Who among us Lars' fans here wants to do an 'Awesome' Drinking Challenge ??? Every time he says 'Awesome', we have to drink. FYI: There were 23 "Awesome's" in this video. Experienced drinkers only. Playing the 'Survival Russia 'Awesome' Drinking Game may/will be hazardous to your health/liver, etc. "Get out there, train and get it done" !
Hahhah, that's like playing the "Manowar drinking game." Any time Eric Adams sings the word "power", "metal", "kill" or "king" you take a drink. Back in the day as 19-year olds me and a friend tried playing the Manowar drinking game watching one of their shows. We were completely fucked by the end, I don't want to remember the hangover. Just don't listen to "Kings of Metal" with these rules without a life insurance and someone present to pump your stomach.
In Germany these kind of soups are called Eintopf (literally meaning "one pot"). Where this name comes from is clear, you just put all you have into one pot and voila, it´s done and yummy. I just love them, esp. when it is colder.
I like your comment about home gardens and supermarkets not selling too much vegetables during the summer. I live in Los Angeles and would starve without supermarkets because we have very small or no gardens in the backyard. The houses generally have small yards and very few neighbors plant vegetables. I have a number of citrus trees and grow Japanese vegetables but, not enough to feed the family.
Its also called dill here in scotland, great for pressing salmon like gravlax. The soup looked great, just asking for some rye bread to soak it up. Eating some dirt is fine with me, first potatoes lifted today, just one plant which was wilting, got a pound of nice clean spuds, no peeling or cleaning required, the skin is where most of the nutrients are found they say. Around 30c here today, thats not normal, no rain either for a long time, normally watering the garden is not necessary, but is a daily job this summer...Hey ho , thats summer for you.....Lets see what winter brings? Might be payback time?
Almost felt the aroma of soup and fire. Finally have the little vacation, that could be spent on real camping. Too tired from seas and barbeques in local dendro-park. Thanks for emotions, Lars. You give life.
Dill is Dill here in the uk Lars my Grandpa used to grow awesome Dill in his garden along with nearly every other vegetable he and Grandma ate 🙂Awesome video
That moment your body reacts to the tasty home-made soup before you can speak the words, says it all! Great job Lars. Today, for so many people, supermarkets and shopping malls have robbed us of some many life skills. That is a great cooking pot for family / team meal preparation. Greetings to all in the SR team from Greg in Thailand
Yes, it is 'dill' in English. Dill is also great with potatoes and sour cream and red beets. We call 'green onions' scallions as well as 'green onions.' Other onions 'bulb' in the longer days of summer, swelling to a wonderful roundness. So, how about some 'Melboller?' Some type of Danish dumpling seems like it would elevate this dish into a cold weather treasure!
Campfire cooking videos in general are nice, Survival Russia campfire cooking = even better! A little bit of dirt in the soup never hurt anyone, human stomach acid can melt razor blades. This I learned back in the day from a sideshow freak who swallowed them as a stage act. That looks like some tasty soup, nature surroundings make everything taste better anyway. It was spectacularly hot(and dry) here as well, the groundwater levels are lower than usual. Watch out for the bears, wouldn't want a 300kg hairball ransacking anywhere near the camp. Thanks for the video, hope you've had a great week Lars!
Dill is the correct name for this herb in English, Lars. However, it's one of those tastes that I do not care for. I do cook with many herbs, but Dill is not one of them. I began my working life 60 years ago as a trainee cook where I learned that there was more to cooking than just the things that I liked...Pigmeat...lovely!! Take care...
G'day Lars, Here in Tasmania, right now, it's breakfast, however, I want to have 'Lar's Siberian Soup' for breakfast! Looks delicious! Yes, that looks like what we call Dill too. And we call those green onions 'Spring Onlons' too. I think our American brothers call them scallions. I think that Russian stock pot is awesome. I'll see if I can find one somewhere. Thanks, Lars, Cheers, BH.
