Good walkthrough! You might consider doing a car wash walkthrough. There are a number of things you need to do including taping down the front tow hook access panel to prevent it from being torn loose and potentially lost.

My dealership used a paperclip to attach the piece to the car, so if it falls off in the car wash, it will just hang there and won't be lost.

That hook on the right in the cargo area is for holding the folding floor cover open.

Very good video for my new X3. I don't understand widgets. Where do I set them up, and once set where do I find them? Also, Radio. What are the multiple ways of changing channels?
Great questions Penni. So the widgets are what are shown on the BMW Home Screen, if you press and hold for a few seconds on them, you'll bring up a customizations screen and should see smaller boxes that you can tap on to select from a whole list of widgets.
Multiple ways of changing the radio would be through voice command, track skipping on the center console, track skipping on the steering wheel, if it has gesture control there is a way to use your thumb and point it in the direction to the right or left, you can also press the scroll knob on the steering wheel and that should bring up the list of stations as well.

Apply carplay for that model year IS a subcription, but it should be a one time fee of around 300 dollars. You can purchase this from the connected drive store.

I just love my new 2023 X3. Never in my life did I have a luxury car like this. It’s beautiful and rides like a dream. I got it in the Brooklyn Gray with all leather interior. All black grill and wheels.

Question. I’ve looked this up and it’s very conflicting. BMW recommends premium gas. Is it REQUIRED or just recommended?
Hey Ginger! Thanks for watching the video and reaching out to me.
Premium gas is "Recommended" it's a little tricky; let me clear it up for you. On the inside of the fuel door, there is a little sticker that lists this, too, in the fine print.
89 is the ABSOLUTE Minimum. This is usually the middle choice / PLUS Gas.
91 is the RECOMMENDED, which also falls in the middle usually.
Anything above 91, say 93, is completely fine. Having a higher octane gas won't hurt the engine at all, and the benefit is that you may squeeze a little bit more power out of the engine by choosing it.
The choice is completely yours, 89-91 are fine, but if you prefer to have a bit more power, 93 is a good choice.
Please explain how double clicking the logo button on the remote key disengages the internal sensors so if you have a dog inside and they move around they won't turn on the alarm. I'm aware of this feature and would like to know all the thoughts related to it. Thank you so much!
That's correct. It's basically just that. There is a motion sensor within the vehicle, so if it detects movement yes the alarm will go off.
Anytime you leave a pet inside the vehicle, when you double click it, it will deactivate the alarm for just that time period and then re-engage so you will have to do it each time.

In the video you said it only has one trip computer. I don’t think that’s true. That screen only shows one at a time however. On my 2021 M340i w/Idrive 7 you have your current trip, trip since last filled with gas, since new, and one that you can reset manually. I absolutely LOVE how it has so many trip modes. I wish all manufacturers did that!
You're right. That's what I mean in the sense that you can only view one trip computer type at a time. Yes I love the "refueling one" !!

I'm quite sure it does, I've personally never walked out to go see it, but it would be dangerous not to have it on while the vehicle is being held.

Good question, I personally have not tried but, I know for the last generation BMW's it was easy but this new generation you may be better off going to the service department and getting it fixed.

Can you walk through how to use climate control? Seems like you can set temp, but in menu a/c there's a setting to adjust the air to cold, neutral or hot? Do you have to change it in the menu a/c to actually get cold air even if you have temp at 65 for example.
I did one on the new BMW system a couple weeks ago. It may look different compared to this one. The temperture dial you're seeing in you menu screen pertains to the middle row of vents. BMW lets you adjust the middle row of vents separately.
Does the X-3 have a Sleep Mode for vacation trips. I called BMW help after hours and they could not answer and referred me to Genius.
Manual did not mention a Sleep mode and I did not see a systems information under the Apps screen.

Thanks for the sub! There isn't a sleep mode per say but there is a DO NOT DISTURB mode.

You could also set your phone on do not disturb as well or the car mode function.

