I love you and your wisdom sooooo much. as a 25 year old who cares wayyyy too much about what other people think of me, I’m trying to internalize your message. my first application of strategic disappointment is when I was deciding who to invite to my boyfriend and I’s wedding. only 7 people are going to be invited and I know some of my family will be upset that they weren’t invited but who cares. like I of course don’t want people to be upset, but I can’t please everyone.

I just got tired of telling people who asked for my honest opinion my actual honest opinion, even though they thought I was going to tell them what they wanted to hear.

Love this!! I needed to watch this today, it's been a wild few months for me dealing with a new baby and trying all sorts of ways to keep her from getting sick from my 4 year old + i'm back to work today just to tack on that delightful cherry. Trying new makeup recommendations is what keeps me going and hopefully helps me look more healthy and alive than I feel :)

Just had to say that I finally opened the Item Beauty concealer I ordered on your recommendation (before it was being discontinued) and IT IS AMAZING!!! You were soooo right! I went onto SEphora and ordered another for when this one runs out, but now I have to find something to replace it when I run out;).
I decided on NYE to have a Weird And Bitter 2023. I have been menacing for years (Scorpio, Gemini moon, Aries rising), and I will be expanding that menace further.
I’m a big fan of planning month-to-month on my iPad. I use the zinnia app and create calendars and trackers for work if needed. Also, nothing has dates on it you fill in yourself so you can really use the templates for whatever you want!
Planners aren't my thing either. And since my life is consumed by heavy depression I just do stuff when I can and that's it. No planning, no expectations from myself.
I buy planners with good intentions and then stop using them after a week or so. Depression and ADHD. Can totally relate.

I love the sick look ♥ I've been doing a version of this since last year with Em Cosmetics faded clementine palette and all the burgundy/cherry colours there. Also the advices to do less is what I needed at the start of this year
Simon and my kiddo Ollie are almost the same age (Ollie was born November 2020), and DAMN MAN if this kid didn't hit 2 and is suddenly mister manipulation. Also the absolute smartest (I have no idea where he gets that from) and sometimes sweetest little guy. But seriously I was like when did you learn these CIA-levels of tactical manipulation? And he too is also going through a sleep regression, fighting his one nap a day, scream crying at bedtime, and just generally going through crazy bouts of separation anxiety. For months and months he has only wanted "mama" and is only now jusssst starting to inch away from that and give dad the time of day. I am losing my MIND! So all that to say, you are not alone.

Sometimes when someone does you dirty, whatever that may be, reacting in a petty, vengeful way can be very satisfying, and I'm not above that. Nothing that would "blow up" someone's life, but you know. I think people often try to be the bigger person and all that does, IMO, is send the message to the offender that there are no consequences for their actions. I really like consequences.
One of the channels I watch sometimes used to have a link where you could go to schedule a paid, makeup consolidation with her. I don't remember if it was 50 for a half hour or the full hour. But, that is an option if you decide to get into doing that for people regularly.

I really feel like I too am gonna have to surrender to Kackie's triangle of Chaos this year. Very little of my efforts of any kind of the last... 10 years have been paying off or turning into anything that makes much sense as a bigger picture, things are not "falling into place" after very tough periods of life. They just somehow squeeze through time and circumstances into a new shape that I couldn't have forseen and am constantly adapting to therefor. So, yea, chaos is absolutely reigning, and I wish I could just be part of the chaos instead of trying to carefully curate my life and my actions and it turning into nothing at all.
I love this 😅 and you can take it a step at a time. Just let go of something and see if you feel better. Rinse and repeat!