Great looking soup Lars. I agree with you about the heat and eating. I don’t know how you can eat hot soup at all in 30+ degree heat at all though. It makes me sweat just thinking about it. Great table. It reminds me of a pawn. 15 more and you have half a chess set : ) Using a Swiss Army knife to cook a meal in the forest is the epitome of awesome. I don’t like wishing my time away but I’m looking forward to seeing this camp in winter. I love the forest in the winter. Take care.
Very skilled chef like prep of your vegetables. Had a chuckle about the flavour 'getting lost'. That was fun, thanks Lars. Im going to try the awesome soup.
I looove Dill! And the Victorinox. Mine is called Rucksack. The Bundeswehr uses a similar Version. Far more important then a big ass fighting knife out in the field!
Soup is so customizable. More potatoes and less onions for me, but I really like your cooking videos. I definitely see the benefit of an oval pot for packing!
I really like the pot hanging system you use Lars, I made one last winter for my winter camp and used it quite a number of times. It worked great in the deep snow. Your stew / soup looked really tasty as well as simple to make. I'll give it a try this hunting season. All the best to you my friend.
Lars a bit of dirt never done anyone any harm. The 10 second rule- if something falls on the ground, as long as you pick it up within 10 seconds then it’s good to go 👍
I made your soup tonight. I made a few substitutions like adding BBQ pork and some carrots. But used lots of dill(as we call it in Canada as well). I grew up on Borscht a lot of the time, and this is similar. I don't miss the beats.
Dill is the same in america, it is used a lot in pickling and with lamb. I never thought about using it in a soup I will have to give it a try. As for the green onions it depends on where you are in america. I live in the south and I grew up calling them green onions, but I lived up north and heard a lot of people call them spring onions. Either way works. The soup looks really tasty I am going to have to give it a try when I order my pig meat from Varusteleka since I can't seem to find anything like that here.
That soup has to be good with the stuff in it. And as an added bonus the garlic will keep the vampires away. I can see where that oval pot is better than around pot, surprised they all aren't that shape.
Thanks my friend, that is an amazing oval pot. Your Victorinox knife is super sharp, it was just gliding through those potatoes. Have a nice night Lars, Cheers!
Lars great video. So dry here I would be afraid to have a fire of any size at my tent location let alone take the quad out. Dill is awesome and we grow it for pickling of course here as well as winter garlic. days are getting shorter which means fall hunting and winter will soon be here and back into the woods for this guy. You have a super weekend coming up Lars, you and the family. Cheers Fred
Awesome video do you ever use beef or chicken in your soup just wondering, thanks for making these videos I know a lot of work goes into them, editing and posting takes a lot of time we all appreciate the effort
That is a boiler. The round ends are because this is set up your wood cook stove with the top plates off and the fire directly to the bottom of the boiler. These were used to boil your laundry, boil sap, render lard. Mostly laundry though. Normally found made of copper. Never use the laundry boiler to boil your sap, though. :)
Dill! In Finish it's called: "Tilli" The ingredients look awesome! Especially the garlic! I love garlic and i red a fact about it somewhere, apparently garlic fends off tics and mosquitos. If consumed the day before. Well i believe that is true.. .because garlic fends off everyone the next day. :D Oh yeah. And it's 31 degrees celsius in the shadow at the moment . Barely unbareable!
Today i used Garlic as a garnish, made an aluminium dumpling of a fresh garlic, dill, black pepper, oil and fresh summer onions cooked them about 12 minutes on a high seting. It was awesome on steaks i prepared earlier. Just gotta mention it was heavenly with a decent lager beer. ;) (red 3 from Lidl) ;) (All Finns will know this)
Dill as an ingredient is underrated. I especially love dill and fish, best in a nice soup! I also would give you the tip to use red lentils for soups like this. They cook quickly, no soaking, taste great, make a soup or something less "runny" and gives a nice small boost for plant-based protein.
That looks tasty! Shashkin is an awesome channel. And Victorinox knives are great for food prep and other camp duties. I really like that oval pot. Take care, see you again soon, I hope.

