Get to Gorton, Clayton, Openshaw & Beswick. A lot has changed now of course but back in the 90s & 00s that was a rough little area. Moss side has improved massively now compared to how it was. And not forgetting the old Bull Ring in Hulme, the “party estate”. But Salford is a city in its own right & some of its places are pretty bad rough TBF. Great video though mate. Good stuff. 🙏🏼
Yeah but surely you can't be watching these videos & assuming the whole of the UK is like this. The clue is in the titles & it's not a scenic tour of Alderley Edge!!
This is what annoys me about Miss Side, why can't people put their rubbish in the bin? Or get rid of bigger stuff properly. No need to throw it out on the street. And you wonder why it gets a bad reputation for being scruffy.
I grew up around here, it's definitely not the roughest estate in Manchester. It's also nowhere near Wythenshawe, you've got Whalley Range, Chorlton, Northenden, Sale Moor, etc. between them. Take a wander through North Manchester or Broughton in Salford, they're rough as a badger's arse.
Grew up and lived in Manchester then moved with my parents to rossendale lancashire when I was around 19. Although we still work in Manchester we don’t regret the move. It’s always an interesting conversation topic here or back in Manchester cause it seems like everybody here wants to move to Manchester and everyone in Manchester congratulates me and wishes they could move out 😂
Wythenshawe did have a reputation back in the day. Like everywhere else, it’s not where you go it’s what you do and who you go with. Back on topic of Wythenshawe, while it still has its social ills and what not the area has improved thus its a tight nit community.
Lived here all my life and can safely say there has always been the tossers and nut jobs, but they were all tucked away in little pockets. I grew up on Benchill rd and in those days, most of my neighbours well spoken and quite posh. Whenever I meet up with old friends who I grew up with there, they all say the same thing, we couldn't have wished to have grown up in a better time or place.
Just the one pub there now? Dreadful. Went to Moss Side a few times when I lived near Manchester and the people were more genuine than some of the more well heeled parts of the NW.
If you haven’t already, I’d recommend going up to the north east. Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland and the old mining towns above would be a gold mine for your channel.
I think you should try and cover Brinnington, that was a while ago one of the most depressed places in the country. It's gotten a bit better than what it used to be but still needs a bit of coverage.
@@honestplaces Yeah idk what happened to the place now, I guess it just attracted the wrong people overtime. Nothing to really do here apart from a gym, b&m and library. There used to be fairs outside the first house library and GoLocal but they seemed to of stopped those events because less and less people went to them not many people wanted to setup a stall there. (If you wondering where that is, it's opposite the road from the post office, there used to be a marketplace there but it got all turned into townhouses, shop and library) I feel like you just genuinely don't see a lot of outdoor community events in the UK anymore as you used to, mostly councils and big brands doing them now but it's not common at all. Can't tell if we got lazier overtime...

No rough pubs in moss side it’s a Muslim area and they don’t drink so the pubs are empty

Lived in Manchester for 10 years and in my experience Little Houlton was by far the worst place i visited in Manchester.
Not talking gang crime, but Moston, Harpurhey, Monsall, Beswick, Miles Platting and parts of Gorton are all just as bad in terms of day-to-day crime.
Gorton is grim. 100%
Platting gardens now mate gentrification 😂
Timperely is probably the worst

Get to Gorton, Clayton, Openshaw & Beswick. A lot has changed now of course but back in the 90s & 00s that was a rough little area. Moss side has improved massively now compared to how it was. And not forgetting the old Bull Ring in Hulme, the “party estate”. But Salford is a city in its own right & some of its places are pretty bad rough TBF.
Great video though mate. Good stuff. 🙏🏼
Lovely video mate. I appreciate the work!!

Cash only pub in 2024, unbelievable
Can be quite annoying
Some bars in London are card only! Well, phone payments too, but you get the idea.

Would love to know how many pubs there were in 70/80s between it was an experience then

Moss Side is a great area with good community. Most of the fly tipping is outsiders cruising off the Parkway. We do care about our area x
I moved to Australia from the UK, these videos blow my mind, UK looks like a toilet now.
Alot of Brit folks who moved to Aus say the same
Yeah but surely you can't be watching these videos & assuming the whole of the UK is like this. The clue is in the titles & it's not a scenic tour of Alderley Edge!!
Should get some T - Shirts made with your favourite saying (Is What It Is) love the content as always.

