I am a black woman and it is not about race, it's about qualification. My Mother was the debate partner to the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, and she has done more than Shelia Jackson Lee ever done for her district 18. Mother was Barbara's debate partner at Texas Southern University under the great Dr. Thomas Freeman and she wrote a summer program back in the 80s' to help youth become employed during the summer time so when they went back to school they would be able to help the low-income households hiring 2,000 youth and the program made it to Washington DC to the Department of Labor mirror the program for other black communities in other Cities. Also, it was a democrat governor who removed the vocational programs from the high schools in NFISD, HISD causing youth nothing to look forward to once graduating from high school.
Always talking about color from the 1960s when I was born till now color this, color that, rarely do we see each other as equals a man, or a woman. In the 1970s in NYC when I encounter a married couple that was a black woman and a white man I was elated to see diversity and equality. By 2000 I would have thought racism would be extinct it's now 2023 we haven't moved forward we just reciprocating the same story. Everything around us will move forward except the American people if that's all we see is color first.
I agree its 2023 and racism still exists. The fact that racism exists in the 1st place is already blasphemous enough as it is. But it’s never going to change. America was born off of racism, greed, disrespect, raping and pillaging. An the government doesn’t care not one bit
