Wanted to mention that part of the problem with the educational system might be the parents. They don't read with their children, play games, or help to educate them at all. Yes, the curriculum does need to be improved too.
You aren't old enough but in 1973 we had an incredible snowstorm. Charleston was shut down for over a week because there weren't any snow plows to dig everyone out. It was amazingly beautiful.
Yeah back in the 2010s we used to get snow pretty much every year. It's global warming to blame, as the temperature is now usually a few Fahrenheit too warm.
Great Video! Here in Southwest Florida it is Jan 3rd and the humidity is terrible. This is the first year out of 6 that we have lived here that it's taking forever for our dry season to set in. Surprising how many people are talking about moving back North. It's not fun having 9 months of humidity! I will say you are right about how bad SC roads are. Here in Southwest Florida the roads are fantastic.
For real! So HUMID in Cape Coral/ Ft Myers . I haven’t worn a jacket at all this winter . After 19 years here , I think I can handle SC humidity . Maybe retiring there…
Wow, so harsh! I have to agree with the Myrtle Beach comment - I have lived there for 7 years and it is only gotten worse as far as crime, looking worn down and the growth of building EVERYWHERE is insane!!!!!!! The biggest issue for our family was learning to live with ALL the tourists when you want to go out - instead of packing up the beach gear you REALLY MUST pack your patience to live there. The roads it seems to be more so on secondary roads vs major Hwys that need help. Healthcare being an issue is one reason the taxes are lower which is good considering I came from a state that paid for healthcare and the taxes well.....(that's one of the reasons I now call SC home) There are awesome heath care facilities here in SC; those 2 need to be clarified better- as for the health of those living here vs anywhere it's an individuals goal/right to be or not to be healthy. We LOVE SC and have explored most of the state. Especially the Upstate areas, so beautiful. As for the snow, it is beautiful but now days we are running out of toilet paper if someone sneezes do we really need to scream snow coming and watch stores empty out? Lol Let's count our blessings and be grateful we have many wonderful things here in SC - besides if you could only come up with 5-6 things in this video it is still an awesome place to hang your hat.
Completely agree! Most of the stuff on the channel is super positive about SC, so we just wanted to highlight what isn’t as good. But, if these are the worst things we could come up with… it’s not that bad!
I fell ya about the tourist industry. It's a trade off in any town that counts tourism as an industry. There's way more job opportunities, but you have to put up with the extra visitors. I'm pretty sure crime is going up everywhere with 2 Million unvetted immigrants invading.
I left the Charleston area in 1982 for Califmexifornistan. I did work for the Mt. P fire department but the Air Force flying career was a better deal. .. I grew up on the IOP and Mt. P.....Im a descendant of Marion, Dwight and Ravenel....I go back for vacation visits to see remaining family members and friends. Many died as they wouldnt stop drinking, eating crap and acidic conditions contributed to cancer, diabetes, vascular diseases....
The rankings for overall humidity are technically correct. What you really want to look at for what the humidity actually feels like in terms of being uncomfortable is the dew point.
With South Carolina in the winter. It'll get down to 20F and be completely dry. But when there is a chance for snow, it'll hover around 35-40F, making it "freezing rain," at worst. Also we got snow pretty much every year during the 2010s. Global warming is to blame for our lack of snow in recent years. At least in Greenville, SC.
Good vid. Thanks for sharing. We are moving to Fort Mill this weekend. I can appreciate where you are coming from on this and it wouldn't have swayed us one way or the other but I think what you mentioned we have come across in our research over the years. Roads...our roads here in NJ are like driving on the moon. Crater after crater. Humidity...I'll take it knowing it's 2 months out of the year for nice weather year round. Health...it's up to us to take care of ourselves. Myrtle Beach...I've been to that area and I have never gone to the main strip. I enjoy the areas surrounding it and I'd be angry if tourists were littering too. I have no patience for that. Snow...I've had enough but get that it's special down there. Education....I think we are trending down up here and you are on the upswing. Also, I just subscribed. Looking forward to your videos!
Being from NJ and living at the Jersey Shore we have the same complaint that you have about the beaches. The tourists are filthy (mostly from NY historically). I just don't get how people can be that way.
Totally agree with the point regarding roads. Driving on 85 from NC to SC, you really feel the difference. I find I tense up and get sensation akin to claustrophobia. Hopefully that will change when they finish the road work there… How long that construction has been going on? BTW… road quality transition feels quite similar driving from CT to NY.
SC is the very best state that I have ever lived in. Humidity, Hah! try Florida, South Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, especially near the lakes. Roads: bigger Hah! How about the rust belt? Only two seasons, Winter and road repair (construction) No snow? Great. Try getting anywhere with 2-3 feet of snow often. Etc, Ect. Really happy to be here.
Ok, you might win that one with south FL humidity 😆 Greenville is such a great place, it’s definitely growing which also helps improve the suburbs around Greenville.
Breaks my heart to hear that segment on Myrtle Beach. Where do you recommend for people who want a great, fun beach vacation but without the negatives you mentioned for Myrtle Beach? Something near Charleston?
Its humid in summer in most states come down to Miami or worst live in Orlando Florida its very humid and very nice in winter time what planet u from??
