My only gripe is that it is a bit slow. Optimization is needed. Otherwise, it's an amazing app. Kudos to the devs.
It's frustrating when third party developers can make something that good looking, uniform, and powerful. The fact that right click - see more option in Windows 11 just bring up old version of right click without any makeover while Files v2 simply can do that.
But it still feels slow, definitely need more on that but it's good.

omg this is soooo much better than the default file explorer. and omg i would LOVE cover flow to return, it's literally the reason why im holding onto an older version of macOS
Tried this, It's amazing and definetly good but the only thing is that it feels slow, sometimes its laggy sometimes it crashes.
Overall great third party app.
I commend you for taking the time and effort to show us new things. But for me, the windows explorer is integrated into the system, so it is a lot faster. For example if you open network devices it takes 3 minutes to show your network, while in WE it takes just a click!
I tried this a few months ago and I recall there being some issues (crashing, etc...I forget some) but it should get better with time.

I like the app but 2 issues for me were; it did t work with quicklook, and it didn't update the amount of drive space displayed when deleting files. It is sluggish, I'm going to keep using it for a couple months to see if it gets better.
The app is very nice. The problem is a little buggy and slow. The interface is great! Better than the default Windows File Explorer.
how do you extract stuff. i tried downloading tricky mod, and it wouldn't do the default file explorer. this is the only reason i got this, but idk if you can extract the mod.
They need to add remove animation option ... For some computers its slower ...

You have to again install this application and make this one as default file
Then after you have to remove it from default and after this you can uninstall this and boom

I love it, but, I don't understand how to make a zipped file I guess? I can create a zipped file, but it's empty. I'm not able to select a bunch of files and send it to a zipped file. Any advice?
Apparently, the Dev hasn't added that feature yet.
why cant i drag things, for example a "folder" out to the desktop without this popup menu where i manually need to press "Move here". Anyone know how to make it so it just insta drops on the desktop.?

While this is to-tal-ly the prettiest file manager an earlier version had one infuriating problem: when my media player is open ANY FILE OPERATION STARTS MEDIA PLAYER PLAYBACK. Still not fixed in 2.4 so I deleted it again. Will try again in a year or so.
I need the details pane on the bottom! Can this app do this?
Its sad that a small indie company like Microsoft cant put the resources to renovating their file manager :/
It is a nice looking application with a very good potential for the future. But it feels quite sluggish, has large memory consumption and is too mouse-centric to provide a real productivity boost. Its dual pane mode is not really useful. It has serious bugs e.g. all my drives disappeared for some unknown reason after a while and they do not appear again even if I restart the application. There are many animations which look impressive at the first but they lack any real purpose, they just make things moving around screen... I prefer my file manager to be more traditional ("Norton Commander" real dual pane-style), keyboard-centric (for highest productivity) and slick, fast and light-weight. And nice looking too. So finally I had to program my own - it is called HiFile. :)
i cant use the run system, or app data with this new files, can someone help me fix this?
Perhaps I'm missing something here. I want to expand the drives folder on the left pane to see the contents of individual folders like I can do in File Explorer. How do I do that in the Files App?
Found it - its columns, but the interface is too slow particularly preview pane. Going back to using file explorer.

Can u help me with options like “Move to” or “Copy to” in this app, cant figure out where it is.
"Copy to" seems to only be "Copy". And I don't see a "Move to". So I would assume you'd just "Cut" then paste where you want it to go.
HOW DO I MAKE IT MY DEFAULT
Unable to send a particuar files or files from pc to mobile via bluetooth directly from Files app. This is a defect. You cannot send anything from pc to pendrive directly from files app.
Just installed this app and using it as default. Two issues: it doesn't open ZIP files like Explorer and it does not open when you double click a folder on the desktop (it still opens with Explorer). These are quite big issues.
I don't think Microsoft allows changing out the default Windows Explorer for third-party equivalents.
Hey I know I'm a little late, maybe it got added in a recent update but I'm not experiencing any of those issues. Zip files open the same as in FE, and as a part of installing Files it set itself as the default. Folders from the desktop open just fine.
Also you won't able to use explore in safe mode
I've closed Files App, but Files process is still running in the background and consume more than 30% CPU resource. It is a bug……

Unfortunately the app feel really buggy on my end. Stuff like clicking tabs or files feel unresponsive. I've moved to One Commander (with also a somewhat modern UI) for now, but this app feels promising if they fix and optimize it.

I really like this application but when I was using it to copy over my important documents and files and it crashed I realized then that I could never risk using it on my computer. The only real feature it has that I need is tabs which is now available in windows 11, or if you're still on windows ten you can get a program called "groupy".
Used it for about a week. But opening any folder just took way too long.
YOU CAN ALSO CHANGE THE THEMS IF YOU WANT.

hey do u know how to undo the default file explorer setting?
Idk if you fixed it already but the newest version is just a toggle in settings. Just turn it off and it goes back to normal.

This thing is almost perfect. The main one I really wish it had, was the way you can drag and drop windows in chrome. I want to just drag the tab "out into a new window" and then if you I want to drag one tab from one window to another, I want it to just pop it right in like the way chrome does. That sort of thing. We're so used to tabs in web browsers, why not emulate their behavior?
I do also wish there was an option to make it so the secondary pane opened the folder you clicked on the left by default. So basically, if you wanted to look through a bunch of folders fast, without leaving that main folder, you could just click and see the contents real fast.
EDIT: Months later they fixed that, and now I love it, but cannot get .lnk (shortcut link) files to show no matter what I do. Absolutely ruins it for my usecases. So frustratingly close.

Its slow, after first run its restarting itself and also need some seconds until it shows the elements.
Also if you are in an USB Drive, it blocks it that mean i cant eject it.
With that problems it will get obselete if windows realese their tabs system for Explorer

Drive for Desktop works for me. I haven't used the app as much as I'd like due to speed issues, though. In short, hopefully the developers can optimize this app pronto. Thanks for the review, mate.

I like Files but disappointed that Sync is not included in the Cloud Drives. I am unable to find a way to pass this comment back to the developer.

My advice to whom care if you enabled this app as a default app in any circumstances in you enter safe mode you won't able to use explore so don't enable it as a default
Its a WASTE app..I am on Windows 11 and I set this app as default but after Uninstalling this app, I am not able to open any files/ folders on my system tried Restarting but not working..Its showing error APPLICATION NOT FOUND. Please tell how to fix it and make my original File explorer a default one

Atleast by installing and Uninstalling its so simple tests..God bless developers.🤣 By the way I finally fixed my system after doing some registry edits and got saved..and now everything working just fine.

Looks like mostly bs to me. What wouldve been great is thumbnail icons that would play a snippet of moving content for video files when mouse hovers over it and or be able to play webp and gif anim directly in tve thumbnail when mouse hovering over it. It’s a frature A LOT of users have requested for win File Explorer doubt we will get to see it even in third party explorer though cause no one have implemented even though it has been higly requested for over a decade. Bet it’s extremely difficult to code for it.

This sucks, it's a bit buggy.
Sorry for the term. But it is what it is.
This app is highly overrated! Cosmetically it may be slightly better looking but functionalities its sucks, simply need a lot of improvement to it. There are a lot of flaws and faults with the app, in fact it has caused a lot of problems while running it on win11. The only way to cure the problem is by stopping using it and switching to the win11 explorer. It has caused all sorts of problems. It needs a serious improvement before you can use it properly.
