Only if they bring their failed ideologies with them.

Most of the people that moved here are the Russians and Ukrainians from California to Oregon and Washington. Those are the ones you have to look out for. They are greedy and all they care about is themselves

Great, accurate video. As a native South Carolinian and public educator for 29 years, there's a specific reason our school ranking scores are so low. First, our standardized test is the second most difficult test in the nation. Legislation wanted a very rigorous assessment, and they succeeded. Second, SC public schools test EVERY child, much to the disagreement of all teachers. We test special education students and non-English speakers with the same rigorous test as our gifted and talented students. Teachers have protested and appealed for years to no avail. Please consider these factors when judging the SC public school system.

Agreed!!! I LOVE South Carolina; we moved here from Texas…it’s beautiful here- best of both worlds; the beach and mountains are all within a days drive :). Would love it if we had some snow, but…I’m ok without it

I don't like your conservative values. It's not for me. You don't have public transportation. I don't drive. That's basically fascist You don't have public transportation. Who wants to live in a place like that. South Carolina sounds like a horrible place. I was there I did not like it. The only thing was the weather. Thank you Tiaza! I also love the place of my birth and the conservative values engrained here. You must not have been here in Dec. 1989. Hurricane Hugo (cat 5) hit with the eye over Charleston (where I lived at the time), and devastated the coast. However, God sent us a nice present of 8" of snow on Christmas day (Goole it). Our snowman was the best in the neighborhood, and it also kept the beer cold. Sorry you missed it.
Love South Carolina and glad we moved here from Maryland. A few other negatives, but still the pluses far outpace the negatives.
1. Sales tax very expensive (around 9--10%) and most everything is taxed. South Carolina also has an annual personal property tax for vehicles.
2. Infrastructure in metropolitan areas not staying pace with population growth. Some areas looking more and more like traffic problems elsewhere.
3. Housing has become very expensive----especially along the coastal areas.
4. Insurance has become much more expensive-----especially HOs along the coast.
5. If you are a property owner but not a full time resident, real estate taxes are significantly more expensiive----like 3--4 times more than residents' taxes.
But as mentioned above, it is still a great state to live in on balance!
sc sales tax is only 6%, and we do not pay any tax on grocery purchases, only on food ready to eat
@@shawngroh1663 The state rate is 6% but you are ignoring the local jurisdiction add on. In Charleston county the effective rate is over 9% after this is considered. I stand by my statement.
I'm thinking of relocating to the Greenville area from NJ. In all honesty, these issues personally don't deter my decision at all. My property taxes in NJ are $15k/year and car and home insurance together are another $4k.
And the infrastructure hasn't kept pace most likely because everyone from the North came down in droves in a matter of 5 years!
@@zline-sp2fs Greenville/Spartanburg (upstate) is a fast growing very popular part of SC. Road infrastructure, like some other areas, major issue due to population growth. But you won't miss those NJ winters------although it does get an occasional taste of cold weather. Good luck!
Winter in SC:
It'll get down to 20F and be completely dry.
But when there's a chance for snow, it'll hover around 35F-40F.
And we haven't gotten snow for 3 years because of global warming.
We live on a beautiful Lake on the border of South Carolina and North Carolina. You can spray for mosquitoes. We are a couple of hours from the beach and mountains in both states. Love it!!
Where is that? I am looking at moving to NC or SC but love the mountains so I’m torn between Asheville or Charleston
I live in Greenville and the mosquitoes devour me.Only solution is to cover myself in deet.Then I have to scrub myself twice in the shower to get it off. Even then, I smell deet when I go to bed. My house has a deck, but I have no chairs on it because of mosquitoes.

Good video. You just needed to stress the job market down here. Blue-collar jobs pay nothing. There are very few corporate jobs in the state. I also believe you needed to stress the high poverty as well as the high crime rate.
The plants in the Upstate average between $20-$30 an hour for blue collar workers. That’s not exactly nothing.
Poverty and Crime vary greatly across the state and can’t be generalized on a state level.
Crime is high in the cities like Greenville, Anderson Spartanburg, ......out in the rural areas the fentanyl coming in from south of the border is beginning to cause a problem.
Jobs over all have never paid a lot compared to the rest of the country. You learn to adjust your wants or move somewhere else.
I don't work government subsidies. I would never work a blue collar job unless they pay me $200 an hour minimum. To work in a factory. Or f*** that s*** I'm no slave not going to do it. You do it. South Carolina is a horrible state the people are horrible. There's no transportation no buses that's backwards Nazi style government for you.

