      Fairly obvious to be fair. When we have new white belts join our dojo it's pretty easy to see. Technique is always key. Strength and weight has their own benefits and weaknesses.

    This is why I love Jiu-Jitsu. You see the beauty of handling a bigger guy who is a bodybuilder like Mike, and he is getting tired while James is relaxed. You see any white belt can defeat 99% of anyone who doesn't train Jiu-Jitsu. Great work Mike! If you implement Jiu-Jitsu to bodybuilding you would be a beast mate! Oss 🤙🏾

    • @kaibe5241
      @kaibe5241 6 місяців тому

      White for sure. 6 months regular training you'll beat pretty much anyone who isn't trained in any martial art or self defense. Period. You can test this so easily - anyone new off the street gets destroyed by a WB with even just 3+ months regular training.@@justinhearst

    It's impossible to know how truly helpless you are against a trained grappler until you try it. Once you try BJJ and realise there is a super power you can develop, the ability to control a bigger opponent without hurting them, you'll never stop training.

    The only thing I would change is: takedowns.
    I'd use some simple trips or sweeps from judo.
    Because you can't do a double or even a single leg takedown on a heavier opponent, if he resists. You risk staying under him.

There was a couple of times where you can see with a bit of refining, he could pick it up pretty quick (at 31 mins when James is explaining the hip escape, he's posting well on the elbow and you can see the power coming out of the hips). After a few moments scuffling and a few punches thrown he safely contained the aggressive guy with a RNC until the police arrived, despite being kicked and punched by the aggressors friend. One thing i hate is when higher belts let brand new people tap them in sparring. In drills whatever and by all means let them work but if the newbie is agreeing to spar hes not tapping me. 9/10 times when you do that they go home thinking theyre good then quit. If you want newbies to stay you should show them the skill gap. You dont even have to tap them just show u can do whatever you want and they cant stop you.

    I’ll have to come back to this video when I have more time, but wanted to ask this. How is this neck hold going to stop the person from taking a sharp object _(not sure if youtube will delete my comment if I write the word kn*fe or g*n in that sentence)_ or pointed lead projecting tool from stopping the neck hold person?

    • @badgasaurus4211

      You aren’t going to attempt this if they have a weapon in hand

    • @jbhann
      @jbhann 6 місяців тому

      @@badgasaurus4211 …but what if the bad person has a concealed weapon when the good person applies the neck hold? The bad person can then take out the weapon and easily jab the good person behind him…right? The bad person’s arms are absolutely free to grab whatever.

      @@jbhann What if the ceiling collapses and you’re mid hold? Or someone else jumps in and kicks you in the head? You can only work with what you know in that moment. I highly doubt whomever kept their weapon stowed for the entire fight would have the mental will to be able to access and pull that weapon out once in a choke hold

    I have no bjj experience, but I thought the choke was to cut off blood supply, so if done right the person should still be able to talk as it shouldn't block the airway

      You have no idea how many times you end up with sore throat from chokes.

    • @1jakedizzle
      @1jakedizzle 6 місяців тому +1

      That is true, it’s actually a strangulation not a choke. You should be able to talk but when your head feels like it’s going to pop it’s not so easy

    • @C0d0ps
      @C0d0ps 6 місяців тому

      Because rear naked choke is a choke.
      It will cut off blood to the brain which makes talking very difficult.
      -
      Other stuff like guillotine will stop the airway.
      Both chokes and strangulations might result in sore throats.
      -
      Most people use muscle over technique which leads to long lasting injuries.

      I'm just a blue belt but the way I see it, the issue is that the neck is very vulnerable and everything is all there. That is to say, a tight choke of nearly any kind will restrict breathing, blood flow to the brain and also will hurt. But most chokes/strangles lean toward one of the three, neck crank, air choke or blood choke so-called. A blood choke will still effect your voice noticeably as well as the whites of your eyes. Triangles are blood chokes typically.

      We usually call strangulations, like guillotine to cut off air supply.
      Chokes, like triangle cut off blood to brain like you said.
      -
      Most people don’t have perfect technique which is fine but that is why you may feel more neck cranks.
      -
      A perfect arm triangle should choke not strangle you in seconds, I’m giving it 10 seconds max.
      -
      But perfection is only in theory, so expect a neck crank and constant adjustments.
      -
      I compete in no gi bjj and plan on doing B class mma in the future.
      I have a thicc neck and just got cauliflower ear.
      I can just not tap to most strangulations but a rear naked cuts of the blood to fast.
