It's especially awful for us in Australia because we only just got done with those bushfires. The heavily affected places *need* tourism to rebuild, which they're not going to get if things keep going like this.
I finished tradeschool in 2019 6 months ago, applied for apprenticeship' for united nations' amtrack, nj transit, mta, pepco, local one elevator. They sent emails last week telling me the apprenticeships have been cancelled, or postponed till futher notice and expect to be a wait period of 6-8 months.
Was let go of my electrical helper position, two weeks ago, now i clean the homeless shelters here in nyc for 15 a hour. Had to move back in with my folks.

Yes, i wish we could all happily live together. But this is a pandemic, the nest thing is to avoid people, to prevent infecting and getting infected by other people.

It’s called preparing for a “rainy day.” In the past that’s what everyone did.

Once we get thru this, I hope that the people who were not prepared will change their mindset... and realize that it is smart to prep.

There are so many intelligent, educated women who just need a leg up, and a smart man to guide them through all of this. Can you do that? Tell them where they need to start, and what things they should buy first to get going!

There may be a segment of women that need it, but single/divorced is entirely too broad and honestly, too cringy. I'm twice divorced and gratefully single and my ex-husbands were as useful as tits on a bull when it came to anything related to prepping, emergency management, problem solving. My one ex husband still contacts me for advice on things like this. Doesn't hurt I have a background in emergency management and have lived off grid and fulltime RVed for years at a time, but I taught myself these skills from the ground up and I grew up in NYC and lived there all my life. I had no background in prepping, camping, off grid living whatsoever. The information is out there. Hopefully he will make what you're asking him for, minus the group designation.

@@marymary4144 What do you mean? It's already happening in some areas. People are hoarding. If one little glitch in the supply chain happens it only takes a day or two for supplies to run out. The last place I would want to be is in a big city.

I hope Grandma is OK and it all clears up quickly. Being in the same age group, I understand her concern. However as a statistics guy, I would point out to her that she is much more likely to recover than to develop big problems. Stay strong.
She is also Diabetic which is more concerning.
@@DropForgedSurvival My wife ironically was hospitalized for a severe case of pneumonia back in November and nearly died from it. She was 29 years old. When you haven't gone through things like this It's easy to say statistically you'll be fine. The people shrugging it off weren't hospitalized for 5 days over a bacterial infection that we have a plethora of drugs to treat. When you've been through something like that you gain respect for infectious disease that it rightly deserves.
Another thing not often mentioned is how in many cases when people don't die they count them as "recovered" as if they are just as good as they went in. In reality, many of them have permanent disabilities as a result.

We live in a smallish town in South Texas. Most of our county is rural. And the stores are just plain nuts. I have read so many SHTF books that I am beginning to think I have lived through this once before lol. It’s my belief that many who are panic buying are those who work in the big “city” and eat out more than at home. They probably did not have a full weeks of groceries or supplies in the house before the panic hit the fan. I saw a girl crying at the store because there was not one jar of ragu sauce on the shelf. But behind her was tons of canned tomatoes of every variety. Think out side the box people. Couple cans of tomato sauce garlic and onion you can make your own “ragu”. So far the fresh veggies are still available. So having said my pet peeve lol. I hope and pray when things get back to normal having an honest to goodness working pantry is the new normal

DropForgedSurvival Oh no I completely agree with you. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with prepping, I prep a lot to. I’m just saying we shouldn’t be worried and scared how this whole thing will turn out, and put prepping as our only way of survival during this. Because ultimately God is in control, and He will provide for us. But I think being prepared is good, it’s better than having nothing, and then going to the store and all the TP is gone😂

This is my opinion and mine alone. I'm not bashing anyone for thier actions. I feel that some people are just taking this far to much to the extreme, water will still come out of the tap until the power grid goes down. If you're paranoia hoarding food all your doing is making it harder for anyone else to get any sort of food supplies or even daily groceries. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and family for the best. I have a 83 yr old grandfather that's been thru it all. He's been to Korea and naum served in both conflicts and is a avid preper and has several health issues. My mother has C.O.P.D. and i worry everyday about of them with this COVID-19 virus.

It just stinks that our young and elderly are the ones that are the ones most likely at risk to it. But i just today's numbers in for my state and I'm not surprised that the numbers are so low at 59 cases in Connecticut compared to Oregon where my grandfather lives has almost 900 cases of COVID-19.

Speaking as someone that saddly works at a Wal-Mart it was nice to see the sanitary measures they are taking. The sanitary measures that Wal-Mart is taking go a lot further that just the disinfecting of registers and self checkouts. I can alienates that thoe hours of operation have been cut there has been no word of the corporation going to strictly online sales. They are doing what the can to help they're employees and the community as a hole .
Sad it takes something like this.. But its good to see it happen no matter the motivations behind it.

I'm a cart guy at Costco, and I've seen a number of people completely change position once they get into the store. Waiting in line is confusing and frustrating, but once they see how dedicated we are to keeping things as clean as possible, everybody inevitably relaxes.