Hey Bob, you forgot to tell them about the no-see-ems down at the coast. As in the huge set of pointed teeth attached to a body that is nearly invisible and a bite thet feels like you were hit by a truck, a truck with pointed teeth. Also, people are actually polite. If, as a recent locatee, you say something like "That's not how we do it in (pick a northern state)", the response is probably going to be something like "Well, bless your heart". Also, you did not mention our rain showers, as in the kind Noah experienced. And, you forgot to mention Mercedes Benz in North Charleston (actually a good thing). But most importantly, you did not tell them about Carolina Gold, as in Bessinger's B-B-Q sauce. If you don't like mustard, stay away.
Ah, Hilton Head: the Redneck Riviera. The humidity NEVER GOES AWAY, and the closer to the water, the closer to the three-inch cockroaches.
You forgot to mention access to mediocre healthcare.
Cockroaches are amazing creatures.
I'll just stay in Washington State. Little heat and humidity. Probably even less rain then SC. No mosquitos. A job anywhere you want to work. No state income tax.

I moved from Western New York "Buffalo" when I was around 9 yrs old. My parents came here for "better" opportunities. As a grown man now in his early 30s that has been between the two states and others my entire life i can tell you there is still no place like home anf like WNY.
I understand the reason many left WNY especially in the early 90s, crime.job market. Weather. But i can tell you the BUF is certainly making a come back.
As for South Carolina , it is a great and beautiful place to live for some..but not for me.
This is just my opinion based off MY experience and is not intended to start a war lol.
1. South carolina isnt just hot and humid it is unbearingly hot and humid, this year it has been hitting the upper 80s and 90s by 10am. If you are a person with any type of breathing problems or a person that loves outside activities...it will be a problem.
2. Getting anywhere worth seeing will take you atleast 30-40 mins. I live just south of Charlotte and traffic on 77 is absolutely horrendous and 485 isnt much better. And yes we seriously have some of the worst drivers and road ways in the country especially when you enter the county of any area.
Public transportation is non existent.
3. South carolina lacks the sense of pride or community that many other places seem to have. Yes the people are friendly for the most part but dorsnt feel very neighborly. It also doesnt have the same sense of culture most of your restaurants and stores will be chain industries that are scattered everywhere in this country but does not have many mom and pop or privately owned type places.
4. It is NOT necessarily CHEAPER
Any activities even something like bowling can be very expensive as there arent many competitors or other options of entertainment around.
Very very few free concerts, festivals, parades or community events happening.. atleast where i am.
Sure it is cheaper than say NYC or socal
But nationwide not that much of a difference and it gets made up for in property taxes and tourism or entertainment.
5. Overall it is still a very conservative and religious state, that is slowly changing with the younger crowd albeit slowly, for some that may feel isolating.
6. The economy seems to always be growing but poverty is still rampant in many areas of the state and most of the small "townships or cities" have very little opportunities for work, entertainment, education and walkability forcing many to make long commutes to places like Charlotte NC.
7. There is no such thing as "15 minute" cities everything is very spaced out and at the same time congested.
8. The FOOD. one of the things most out of towners immediately notice and or miss is the their food from their respective origin state. Again most places are going to be chains. We do have BBQ if mustard or ketchup is your thing.
9. There are 3 seasons. Hot, Hotter, and cold and wet. Unless perhaps you live in NC near Ashville then maybe you will notice the seasonal changes a bit more.
10. The education system although is getting better, is still very much behind as are most things in this state. There are however some decent universities.
11. This is not at all a GREEN state, cannabis is still very much illegal and you will face jail time for having it. There is no real prospect of that changing anytime soon 10-15 years..maybe.
It is also not a very garden friendly state given the red clay "dirt" so planting and growing things will prove to be a challenge. and again you probably wouldnt want to anyways due to the scorching heat.
12. South Carolina is a beautiful state with gorgeous coastal areas and some of the best sunsets, Charlotte in my opinion has one of the most beautiful skylines for a midsized city. I have lived in Colorado, TX, Louisiana, florida, and WNY as well and for me..SC has been my least favorite but thats just me. I have family that moved here and they absolutely love it. It is what you make of it like anywhere but for me those would be my biggest deterrents.
Nice vid, another negative is that there seems to be little lake houses compared to the northeast. Lake jocassee looks nice but it’s too pricy and no lots