How about the seating?
We are prospective buyers (‘23 X3 xDrive30i)... My wife is on the shorter-side, and getting out of the car takes some effort due to the car’s height and the side bolsters on the seat. Do the seats move to a lower position when the car is turned off or when the door is opened to make it easier exiting? I noticed the steering wheel movement is manual, so I can’t see that moving out of the way. Thanks, great video!
The only way the seat can move positions is going to be when you're entering the vehicle. The way that this is possible is for the both of you to have two separate profiles on the two separate keys. When she unlocks the door with her key having her profile it should adjust to her settings.

I have a new BMW 220i Active tourer and have 2 problems I want to ask you about. Firstly my interor lighting menu pops up on its own sometimes. I can not figure out why. Secondly when Im listening to my music with android auto, suddenly the radio comes on with an information dialogue asking me if I want to turn off the radio information (my translation might not be accurate). I clıck turn off radio information and it goes back to android auto. Do you have any idea why this would happen?
Hey Hakan, those both sound like software glitches, don't believe the vehicle should be doing those. Best thing to do if i were you would be to take pictures or videos of what youre seeing and show it to a dealer. They should be able to do a software refresh to resolve that. I would recommend you have your driver profile setup before they do that since sometimes people can lose information.
Is there another way to activate the driving modes ie:Sport without pressing the button?
For this generation, I do not believe so. One thing worth trying is using the BMW voice command to do so.
That may be something that is only featured on the new drive 8 system.

Yes, try holding down the Volume knob to do a iDrive Refresh. You have to hold it down until the screen goes black (takes about 30 seconds or so) that usually fixes the issue.
I have a 2022 X3. Questions on climate control. How can I have it keep the setting to recirculation? I hit the button but it reverts back to fresh air after about 10 seconds. When the outside temperature is very cold, keeping the fresh air out until the engine heats up is very important.
Unfortunately you are not able to keep it re-circulation permanently. It becomes a safety hazard when doing it for a long period of time. For the most part leaving it in auto should alternate whether or not the vehicle needs outside or inside air. You could set the circulation to auto as well by going into the climate control menu settings, if you haven't already.
is there a way to install running boards on the 2022 x3
Great question. I personally being with BMW for 4 years have not seen it be a part that was added on. If you look on say SHOPBMWUSA.com. If there running boards are there for purchase, I would highly assume you would be able to get those on after the purchase.
You neglected to return to how the built in dash cam (I think?) included in the Parking Assist Pro package works. That package and the HUD are mandatory for me and I keep checking the BMW website configurator in the hope that they have returned as options on the X3 with the base engine.

Most likely not, BMW released this feature around the late 2021, 2022 model year, the feature is called live cockpit pro.

Those are going to be paddle shifters. They are used to switch gears like a standard gear transmission. Such as going from 1st gear to 2nd gear, etc.
Most of the time we don't use them but sport driving enthusiasts love them.

They are both pretty much exactly the same vehicles. The only thing that changed in 2022 was some minor aesthetics such as the display screen. The headlights in the tail lights. The rest of it should be about the same.

Yes it should do this by default but if not, you may have to go into CAR > SETTINGS > KEY BUTTON SETTINGS > Then there should be a setting there, set it to driver door.
I have a 2021 X3 M40i, how can I keep the High Beam Assist and fog lights on full time. Every time I get in the car, I have to hit my fog lights button and my High Beam Assist button. In my other vehicles, they are automatically on when I turn on my vehicle.
The fog lights are not able to turn on automatically, not sure why BMW has it designed that way. If you're having to press the auto highbeam button that may be the only way possible since there isn't a specific setting to control that aside from the button and keeping your headlights on auto.
Does the BMW X3 not beep if a car is near your as you're backing up "or" if you're about to change lanes in the path of another car?
It should make a beeping sound as you get VERY close to the car. If this is not working, I would go into the Park distance control menu and go into settings to make sure the sound is active. The vehicle will not make a sound if you are about to change into a vehicle, the only warning you would get is that the blind spot triangle in the side mirror will begin to flash.
How do I turn off the annoying speed warning chime in my 2022 X3?
It should be under settings, try going into CAR > SETTINGS > GENERAL SETTINGS, there should be an option for speed warning here somewhere.