I think the news media has made alot of this panic shopping happen, I work in a retail store and we've been wiping things down with disinfecting wipes every hour by register, closing an hour early to clean the store, mopping floors a little heavier on bleach, and first hour we are open is for the elderly or if they have really young children, and it's getting hard for us employees to maintain professionalism, while getting yelled at for not having toilet paper or hand sanitizer and Lysol in stock for long after we get a truck
I appreciate your take on this. I've seen to many youtubers talking down about people not being prepared instead of offering advice to them on some alternative things they can do in this time. Because this was not a over night disaster many people still had time to get things. If we can concentrate on telling them what to get\do instead of being like school children laughing at them saying I told you so, it will go better for us all in the long run. Like not having to worry about those same people you are laughing at showing up at your door. let's be kind and help where we can.
I'm at silicon valley south bay to be exact and we have been in lockdown for a week now. My mom has had a fever for 8 days now. We tried going to the get tested sites they have here but she did not qualify 😔😢. I'm just hoping that she is ok trying to call hospitals or clinics and they say they will call back but we haven't received any calls. I haven't seen my mom since she fell ill and its killing me my sister who has been exposed since day one is handling things . I also work for a cemetery down here and they ordered an extra cooling unit about 10x30 makes me wonder that they know shit is about to get real

Thank you for this video Chris. I hope your grandmother gets better. My dad passed away July 25th of coronavirus complications to the learning kidneys. He was 88 years old. He stop going out March 20th so I was the only runner in this house. And I always use two to three masks gloves long-sleeve shirt long pants strip before I get inside put it all in the washer. But he still got the virus and passed on. I did get him to start prepping praise God now I mom and I have an entire Pantry full of food that will last about nine months for us. That is not a kind of thing is more of a i opening two people of what could and does happen and just to prepare. God bless you and your family.

I’ve always tried to have at least 3 weeks of food in the house. Not much by prepping standards but it’s comforting to know I don’t have to rush out when a blizzard is coming. This is crazy how people are reacting. I live @60 miles east of NYC on the island. Schools are closed as well as many stores. Glad I only needed a few items when the panic buying started. Grocery stores are being restocked and senior/health hours are in place. Stay calm, stay safe
That is some small good news about the retailers.. Yes. Remain Chill and Keep a clear head.
They are panicking because the media is totally over blowing the issue. Proper hygiene and people staying home when they are sick would alleviate the majority of the problem. For example Calif says stay home but then says it’s okay to go for walks and to walk your dog. Just stay 6’ apart. If it was so contagious they would say stay insude

In my town....our Elders have a hotline, to call up...and they get their food delivered to their door fronts at discount prices of 30% for the food and supplies they need.

Stay safe over there guys. We’ve just been put on a 3-week lockdown here in the UK. I suspect the lockdown will last longer than that. The past week has been utter carnage in our supermarkets, and now online food shopping is only giving delivery dates for 3-4 weeks time. Panic buying makes the situation worse, and the best advice we’re getting is ‘Stay Indoors’
We as human beings are top predators that don't have enemies, but it suck that not all human beings can be United to protect and watch over each other
I got stuck in line inside of a Kroger a day after the virus hit Georgia last March. The day before I was stocking up in Walmart because I heard the governor was about to make a major announcement and I knew what that meant. It was like no one was even aware so the store was normal. Fortunately, I haven't had to wait in a long line since.

I went to the drug store to get some tissues for my sick daughter Saturday after going in 3 other stores before I found any. Only that one was taking precautions for the virus. They made people stay back 6 feet apart at a blue line before approaching the register they sanitized everything. The counter,the scanner and the debit card machine. That’s the only store I’ve seen really cleaning stuff.

Unprepared people are already coming to me wanting ammo and food. I've told them for years to get stocked up. They didn't believe me or take my advice. I tell them my supplies are for my group only. I'm not giving our supplies away to everyone. And we are prepared to guard them.

I had to get on my family's case for the simple reason that i gave them clear warning to prep themselves and they didn practically nothing. Other than that i have friends and family in a "network". We help find supplies and share with each other if one needs something.👍

Praying for your grandma. I'm not a senior but I'm diabetic and a newer amputee recovering from sepsis. It's scary and I'll tell you ..... But some dskind bleach or get the recipe offline to have for anyone with a puncture or open wound. Kills MRSA & saved my life. A few years back no antibiotics worked but that did... If you need it now pharmacies have it or can order it. Love your videos and hugs to you guys

At this point the thing that makes me most anxious is apparently everyone is going out buying guns and I dont have one. Not that Id ever want to shoot or hurt anyone but scenarios are going through my mind...
People always panic more in cities. I’m in a small upper middle class beach community in New England and it’s not that bad here but people are being pre cautionary and social distancing and a lot of restaurants are closed but the stores have most items in stock besides toilet paper lol
I lived in New England for a few years. It takes alot of phase folks there. but if it does.. boy do people get weird. I miss the snow and waterways up there mostly.

On a same/ different note...are state (Washington) has even shut down fishing. I get that if something was to happen while going to and from...but we still can go to a store with hundreds of people.
I've been recently diagnosed with PTSD, and have been suggested by the people helping me to get out and away from my home. Now with the government telling me not too...this won't go well.