Moving to the Greenville/Spartanburg from Atlanta in August. Buying a house for under $300K there which would be $450K+ here. Nothing you said would deter me. Grew up FL (where we had real heat/humidity and many more and varied, serious bugs, lol).
Luckily there are no alligators swimming in the Upstate SC lakes. 12 Mile Recreation Area outside of Clemson and Lake Hartwell are 😎 cooler by a mile on a hot August day.
I am wondering, given how much the area is growing and projected to grow, what is the infrastructure and possible additional public transportation plan to sustain the growth?
If left up to me, I would not allow any more people to move to SC. Especially from the north bringing their democrat style of living and being controlled by unions. Stay the hell up there.
South Carolina schools are just fine. We moved from SC to Minnesota and Minnesota bumps the grade scores. They also drop the lowest test scores across the state. SC does not. You keep the scores you make good or bad. My boys aced the advanced classes in MN. They were placed in advanced classes in MN and we’re in average classes in SC.

lack of public transportation - super spot on. There is not even a way to go from Charleston to Greenville by bus. It's mind blowing to me how far behind this state is.

There's 14 Greyhound bus stations in SC and of them one is in Charleston and the other is Greenville.
If you want public transportation, move to Atlanta or Charlotte. Otherwise, understand you live in a more rural state.

When I moved to rural South Carolina from Miami my auto insurance went up and I was told that SC has either the worst or second worst drivers in the country in terms of deaths per miles driven. Which unfortunately speaks to more than driving skills.
I can absolutely confirm this. People here really can't drive.

Any state with a lot of rural areas and this lack public transport you'll find it's true. If you really want to experience bad suicidal driving go to India.
Try humidity in fla it is bad from mid-April to mid-October. So for me to move to the upstate was a plus. Mosquitoes well if you encourage birds with bird feeders that will take out your bug issues. Also a good swig of apple cider vinegar. The job picture you are very correct over. As far as public transport you are very correct. The public school system does SUC !!!!!!
I'm born and raised here and it's gotten horrible to drive and it's all the transplants, they all seem to drive like they are in the indy 500
In SC, we love our cars and trucks and love to drive. Although our roadways are full of fools that should not be drive. But, we do not want trollies and subways and mass transit. That is for all those people that live like roaches on top of each other. We in SC live in the rural areas and not in projects or ghetto. We love the out of doors and that means getting away from metro areas.
I too grew up in SC, got the hell out when I turned 18. I was born in Anderson and have some pleasant memories about it. When I was 10 we moved to Oconee County near Seneca. Hell, I thought the Beverly Hillbillies was a documentary after moving there. BTW, in the 60s the teachers were also saying, “Thank God for Mississippi.”
You forgot the rainy cold winters where the red clay turns to a slick goo. Don’t forget the state income tax as well. No thanks I’ll pass, but you all enjoy.

I live in Louisiana and love visiting SC. I currently have all the same problems you listed here so for me it looks like a wash.
Unless you live in Alaska, summer humidity is a fact of life for every state including upstate New York where we have our summer home and winter home in SC.
I’m from Houston and it’s looking like I’m going to be relocated to Florence. It’s a really small city in comparison but from looking at the map it seems to have a lot of the same amenities. Anyone have some suggestions on if it’s a good place or if I should stay away.
Yeah, stay away from Florence...it's not as nice as you think. Has some pretty poor parts out there too and dirt roads.

By checking Glassdoor and Indeed, I've found there are a lot of job openings in the Spartanburg area. Unfortunately, they don't really pay well and have almost non-existent benefits compared even to where I live in rural New York State. I'm and Industrial Electrician here in NYS and make around $95,000.00 annually with full benefits but looking at the various openings in Spartanburg, they pay about half as much. Not good....
My wife is an LPN. It took 21 years to make the same here as in Wisconsin. Companies move here because they can pay less and southerners don’t like unions to their own peril.
Yes but a house is probably about 1/3rd the price. Best bet would be to pay off a mortgage in NY then when you retire sell and move to SC :)
Not to fret so much.....the real reason why we will not pay you enough to buy milk and bread.....is that your nice SC air is so wonderful....... Breathe fully and cut your budget to the core!!!

If high price, high quality medical care is something you really care about, this place is not for you.
Prisma health is the worst hospital system probably in America because they lower the bar for the education and the high schools they have to go to Greenville tech to get ready to go to college that's 2 years and money and then once they get ready to go to medical school they lower the bar for that and University of South Carolina will produce the most pathetic and stupid doctors of all... Lisa Fraglioni and Kylie Stott or some of the most stupid..

Yes, the drs here had to barely pass medical school. The rural drs are awful.
Best cities are Greenville and Charleston stay away from North Charleston and Columbia...

Parts of downtown Charleston are dangerous too and people get shot on king Street alot. Charleston ain't all that. I live in walterboro and it's dangerous as well. North Charleston is bad as well people get killed daily. And south Carolina isn't really southern anymore with all the plants opening up lots of Yankees have moved here.