If you think SC roads are bad try living in Upstate NewYork Rochester Buffalo & surrounding areas roads are atrocious! 2 of our adult children live in SC & soon my husband & I are moving there. I will miss the changing seasons tho.
I agree with the myrtle beach speech….. we were very disappointed with that beach. Toooooooo much dirty environment. Old hotels that are about to collapse.
Good video. I agree with your list. I am a native born South Carolinian from Anderson. Yes, we have our problems, but that said I still love it here. Except from June to August! Yep, it is awful then. And I agree with you; I hate Myrtle Beach as well.
SC summers is a lot like being inside of a washing machine with the lid down. It's hot, wet, & sticky! There's also a fairly good chance that, all things considered, you might stumble & fall!
I drive up 95 from North FL (our humidity is worse) to Charleston to visit mom and sister and roads are great until you get to SC so I concur. GA wins for roads - their section of 95 is fabulous except for being lined with troopers at all times.
I can only speak for myself but I landed a job this month and moving this weekend. For me, it will be a lateral move salary-wise but in the end still an increase based on other factors from how life is up here in NJ. Rent is a wash but more square footage. Gas is about 40 cents cheaper. It all adds up. The biggest challenge, and maybe it's changed now that I've found employment, is that having a local address is a big factor. Somehow I lucked out and they rolled the dice on me based on my background and not where I was living. Best of luck!
Good video but not sure how the diet and exercise habits of the current population are relevant to people considering a move there, unless they're doctors looking for an abundance of potential patients. For instance, I am moving to SC soon. I eat very healthy and exercise often. When evaluating whether to move to SC, I never once thought to myself "This place seems great. But first let me check and see if everyone else there follows similar diet and exercise habits as myself." In other words, the poor health/lifestyle habits of current residents doesn't affect my health or lifestyle.
I definitely get that. But, for some people a culture that aligns with their lifestyle is important. Finding community that values health and wellness is absolutely doable here, but it’s not the prevailing culture.
@@livinginsouthcarolina That definitely makes sense. At least in the Greenville area where I'm moving, it looks like there are an abundance of trails, gyms, and other active outdoor options and things to do that I would consider healthy. And a decent selection of healthy food or grocery options. Might not reflect the majority of the state's lifestyle and preferences, but I think (or hope) that in the more populous/developed areas (like around Greenville) people can easily continue or begin such a lifestyle due to the availability of these options, if they want. That's how it looks to me anyway. Hope I'm not wrong since that's exactly what I'm planning to do after I move there lol.
It is important to people like me. Who live a healthy life. In the 9 mo ths here it has only gotten harder for me to find food. I have a lot of allergies on top ofjust wanting to be healthy. My cost of living doubled moving here. One reason I have to order all .y food from back home in GA.
I don't think Myrtle Beach is that bad. It is not Myrtle Beach is the tourist that bring the drama. I know a lot of seniors go to Myrtle Beach and they stay there they don't have no problem. The roads are getting a little bit better just a little bit.
everything is fine except for humidity racism (usually just Confederate Collins that are hard to ignore) educational system (someone in my class deadass said "isn't that the place where all the terrorists come from?" When we learned about Afghanistan)
We have been here for about a year in a half from Michigan, have to agree on the humidity in the summer, no snow or hardly snow is what we like we had our share , the roads are bad but I believe Michigan's are worse
WAAAAAAY better than new jersey... nice try on trying to keep too many people from coming down there and I get that... BUT WE COMING DOWN THERE LIKE A MOFO ANYWAY
Hey jersey, I'm from philly moved to south carolina 8 months ago, it's beautiful here but he did not lie, btw you will need a few extra hundred a month just for gas, 20 mins here is not like back home, wish you well anyhow.
Oh wow! You just said something bad about one if my favorite places in the state. I love Myrtle Beach! And besides, I'm going this summer with my family and you can't stop me from doing so!
ya, he has an untraveled view. It's awesome in SC. Has a lot to offer. Even the humidity is not bad. I moved 2800 miles to be here and don't regret a thing. My life improved and ppl are way better. Then my whole family followed me here. What a trip! The only thing I don't like here so far is the churches. They are either legalistic or mega church. That's been the only disappoiinting thing for me...otherwise the quality of life here is better, safer.
He forgot the absolute worst thing about South Carolina, the damn yankees that cpme down to constantly tell us "thats not the way we did it where Im from!" Its the damn yankees that ruined Myrtle Beach! Right after that damn movie came out! Remember, I95 will carry you right back where you came from! I'm so tired of hearing, " but you didn't have anything before we came!"
Wanted to mention that part of the problem with the educational system might be the parents. They don't read with their children, play games, or help to educate them at all. Yes, the curriculum does need to be improved too.
Education definitely starts at home!
You aren't old enough but in 1973 we had an incredible snowstorm. Charleston was shut down for over a week because there weren't any snow plows to dig everyone out. It was amazingly beautiful.
Yep, once in 50 years LOL.
Yeah back in the 2010s we used to get snow pretty much every year. It's global warming to blame, as the temperature is now usually a few Fahrenheit too warm.

