2022 BMW X3 X30i owner here. Just finished installing the hitch. In hindsight, I should have ordered Draw-tite 76226 instead of Curt 13387, even though Draw-tite is more expensive. Curt has a major design flaw, as you can see in the video starting from 7:48, you need to cut/grind an existing stud off the steel hanger and drill a hole for a replacement bolt (comes with the hitch), but trust me, it's 100x more difficult than what the video shows. It took me at least 3 hours to get it prepped, not to mention three or four drill bits wasted. Also as you may found on reviews from other websites, even though if you followed exactly what the video/instruction shows, your exhaust on the passenger side will be about 1/2" higher than the driver side (see video at 13:30) and is very noticeable. So I did exactly the same process mentioned above to the steel hanger on the passenger side, of course another replacement bolt was NOT included with the hitch so I have to source it myself, so that the exhausts look at even height. Granted, Curt's design might be stronger than Draw-Tite, but I would say it's an overkill and causes more trouble during installation. Also, just as other reviewer said, for 2022 X30i, don't bother removing the reflectors, there are no bolts behind them.
Hi Jack Chen. I’m also the 22 BMW X3 owner. I want to ask you if the kick to open the tailgate on your BMW is still working after you installed the hitch?

Thank you for this review. I have a 2022 and my hitch installation was flawless due to the help of your video. Thanks again!
Glad to help!
Great tutorial. Not sure I would undertake the install on my own.
You can always have a U-Haul hitch professional complete the install for you! Visit Uhaulhitches.com to find the closest one.
Just finished installing this hitch, the 2022 is easier, and doesn’t require you to remove the reflectors.
I guess I will never have a hitch on my car, to many original parts been removed and reinstalled no way I can do this with damaging 1/2 the bolts
Heindsight, I would have never purchase this vehicle one week ago. Shame on BMW for cutting corners and creating more cost for their customers.
Wondering if the kick sensor to open the tailgate is still working after you installed the hitch?
Does this hitch fit on the 2022 M40i version of the BMW X3? Same instructions?
Does the exhaust tip on one side hangs lower than the other size?
just finished the installation on my 2022 x3, to answer your question, I find out, yes.