@@honestplaces 🤣 that's OK then. He said it so matter of factly, Jesus lol
This is what annoys me about Miss Side, why can't people put their rubbish in the bin? Or get rid of bigger stuff properly. No need to throw it out on the street. And you wonder why it gets a bad reputation for being scruffy.
Moss side is like a third world country. Grew up there as a kid. Sad to see how 💩 the area has become since Maine Road has gone.
Iv lived in wythenshaw it's not rough at all and iv never considered Salford to be rough. Moss side is definitely the roughest place in Manchester
Yeh 100% Wythen isn't that bad, aint been Salford in years but Moss Side is just scruffy and still gangy
Wythen not rough at all? Its a shit hole, should go in the red beret for a pint.
Besides Cheetham Hill.
You're rough as they come, aren't you? 😂lol.
No offence intended.
Timperely is pretty rough too
Grew up and lived in Manchester then moved with my parents to rossendale lancashire when I was around 19.
100% true
Lived here all my life and can safely say there has always been the tossers and nut jobs, but they were all tucked away in little pockets. I grew up on Benchill rd and in those days, most of my neighbours well spoken and quite posh. Whenever I meet up with old friends who I grew up with there, they all say the same thing, we couldn't have wished to have grown up in a better time or place.
Anywhere can be dangerous. Its people who are, not the area. People still have to live, work and basically function.
Just the one pub there now? Dreadful. Went to Moss Side a few times when I lived near Manchester and the people were more genuine than some of the more well heeled parts of the NW.
Yeh mate, guy said there used to be like 10. Shame iniy
Great epsiode as always bro! You'll have to come to nottingham to do and episode or 2, there's pently of rough pubs all over the city

The Moss!! Claremont classy joint
Not too bad 🤣
I think you should try and cover Brinnington, that was a while ago one of the most depressed places in the country. It's gotten a bit better than what it used to be but still needs a bit of coverage.
Been there plenty of times as a kid. Wasn't too bad then
@@honestplaces Yeah idk what happened to the place now, I guess it just attracted the wrong people overtime. Nothing to really do here apart from a gym, b&m and library.
There used to be fairs outside the first house library and GoLocal but they seemed to of stopped those events because less and less people went to them not many people wanted to setup a stall there. (If you wondering where that is, it's opposite the road from the post office, there used to be a marketplace there but it got all turned into townhouses, shop and library)
I feel like you just genuinely don't see a lot of outdoor community events in the UK anymore as you used to, mostly councils and big brands doing them now but it's not common at all. Can't tell if we got lazier overtime...
People in the comments saying Wythenshawe isn't that bad 🤣I've Lived all over Manchester and Wythenshawe is by far the worst i had 2 bikes stolen in a month.... also you need to make sure to Lock your car doors at night there always groups of teens checking cars, and if your looking for a rough pub Go to the silver birch they Literally sell to 15 year olds also a popular Spot for dealers to sell from

Ask someone from south Manchester and they'll tell you somewhere like Harpurhey, Openshaw or Collyhurst is the roughest.
Ask someone from north or east Manchester and theyll tell you Moss Side or Wythenshawe is the worst.

My dad grew up in Salford. We went down a memory lane drive, daytime. All nice and peaceful until 3 guys tried to throw a man in front of our car, We were doing about 40.
Sounds about right 🤣
I remember driving round Moss Side in the 80s and seeing random houses with bars over their windows and doors.
Sounds about right 🤣
Its like that around Bradford. Loads of terraced houses with them.
Harehills, east end park, beeston and burley in Leeds iron bars on doors and windows for at least thirty years now looks bleak
In the 80's I wAs given a house in Hulme OMG we went out to the bull ring flats that had shops underneath them people were great, but whilst out at the shops someone had smashed all our windows gets back home and it was swarming with police telling me I had to go into a refuge,I asked why I couldn't go into my own home, police said it was far to dangerous.😮so off me and two kids went to a refuge in cheetham hill omg i was absolutely terrified..I wanted my home back.. got on a train straight to Colwyn bay. North Wales stayed in a hotel then got a two bed flat..whoever did that back then to my home, also smashed all my little children's beds cut all there clothes up police did say it wasn't the place I should of been living in my answer were all human beings.maybe it was someone who was angry but not at me I loved the ppl there great video 😊

You didn't actually go on the 'Estate' it's on the other side of Princess Rd. Alex Park 'Gooch and Doddington estates. Do another one on there and go in the Western Pub if its still open 👍🏾
Salford not in Manchester for 1
Even if it’s not standing in the heart of the city centre of Manchester 5 min walk down the road leads you to Salford takes a tad bit longer to get to moss side no matter what hands down end of story so people would class Salford a part of Manchester Rochdale Ashton these places are still classed as in Manchester and are towns in Manchester so dont you even start you weirdo

All rough places from the past are much better nowadays, with the Internet, young lads don't hang about like they would have in the 80s and 90s, the Internet and technology has made the world a safer place, most beefs in crappy areas are usually friends or families over money or drugs.