Just bought house in SC Im happy there is no snow I am sick of snow

Lol, I’m glad you love our state as much as I do! Thanks for the comment!
Humidity? Come to south Florida. Anyways I travel to the Greenville area twice a year. Nice but growing to fast.
Ok, you might win that one with south FL humidity 😆 Greenville is such a great place, it’s definitely growing which also helps improve the suburbs around Greenville.
Could you please tell us the situatuion with mosquitos in the state, esp upstate? Ive heard its difficult to deal with.
I’m curious on this as well. Also wondering how bad the ticks can be!
Breaks my heart to hear that segment on Myrtle Beach. Where do you recommend for people who want a great, fun beach vacation but without the negatives you mentioned for Myrtle Beach? Something near Charleston?
My favorite beach in the state is Folly. Just south of Charleston!
Its humid in summer in most states come down to Miami or worst live in Orlando Florida its very humid and very nice in winter time what planet u from??
We have humidity? I thought it was only the sun doing sun things.
I just moved to Myrtle beach for work and hate it too. I plan to ask for a transfer once I can.
Move to Charleston its beautiful. Mrytle Brach isn't like it use to be when I was a kid too commercialized.
If you think SC roads are bad try living in Upstate NewYork Rochester Buffalo & surrounding areas roads are atrocious! 2 of our adult children live in SC & soon my husband & I are moving there. I will miss the changing seasons tho.
Lived in SC all my life except for college and Navy. Have to agree with your list but still a proud Sand Lapper.
South Carolina has “Dirty Myrtle” but Maryland has “Ocean Shitty”. Best to stay away from both.
I agree with the myrtle beach speech….. we were very disappointed with that beach. Toooooooo much dirty environment. Old hotels that are about to collapse.
Myrtle is definitely not my favorite lol. Especially when South Carolina has so many other beaches that are great!
I spent a month in SC near MB. I was actually in North MB. MB wasn't impressive, it was yucky but I loved where we stayed in nmb.
I hear a lot of people giving thumbs down for MB, but what are your takes on the Market Common area?
Good video. I agree with your list. I am a native born South Carolinian from Anderson. Yes, we have our problems, but that said I still love it here. Except from June to August! Yep, it is awful then. And I agree with you; I hate Myrtle Beach as well.

