I'm actually interested to hear what you think of watercolor 😂. It's my favorite cause it does have a mind of its own and things may go awry, but it kind of pushes me to add more layers and explore the chaos in ways I wouldn't otherwise. I almost feel like I have too much control with acrylic 🖌️🖌️
Wet paper makes me nauseous. And it feels too final. But mainly wet paper.
Gouache has my ♥ A melding of both worlds ~ the potential opacity of an acrylic, the ability to sheer and swim with the impermanence of water color, yet adding a little gel medium: matte or glossy; dealers choice, to turn your pigments into your preferred set finish.
@@kackie I feel ya, on the opposite side, I have been reaching back to canvas recently after being strictly Canson 140 lb "watercolor' paper the last 6 years ~ two completely different beasts. I put that watercolor paper through the ringer by the way ~~ treat it as multi media, love it. The ephemera of it, is the it for me.

@@redolentkate Gouache is amazing!! I love especially doing watercolor base then going nuts with the gouache overtop. Something about how soft it is by being opaque is just my jam.
The color wheel is breaking my mind! I always thought I had cool undertones and very pink cheeks but everything turns fuscia on me so now I'm like wait, do I have yellow undertones!? Mind. Blown. Thanks!
Love the conversation of today's video. And being aware of what we consume & think about and just wtf are we overall filling our heads with.
I've always been a fan of horror films and rock music... but had also recognized as I got older that that kind of thing actually has a negative effect on my psyche. And that's just a simple example. But it's lead me to really think about what am I putting into my head. I have a tendency to get mental flashes from things I watch or hear about. And I don't want some of that shit in my head... this whole conversation is so fucking valid. And I hope that this is just a sign of the beginnings of an upward trend that society is becoming even more thoughtful.
Omg yes! This is me with any true crime content that is everywhere now. Most of it is just salacious and makes me feel paranoid when it's really unnecessary
Thank you! Imposed music is one of the things that upsets my brain most. Even with romantic partners who had the need to have music playing at all times - I cannot.
I worked retail during Christmas all while I was in college and they would play one “tape” of like 20 songs over and over. Of course during holidays it was Christmas carols. It ruined most contemporary Christmas songs for me and seemed to cause a low level rage after a week or so 😂.
Rachel, Absolutely this. And @jordan, I worked at a salon chain in Kansas City, and they only played songs with music videos. So Christmas time was Christmas music videos. Which are FEW. and VERY low budget. On repeat. It was a nightmare.

Recently I actually had to ask a small boutique if they would mind turning down their Xmas music once the other customers left because it was so loud o couldn’t even process looking at things. It was like Junior high dance in the gym loud in a room the size of a two car garage. 😂😂

Oh, good morning, Kackie! I just watched an old declutter where you mentioned something, a duochrome highlighter or eyeshadow, with a green shift looking a bit "reptilian." You might want to revisit that concept now that you are exploring your "villain" arc, which I know is the opposite of today's look haha. I tried it myself, although my coloring isn't quite the same, it looks fantastic when well-balanced, as with pinks & reds, and I think I know why it works - a little sick/ick delivers tension and a bit of fear/excitement to a makeup look. I think incorporating a bit of subtle narrative tension into a look triggers curiosity and interest, and, in my recent experience, gives me just a skoootch of power/gravitas. I am still pondering it while procrastinating from real work, but I think you might be able to see more color theory at work than I. The almost ugly greenish gold made my muddy teal eyes look beautifully pewter, by the way, I really need to learn more about skintone & color!

I've been doing my makeup by thinking about colours and shadows in the way I would craft a painting instead of the whole (read next sentence in bad Italian accent) "first we put a on the foundation, and then we a put on the concealer and a powder and a more powder and now we beautiful" and it's so much better. Thank you for the reminder that, while I make much much less than most people with my education, I have total flexibility in my work life, along with endless creative opportunities, outdoor work settings in nice weather, and the option to craft an environment that supports me. It's worth the tight budget, I think!
Oh, the non-stop assault of office muzak! I remember once standing on my desk with a screwdriver, disconnecting the speaker above my work station. It didn't result in blessed silence (there were many ceiling speakers in our open environment office), but it helped.
Would u recommend the sublimage concealer and foundation for a wedding makeup look or just more like for everyday wear?

@To believe I couldn't agree more, but I have the solution: earplugs! They saved my sanity years ago when I was being worn down by insomnia & I haven't looked back. I wear them most of the time & not being constantly assaulted by noise is blissful.

@@tobelieve627 I'm quite happy with my Australian drugstore ones: they're rated as SLC 80 & 23dB which is enough to block out most noise around the house, but not so much that you can't have a conversation.

the fenty eaze drop was my only foundation for a year and a half. I loved the look (coverage level, finish--perfectly my preferences) but I always broke out after wearing it:( I got toward the bottom of the bottle and I just couldn't do it anymore. I have the iconic london tint now, which is thinner, dewier and lighter in coverage, but my skin tolerates it!
Have you ever heard of the orb highlight? You put 8 tiny little eyeshadow brush size dots of highlighter going in a circle starting with the inner corner, going under and over the arch of the brow, at the side of the eye outside the hollows, then another one 45 degrees away and under the center of your eye. That highlight technique makes it so you don't have a bar of light shining at times because the light only ever hits one or two points. Also I would love a good alternative to the chanel sublimage for people with pink or red leaning undertones. Even the shade 12 looks straight yellow on me maybe with a pinch of orange. Honestly it's very weird because I use a number of foundations in the same shade as you. Maybe it oxidizes? The texture is so light I'm afraid a mixing color will ruin it.
For folks with different skin tones and undertones than Kackie, what contrasting color combinations give you that "healthy glow" that blue/coral gives her?
I'm pale olive with neutral dark hair and my combo seems to be olive green clothing and dusty pink makeup.
Sounds like we have similar coloring. I live in olive greens and dusty pinks!
Very similar for me, pale light lavender also is a banger, where it is not too purple, but not a pink either. Dusty green depending on shade is also great.
I'm super cool undertoned, blue eyes, auburn hair. I typically get the most compliments when I wear any blue in my clothes & rusty leaning eyeshadow.

I have to agree with you on the whole highlighter topic. I always feel like it takes away from the look of the blush/bronzer. Recently I saw someone put the Merit serum in the palm of their hand and lightly press where highlighter would go and it looked amazing. Didn’t take away from the color that had been placed there but still had a glow. Try it and let us know what you think? Because I get it….I get the desired look of highlighter. This, to me, is the modern way to do it now.

I'm older (45), combo skin, and I got the sublimage foundation, it was so drying on me and cracked, so disappointed I used to love the les beiges and vita Lumiere's... I still want to try the concealer because I am a dummy. I could send the sublimage to someone Ive only used it twice, shade 10 I think

YES to silence= ♥ The studio is 9 out of 10 silent when I paint, I know not for everyone, but the only noise I want when in the scullery is the noise in my head or at the very most the noise of my choosing , not another's, not what corporate decided would push the creative envelope or is that keep the envelope just their side of sealed?

I’m trying not to be curious about the new rare beauty highlighter. I loved the shade enlighten in the liquid highlighter formula, but unfortunately I felt like the formula itself was sticky and oily. So I decluttered it. But the shade and tone was perfect on me. So thinking it exists in a more compatible formula is tempting and exciting. But I have a bunch of highlighters and highlighters take forever to get through, so I don’t want to want this one. Darn.
