stephen, hopefully this road will be a lot safer than the dirt track and ease the congestion elsewhere.
Hate it when garden centres are closed for the land to have houses built on them. 😊😊😊
We will have no green land left in no time!😮
😢
very nice road les dawson old school sadly gone
Great video Steve.
Thank you for sharing x
Looks beautiful down that exclusive lane. I guess quite a few northern celebrities have lived down there. Would be an interesting vlog.
Don't be fooled, a lot of fur coat and no knickers, had relatives who lived down there.
I used to live in Marton and travel Radar Rd to get the kids to KEQMS school (Closed down now) I used to fold the mirror in. If that new road had been built sooner I wouldn't have moved.
thanks Stephen for another great video
Used to be many greenhouses this part of the Fylde . Mostly gone , I believe, unable to compete with subsidised Dutch tomatoes.
Stephen! Thanks for sharing this . I went on this road to see my mother in Lytham today. It took 10 minutes of my journey and was a mile and half less to travel. No queues or traffic lights!! It's great!!
And no pot holes!!
Great stuff.
I believe I drove on that road you’re talking about it was in my first car that was 2010 and land was bare ditches on either side of the road
I had a drive along it today, very nice and smooth. It will certainly help clear some traffic off Queensway. I wonder how the residents of Cyprus Point will cope with the many lorries and extra traffic? Watch this space!
Thanks Steve, another excellent vid - cheers.
Well, that is a good point. Still, I’m sure when Cypress Point was completed, they would half expect a better road linking to the motorway than the one which was there already.
Nice road and hardly any traffic.
Thank you sir, another top video ….Smithy
Another great Vlog looks like a good road should take some of the traffic away from others roads in the area. A road with output potholes nice. It's a shame that all these new housing estates are taking over such lovely green fields everywhere. They should keep towns in town and leave the countryside for people and animals to enjoy.
What a good quick route. Cuts out the bottlenecks. Didnt realise that garden centre had gone. Not been round that way for ages. Good to bump into you last week in the Imperial car park after the Nigel Farage gig. Cheers Thea x
Nice one Stephen. Couldn’t help notice that all the cars driving along were high end cars🤔
Hello Steve how are you love your vidio very interested best wishes take care stay safe xx ❤😅😅
Great interesting video, I wonder why not been classified as a b road perhaps , as it’s a main link road. Regards mark
the Garden Place moved to a unit on the industrial estate in May - as per the map you show at 0.36. The cropper lane site has been sold for house building (some 50 units) and planning permission was granted in May. Original road plans were for a by pass all the way from Warton behind Lytham then St Annes but that never happened. Cropper Road had to be resurfaced given that the new link road is going to make it much busier. There was supposed to be money from Kensington from the Cypress Point development to contribute to the relief road which was planned years go but whether that happened or not, who knows. The old Radar Road was fun.... narrow and with potholes on the edge. I knackered a wheel once. And very busy. You should have done a circuit of not just Regent Road but Islay Road. Les Dawson was one the celebs that lived down there. Glad i saw this today as i have to go to St Annes this morning and didnt know it had opened!!!
I used to do gardening at a property on Islay Road when Les Dawson was living nearby, but I never did see him.
The Garden Place has moved to an industrial estate right around the corner. You wouldn't even know it was there. They're now opposite Andy Meatman butchers and next to Direct Windows. There's a great glasses shop across from them too! 👓
I use to live on mereside and radar road was great to drive down. Brings back memories. I must be one of a few and say they should have left it the way it was. It was a rite of passage to drive down when we were kids. I miss Blackpool so much but glad I am out of the place.
Indeed it was I loved it
Just been on Radar Road in my company van at 3am watching a Barn Owl hunting.
Hi Stephen thanks for another great informative video hope you feeling better 😊
Cropper Lane (Crapper lane if you knew it when it had farms on it) is where my mums caravan was sited years ago opposite where that garden centre was. been in that garden centre/nursery far too many times!! birds got in all the time too. they had a free roaming parrot and you had to be careful what you said because he picked words up 😛
it used to be awesome in the evenings because of all the bunny rabbits that used to run around the campsite area - in fact, my mums friend used to sit on her van doorstep and be so still, she'd have them coming up to her sniffing her ankles out. I'm going to hazzard a guess that the rabbits that have been seen around Blackpool are the ones from Cropper Lane that have been displaced due to all the work that's gone on there. my estimate puts those houses at at least 12 years - I know my mum got on well with the owners, stating he was thinking of selling up. well, he did!
on a good day, we were treated to the Red Arrows flying in/out.
is Blackpool Caravan Club still on the other end of Cropper Lane or have they sold up too?
It’s great to be back riding in the trusty StarBus!
Indeed!
Enjoyed the video stephen. thank u 😊
I give it a week before that lovely tarmac is dug up by a utility company leaving behind pot holes😂.
Please let us know if there's some!! 🤣🤣🤣
It isn’t a radar station for the airport, it’s an autopilot beacon for the Civil Air authority which is used for all international air traffic
summer has officially arrived in blackpool stephens got his yellow t-shirt on ☀️
Yes!
Opposite the Radar Station entrance there is a lane that leads to ballam. Many years ago there was a pig farm on the corner as well.
We used to race that road to see how quickly we could get to Wrea Green.
When I came to Blackpool last week, I got directed off the M55 down the new road. I didn't have a clue where I was until I saw Farmfoods in Waterloo Roads 😂😂😅😅
It may be safer but nowhere near as much fun as the old moss road. Lost the odd wing mirror over the years. Good times.
I just looked at the old road layout on Google Earth. The old road looks crazy. I wouldn’t have driven down that in the daytime.let alone at night.
Aaaah no it was ace....so much fun
A map would be good 👍
My mum used to live in lytham st annes
Watching from Canada, Woodstock Ontario ... nice video.. Alan.
Thanks for watching Alan
It's taken 28 plus years to build, most of Dubai has been built in that time lol 😁
Les dawsons house would be a great watch
Could you do a video on the new housing estate where Pontins used to be in Lytham as used to go there on holiday as a kid and had fond memories. Would be interested to see what it is like now.
The top end near Squires Gate is a right rough hole
A bit jealous, we don't do infrastructure upgrades in Scotland.
Hi Stephen
Good video though it's BRIDLE not bridal way.
nice video... so when are you going to ride your bike down the road?
Great idea 💡
Is that the old Baguleys garden centre?
Not quite. That is a little ways down the road, but I do remember Baguley’s. I used to deal with Mick when I worked at the tennis club.
Good video but I'm worried about the impact on the swans babies wildlife that habitat near by...
Hi Stephen thanks for the drive on the new link road, how long did it take to construct and how much did it cost ?
Until the next one, don't forget to vote for change on July the 4th
2 years and 24 million.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool In my opinion, that's just crazy for just one mile of road... Just think where that money could of been used in a much more fulfilling project. I don't get it, that it took two years to complete such a short link road...
Hi Steven lm coming to backpool next Wednesday Thursday Friday will you be out and about I would love to meet you😊
"Radar Road" has NOT been closed for ten years. Nowt like it! Ok, the stretch that runs up to Whitehall Road/School Road has been shut for a while as it collapsed away completely
What's the most interesting or best pub you would recommend in Blackpool Steve? Growing up and living in Manchester, Blackpool has always been a frequent visit for most of us
The Saddle.
Definitely the Saddle.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Cheers, we'll have to check it out
Spoons can be very interesting.
@@kkenny1272 I'm sure 😅
Hope your alternator didn't cost too much
£300
Posh street lights 🤔