I absolutely hate goal setting. I don't find it a helpful or useful exercise, but my job absolutely loves goal setting. It's painful to do.
Speaking of being a menace, here's me commenting on old videos because if I have something to say, I CARE NOT FOR YOUR TIMELINES, UA-cam (...or indeed time. I CARE NOT FOR YOUR TIMELINES, TIME).
Aaaanyway...1. I have been trying (and failing) to do the bullet journal thing so I can do it my own way and not have to buy a new planner to ignore every year. I'm on like year four of reviving it again for about three days only to ignore it for the next seven months or so. Why have a planner/diary/journal/whatever at all, you ask? It's a fair question, and lots of people probably don't need to be shackled to such things and still manage to function. I am not functioning. I have never functioned. :D And I have a whole host of things I am supposed to be keeping track of for health reasons, and lots of medical investigations that will not move forward without food/symptom diaries, etc. So I need to get my shit together on that front, and have that information contained somewhere usable, instead of the digital equivalent of a closet full of coats with pockets full of post-it notes (actually, even that would be more contained than what I'm actually doing, which is more like secreting post-its hither and yon --- some in coat pockets, sure, but some also randomly in drawers or on the fridge or under/behind/on top of the fridge, under the bed, inside the bed, between the pillow and pillowcase, inside the laundry hamper for some unfathomable reason, etc --- with no real regard for how future me might retrieve the information). So something has got to give.
2. I neeeed to know if you're talking about vantablack or Black 2.0 (or, perhaps, Singularity Black, which I just found out exists as well). Apparently (if my information is to be believed) vantablack WAS the blackest black, but Anish Kapoor being such a gatekeepy prick about it led someone else (Stuart Semple/Culture Hustle) to create Black 2.0: an even blacker black that everyone EXCEPT Anish Kapoor is allowed to use. Which the secret pettiness I hide deep in the deepest cockles of my grey little heart absolutely ADORES. AND I see that they've now made a Black 3.0 which is...even MORE black than Black 2.0, which is more black than vantablack. So now all I want in life is to just paint everything in my world black 3.0 and feel like I'm floating in nothingness.
ALSO: At least when you look like a dude, you look like a sculpted, androgynous dude who could arguably be the object of the affections of an Anne Rice vampire. When _I_ look like a dude, I look like a doughy office worker with his breakfast down his shirt (to be fair, everything but the office worker bit is me all the time anyway). Me as a dude is basically Melvin from Office Space. And i WAS told that I could listen to my radio at a reasonable volume.
Either that or I look like my uncle, which I discovered when I put a fake moustache on at a party once. It's fucking uncanny. Stache me up (I mean, more than usual. I'm Italian so there's always a modicum of stache going on), and I'm basically a Wa-brother (whether the fat one or the gangly one depends on how my body dysmorphia/actual body condition happen(s) to be going).
you know, i used to feel very trapped by calendars and planners too honestly. but then i remembered that the only person putting stuff in the planner.... is me. so i can put whatever the hell i want in them. i also happen to have only a semi-structured life, it's probably 30% scheduled and 70% flexible/ad hoc, and that really helps. but also i wasn't doing just fine before i started keeping up with my google calendar lmao. i also don't always cross over my (usually very lowkey) "goals" with my planner unless for some reason it turns out that putting it in the structured part actually makes it easier.
but until i accepted the way that makes sense for me to use those tools isn't the usual way people tell you to use them, just the idea of planners or goals (nevermind attempting implementation!) actively contributed to the involuntary chaos that is and has been my entire life. i wish people didn't feel shame or pressure to do those things just some certain way... or any way at all, tbh. thankfully i was exposed to Zen koans as a kid and sometimes i just go back to the sound of one hand clapping. like oh well, life is crazy and sometimes you just gotta stop banging your head against it and laugh. plus my tarot cards are always like "you rly thought that huh" 😂ANYWAY you're doing a service embracing the chaos if that's what does you good, out here in front of god and everybody. we need the reminders
I HAVE A COLOR THEORY QUESTION, answer only as you please of course. but i got the lilac blush from about-face and i am a pale olive person (not as pale as HLP but pale) and the lilac blush literally makes me look PALER than i already am somehow.... i thought i knew color theory but this one is eluding me! i mean it looks beautiful, it doesn't make me look bruised or ill. just.... paler. i kind of love it.