I live in Columbia and it was 107 degrees with humidity. Me and my sister were bike riding and it felt like I was inside a mouth
I was not expecting “inside a mouth” 😂 this week has been crazy hot. And it’s only Tuesday!
It’s great humidity I’m from South Carolina I live around Charleston
How is the job scene. I’m from California and visited Greenville and thought it was awesome but is there plenty of work ?
Hey Mario! We have an awesome job market here in the Upstate of SC!
Jobs pay crap in SC, that's the only reason we haven't moved there yet.
I can only speak for myself but I landed a job this month and moving this weekend. Yes, there are jobs. I moved from Socal.
retiring.. moving to the Piedmont
…south Carolina doesn’t seem to line up well financially for solar subsidies…

@livinginsouthcarolina this. I am struggling to find people who do thing out doors and don't go to bars to get drunk every week.
I have to say that in my experience thus far the #1 worst feature of both of the Carolinas is the humidity. The worst! ❤️
South carolina is the reason i love winter
Its 100 degrees in the summer
That's it? Sounds like a dream compared to the rest of the country. wow
Upstate is nice. Beaufort is nice. Myrtle beach is a dump
This these are the worst things I’m moving there tomorrow
All true. I have seen traffic triple in greenville,sc and roads have not kept up. Greenville has seen too much growth, too fast. Please go elsewhere.
SC is wonderful place to live bc I love my home!🥰❤
I find it funny that these people say they moving here cause they love it and when they get here it don’t take long for them to feel different m.😂
The legal system here is 🗑️
I don't think Myrtle Beach is that bad. It is not Myrtle Beach is the tourist that bring the drama. I know a lot of seniors go to Myrtle Beach and they stay there they don't have no problem. The roads are getting a little bit better just a little bit.

How come no one talks about the 7 to 11 nuclear power plants in the state. Isn’t it bad for health? Specially the waste management nuclear sites?
Nuclear is actually some of the cleanest energy we can produce.
We have been here for about a year in a half from Michigan, have to agree on the humidity in the summer, no snow or hardly snow is what we like we had our share , the roads are bad but I believe Michigan's are worse
Are you kidding? I moved to Columbia in October. It snowed 3 times.
Can't wait to get there. It's gonna be great! Living in Michigan sucks!
No yankees allowed🤣
WAAAAAAY better than new jersey... nice try on trying to keep too many people from coming down there and I get that... BUT WE COMING DOWN THERE LIKE A MOFO ANYWAY
Hellz yeah buddy!!!!! MAGA transplants...🇺🇸
I was born here and am not old enough to mive out so im stuck here

Oh wow! You just said something bad about one if my favorite places in the state. I love Myrtle Beach! And besides, I'm going this summer with my family and you can't stop me from doing so!
I’m glad someone likes Myrtle Beach! 😂 I do enjoy some of the beaches around Myrtle… but the main drag is my least favorite.
Very little snow is a good thing
Yes the summers are horrible
I can’t wait to move in a month to SC. From Massachusetts. Bring on the sunshine 🌞
I'm from Mass. and I am hoping to move to SC too.
My name is Bill I drink 🍺
Most likely moving there in a few years. I’m very excited because I love in Canada and it’s freezing
Damn I’m from PA and it should be higher lol
Man I must really be a wussssh as I hate the Palmetto bugs the most.
Where is he? Is this a Pocast?
This is a joke.. right. I like in NY. Humid summers. Roads horrible. Shootings 456 in nyc. I will be retiring to SC in 2022.🙂
Lol, these are the worst things I could think of! If you need help with relocating, let us know!

Blue voting is not welcome in SC. If you’re red or independent come on down. Blue destroy everything they touch.
Where else have you lived? Try roads in California , Texas and New Jersey.

I looked it up South Carolina’s number eight hottest states that is the biggest lie we are in the top five
Bad Roads? Obviously you haven't been to the North East!
You lost me when you said you didn’t like Myrtle
Worst beach in the state
Humidity is just as bad or worse in most of the US. You aren't special.
My mom says I’m special.
My name is Bill I drink beer 🍺

No South Carolina is good
We really think so too!! Thanks for watching 😎 We also know it’s not for everyone, so these kind of topics can be helpful for some.