Does the convenience package have the 3-D camera?
How do you activate the key card? We just got a 2024 x3
Once you have your driver profile setup, you would place the key card on the charging/tray flat. It should prompt you to activate the key card. If it doesn't it may already be on and active. You'd have to tap and hold on the door handle and place it where you activated to start the car.
Auto H stands for Auto Hold. Its main purpose is for stopping on hills. The car won't roll back when you take your foot off the brake.
Correct, that is one of the main reasons for it.
It’s also useful for driving in traffic, waiting in drive through lanes, etc. I have Auto Hold on at all times.
Not entirely true, it is especially useful in jams where you don't have to push the brake pedal, or touch (P) brake. The brake lights are or though.
My middle screen went out but the phone still plays thru the car play but I can’t turn on the heat or use any feature’s in the car can I get some help please
Seems to be a system issue, try doing a idrive reboot to see if that helps, you can do this by turning on the vehicle, have the engine running, and then hold down the radio volume knob for about 30 secs and let go when the screen goes black. If that does not work, I would bring it in to get it checked.

Yes. I do believe I have not came across one that didn't have it. Cool trick, you can tell the BMW voice command to change the ambient lighting too!

Hey Sandy, you’d have to get a aftermarket one. The wireless charger has to be made with the vehicle.
How do you access the spare tire ?
BMWs for the most part have run-flat tires which would mean the vast majority do not come with spare tires. If you had a spare tire it would be located in the trunk beneath the under compartment.

hi. why you have digital key card? does every 2023 x3 come with a key card?
I will not say that every X.3 I have been in has the digital key card but I would check your glove compartment because many times they are located in there when the vehicle is brand new.
Even if a BMW does have that Bmw only has that has a one year subscription and then you have to re-subscribe to it
You need the wireless charger to get the digital key.
@@davidalenick1246 digital key card can still work without the wireless charger. As long as it has the tray that reads nfc.

There are about 5-6 different colors to choose from, you can control the brightness for it, and at night it looks great.

My 2022 X3 has a spare tire. In order to get to the battery do I need to take the spare tire out to get to it?
Should not have to, the battery should be located in the front, at least the positive and negative ports are. Check out my 30+ Hidden Tips and Tricks video, it has it in there.
Last two questions how do you put the car in neutral if the car has no power? Can you open the back hatch if there is no power? Thanks and love your content.

Is M sport worth it over this trim?
If you like the look of it then sure. It does come with a more aesthetic look, sport bumpers and a m sport steering wheel. It already drives great and it'll also make the suspension 25% more stiff as well.
Would I personally get it, not really. Only because if I wanted to have a sporty vehicle, I'd rather opt in for a car / sedan, not so much an SAV.
What is backup assistant??
It is when the BMW can remember up to 160+ ft of forward movement and reverse it self completely without steering or pedal involvement.
In an example, say for example you park in a long complicated driveway. The BMW will remember those steps and then the next day when you press back up assistant, it'll reverse itself out remembering those steps all by itself!

Good walkthrough. Surprsing how that X3 was equipped with the Parking Asst Pro package. It's not available on the configurator. I'd rather have the HUD than the parking assist. They give HUD on their sedans, which sell lower numbers than their SUVs but delete them on their SUVs. I just don't get BMW's decontenting philosophy.
Yes the options can get a bit confusing. It has been very weird the last couple years because of part shortages!
Park assist pkg is finally available again as of late November 2022!

I have this vehicle and can't wait to get rid of it because of not having space for a spare tire. Run on flat tires not always work as they are supossed to depending on the damage suffered.
You can have a BMW with a spare but yes it has to come built with it from the factory, that would be your best bet. Run flats have their pros and cons, I've only had 1 flat in my 3-4 years of driving BMWs so wasn't too big of a deal to drive on it. Their is also free roadside assistance the first 4 years.