Fresh dill already? How about a garden tour?
Meals cooked over a fire are always best. Even better the fresher the ingredients.
True story buddy.
yeah. even rice cooked on fire is so good...
You’re right about the hard part-especially when you’re hungry! I hate burning my tongue and roof of my mouth.

4 years later and got my fix of Lars in the outdoors. 👍🐷
I like Havarti cheese that has dill in it. I love my Victorinox knives. Soup with potatoes and onions, awesome!
Good old Havarti :)
And once again my 5 year old daughter....."Survival Russia!" She yells it loudly. Have a good day Lars.
Love your cooking videos. Thanks.
That looks like a hearty soup. I bet it tastes even better when eaten outdoors.

This could have been titled “return of pig meat”. Nice to see you putting that table to use. 👍👍
Thanks for another video Lars.
Very skilled chef like prep of your vegetables. Had a chuckle about the flavour 'getting lost'. That was fun, thanks Lars. Im going to try the awesome soup.
I like Stone Soup. Very delicious and great for camping. I learned about Stone Soup from watching the old "Land of the Lost" tv series.
I looove Dill! And the Victorinox. Mine is called Rucksack. The Bundeswehr uses a similar Version. Far more important then a big ass fighting knife out in the field!
Awesome video Lars!! Thanks for taking us along:)
Hi Lars hope your managing the hot weather.
looks great Lars... Enjoy...
We call them green onions here in the mid western United States also. Soup looked "souper" awesome also, God bless.
That soup looks really good Lars!! Now I'm hungry.. lol
Pigmeat Super Soup made by Lars on the campfire, all is good!
Soup is so customizable. More potatoes and less onions for me, but I really like your cooking videos. I definitely see the benefit of an oval pot for packing!

I love dill.
Dill is Dill is Engish. In Russian it sounds something like 'ukrop', which you certainly know :) Amazing video. I loved it!!
Glad to see you in the forest Lars. Food looked great. Watched your video while I was cooking too.. Awesome...
That soup looks awesome!
Use the back of the knife for putting the stuff into the container, little cooks trick to keep the knife sharp ;)
Makes sense :)
It's really funky when you say "Supersuper awesome" and "Blah blah blah blah blah blah" Lars . Haha

Just look up "Kharcho" soup.
Survival Russia
I found it!!
It looks great. I'll be making it.
Thanks.
The supermarkets got their way in some areas here in the USA. In some places, it is actually a crime to have a back-yard garden.

Awesome.....
Incredible recipe
I put green onions in most everything....fantastic taste. I'm with you....just dump it all in. I have never seen canned pork. Looks really, really good.....the other white meat.
There is already a law project in the pipeline on taxing households and domestic gardens. They are actually one step ahead on that matter.
Lars you realy need to discover the wonders of a pressure cooker for survival the fuel saved by one is remarkable ! your soup would have cooked in 5 min.s and the time it takes to cool
Dang it!! No red bell notification......AGAIN!
Of course we like watching you make good grub on the camp fire!! It is near luch time here now, and thanks to you, I'm drooling now!
Hey, Lars, I ordered a 14 horse power engine yesterday to make my own "mini crawler" Could you please show the tracks, drive shaft, and clutch a little better on yours? I think mine will have just one track, but I haven't decided yet. Are two tracks better or worse in snow?
PIG MEAT!! Nothing better! That sure looks good! I guess you are not Muslim! Haw!!!
Well done :) I will try and show the tracks and other features as requested ASAP, but until then, here's a link to my Crawler with lots of pics. Let me know if you need some other details:koira.pro/motobuksirovshchiki/vsesezonnye-motobuksirovshchiki/vsesezonnyy-motobuksirovshchik-koira-t/ What's best for snow? It depends on how deep it is. Great! Thank you Lars! Mine will be somewhat different, but seeing your video gave me a few more ideas!
I just looked at the ling you sent. That pretty much shows what I needed. THANK YOU!
Good to hear you included cooking those ukrops in the soup...you sliced them nicely
Great video as always Lars!
Looks like good soup!
You seem to be having a great time! I am less fortunate today, one of my film cameras has jammed and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Anywho, it's always nice to have some homemade soup, especially with homegrown ingredients.
Yeeeeeah, a cooking video again👍👍👍😍
Soup looked awsome my friend!❤
Greetings, GR🤘
Great video mate i enjoyed the video thoroughly. Go on mate.