The lowcountry of SC is identical in geography and climate to FL.
Some roaches, some snakes in the woods. Fire ants.

I have so much family in SC who were born, raise and reside. The healthcare system is lackluster IMHO. Yes, the lack of public transportation is not great in the SC either. It's a good place to visit, but for my taste it is still too slow.

Btw unadvertised off Hilton Head is shark city, a true shark nursery, take a boat out and see for yourself.
Horry county 300 to 500 luxury tax per car every year. For schools and roads. State taxxes are high also. I am 65. 2400 per year. In ohio only 800 per year on 60,000 per year salary. 3 times higher. Electric bill average. 100 per month cheap. Myrtle beach has breeze year round. Not as hot. Gulf stream is great.

I disagree, the school’s system is terrible.
My hometown here in SC used to send somebody to West point, the naval academy, or the Coast guard academy almost on a yearly basis. We don't inflate our grades here. After watching Man on the street interviews in California and so many other places..... We're doing okay here.

Some ppl is good here but easley mill hill would be good place to live if they would get rid of the bad ones if this makes anyone mad is because u know u one and if they would shut down that local hangout and meet site and they are disrespectful ones live here they set and watch u but when u look there way they want to get mad and call u evil when I stay home with pit bull aliyah I woke up and there was a girl on a moped setting in front of the car in the yard at 3:00 am friend across the street his motorcycle got stolen don't feel safe here so I pray I can move

There's cons here but cons everywhere the pros are cheaper housing and lower taxing... They have also become more progressive the last 20 years... They also don't get hurricanes every year....

I’ve lived in North Jersey all my life. Built a house in Horry county in 2021. Retirement in 2 years! Will be moving permanently! I can’t wait, you couldn’t scare me away if you tried!!😂 So looking forward to the change 😎

I can’t believe paying $65.00 a month for car insurance (NY) now in SC I pay $150.00🤬. I changed insure from Geico to Progressive & it went down to
to $95.00. That’s still $30.00 more! I’m from an area that 55 was the speed limit. SC drivers drive too fast.! I feel like I’m driving on the QEW in Toronto. Bunch of speed demons

@@kleamat There are bad, very bad schools in very state, and good, very good schools in every state. My grandkids attended schools in SC. One skipped a grade, three graduated and have started college, and the youngest is in 9th grade, and already looking at college scholarships.

To be fair, if looking for good public schools, do as we do and live in Powdersville. Anderson One school district is FANTASTIC, and we live close enough to enjoy all the great things about Greenville.

I almost moved to SC from Cali but couldn't, but in researching SC there was a bit of culture shock, the area i was going to move to was a town of less than 900 people but has 4 churches. Also a big shock was the marijuana laws in SC being, how would i say it, archaic
It is stupid about marijuana laws its a dam plate seed from GOD but sc loseing money because of there stupid laws were poor and some of the ppl are underhaned and narssisic to tge bad ppl are over ruling the good smh

@@captainjocassee i know a woman in Hilton Head who's dog was bit when she took him outside at 10:00 at night. The vet said it was bitten by two rattlesnakes. He didn't survive. Do people see them in their yards often?
@@melodymoore4323 The odds of getting bitten by 2 rattlesnakes are very slim as they don’t hang out in groups. They typically don’t strike twice either. If it was cooler at night time they do go to the concrete which is still warm going into the fall.

The absolute worst thing is all the Northerners moving here which has increased the overcrowding by a lot. I used to never get caught up in a traffic jam and now its every day.

Who (or what entity) is responsible for gathering (and comparing) statistics used for grading state education systems?
What are the criteria used for said ratings?
I ask because given the obvious liberal (at best, Marxist at worst) bent of our national education systems - K-12, as well as what seems to be a majority of colleges - might those statistics be flagrantly skewered? (How convenient that would be for the little socialists....)
For example, when looking at national "gun violence" statistics, it was discovered that no studies include comparative statistics regarding how often a gun THWARTS violence (attacks, assaults, home invasions, car jackings and/or murders)......so all we hear about are the negative gun-use stats that conform to the anti-gun narative.
Withholding exculpatory evidence......is tantamount to lying (just look at what the marxist asshats are doing to Trump)...
So, if SC is holding steady at teaching traditional core subjects (Math, English, REAL Science and American Civics, as opposed to "Social Studies"), and meanwhile, shies away from modern communist indoctrination......it doesn't surprise me in the least they score lower.
Frankly, at this point, I think someone ought to look into it.......I don't trust ANY of these anti-American arseholes.
