Anyone want to be a Dakar Rally bike mechanic? 👨🔧
I want, ineed this.
Me, i'm prepared!!
This guy👋🏼
how i can please
Yes please !
Redbull you are our only hope for quality Dakar footage.
stay tuned 🙌 and keep an eye on our new show on Red Bull TV: In the Dust
So true
@@RedBullRally The Dakar people have dropped the ball the last few seasons, with sparse coverage at best. The riders/drivers/sponsors of lower ranked racers get zero coverage. Us viewers wouldn't mind raw footage with no commentary along side of the official broadcast. We just want to see everything we can of the people and machines in the greatest off road race. Shine some light on the teams outside the top 10, I hope you guys make us proud!!
@@craigdavies8099I recommend you the you tube channel of Benjamin Melot. He is a former KTM official team mechanic and now riding himself in the male-Moto category. 100% Dakar spirit guaranteed 😀✌🏻
@@craigdavies8099 well said
Torque wrench on the oil filter damn you guys do it by the book! Lots of respect for the privateers doing these races with less than factory support
If the oil filter falls off halfway through the stage, the rider knows who was in charge of it so you'd best be doing it properly! 😂
torquing each bolt 3 times made me cringe. No reason for that. You wear out the torque wrenches 3 times us much, and lose time
@@Okipouros they were doing it 4x but the bean counters complained they were going through too many torque wrenches so now they only do 3x 🤷♂️
@@Okipouros 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You need to do everything by the book because you are actually deconstructing and rebuilding the whole bike each day and everything has to work perfectly under extreme conditions. It’s just not worth it to risk anything when you have the torque wrench ready.
Fantastic content, absolutely love seeing the real details. Props to whoever is managing the content and being willing to take a risk on stuff like this, us gearheads love to see it.
Glad you enjoy it!
we love it, please show us more pit crews! These guys are seriously talented!@@RedBullRally
@@RedBullRallythose 10 minutes felt like 30, great content, keep it up!
This is pure garage junkie ASMR.. hearing those torque wrenches click.. pure satisfaction.
Indeed, this is true ASMR
that service is something someone would do for their own bike. The shop will never be such a thing.
Flattened middle pipe (that's why they replaced it) and a big ding in the front rim (they replaced it too)...he hit something HARD!
Lots of little things to adapt a 450 for rally. So cool. External oil filter, non standard shock reservoir, Cush drive hub, modified airbox. Little things I never knew about rally bikes.
More than I expected.
If you look at the lineage of the bikes, they really started with the 950/640 as the base rally bike, then worked to the 690, then to the 450 in the 690 chassis, and finally a 450 perimeter frame based bike. You can see the similarity there between the 950 adventures/690 enduro, and 450 rally still
Nah don't need the cooler or cush drive both overrated. Unless they're free then I'll happily accept and approve my approval..
@@insertnamehere3851 you sound like you know what you're talking about... I'm interested to hear more about your race program.

Brilliant! By far, the best video from this year’s Dakar … and I’ve watched a lot of videos!
No commentary required and no heavy metal, thrash music … just let the camera do the talking.
I love the credit RedBull are giving to the whole team. These guys play such a big part in supporting their athletes. I’m glad to see them get the recognition for their hard work. Also really interesting video to watch 😃 Nice work!
Thing of beauty! The sound of the torque wrenches was like music to my ears. Thank you for great content.
That’s quality internet right there. Wishing the whole team a safe and successful ‘24 rally!
That's some awesome insight into how the pros do it!
It's crazy the number of parts that are replaced or serviced after each day.
Isn't this a little excessive ? Wasteful ? New muffler ?
@@liotier Nah bro, remember they went to 450s from 690s so everything is more 'sustainable'.
@@liotier it gets cleaned and reused for the next stage. They switch between 2 or 3 for the whole rally. They don't have the time to clean out the gunk in between one stage.
@@burddog0792 they were switched because KTM was the only team developing a 690 and everyone else was on 450s. It was to bring privateers and the Japanese manufactures back.
This tickled all the right places in my brain. Thank you for this.
Cleaning the brake bleed nipple is some next level attention to detail.
i think he just take the extra oil out of the nipple so the cover will fit and not squirt all over.
Currently own a ktm 250xc and do my own maintenance. Its cool to see how similar it is working on the dakar bike vs my little dirtbike
I can feel the smoothness of ride after that satisfactory service 😇
Tantissimo rispetto per questi meccanici teneteli bene perché hanno una professionalità che ormai non si trova più in giro. Respect
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen
واقعن ازکارکردنشون وسرویس کاریشون ادم لذت میبره چقدرتمیز وبامسعولیت کارمیکنن❤❤❤
Love those Nepros T handle socket wrenches
I was wondering who made those. $70 a pop is a bit too much for me.
@@18S_TD yeah they are expensive, but really nice Japanese quality
I thought I knew what meticulous meant. I was wrong. Nice little instruction video for my 2024 post Supermoto race strip down... thank you!
Por favor, publiquen más vídeos como este.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Aerospace lock wire, beautiful work guys.
I think atleast a team of 10 technicians for one bike. & they measure each and everything and torque setting for most of the nuts and bolts , not just visual setting . Shows how the technicians are equal to the riders in getting a victory Loved the video.
Seems almost too much but I'm sure it has to be absolutely perfect at these levels.
But with this much servicing it seems there could also be a risk that something doesn't get done correctly and won't work the next day :D
That fuel tank/bashplate/cooler design is a work of art.
I had the same exact thought. But I suppose this gets checked by 3 people in a row. But still
They would know how to do it with their eyes closed. It's routine for them. Always possible for something to happen but it won't be common
Rebuild the fork mid race? New clutch plates? Is that necessary? I'm guess someone much smarter than me thinks so.
@@steedu46gt it’s so it won’t cost them the race better safe then sorry I would rather have all fresh stuff then not and risk the clutch or fork seals or your forks give out especially in a long race
That is why only perfectionist mechanics and techs get to do this type of work. There is only one way to do a job properly and that is 110%
I really enjoyed it!!! 🚀 orange power !!! Go Toby 🇦🇺
I have way more respect for the bikes now❤ thank you for this
I wish I had a team like this waiting for me at my garage every time I get back home riding my moped 50cc
Amazing skills and attention to detail shown by the KTM team. 😊
lol, factory just rebuilts the bike just as in between stage maintenance, meanwhile the malle moto driver only did the oil change, lubed the chain and says: fuck it, those tires can do another stint and goes marking his next roadbook. awesome vid
jajajajajaja so true
This much maintenance on half a endurance race, I mean I get it, but my 04 yami sure never seen this much love.
Still hits jumps straight and rips.
Don't get me wrong this was still way cool to watch, and makes me wish the maintenance I did do looked this easy. KTM has forever been my dream bike.
Very interesting video.
The technique of dakar is awesome.
Made me happy to spot the hydraulic press from Werner Weitner GmbH being at 1:58. Awesome tool company here in the middle of Bavaria. Their stuff is top-notch, started out when the founder was sick of crap tools, so he started to manufacture his own tools.
I had no idea they pulled the whole suspension and most of the exhaust. Really interesting and cool to see
So satisfied with the service
Magnificent! This is giving me many ideas for servicing my own bike!
Just Wow ........... speechless. Perfection.
This video shows how hard Dakar is for the Original participants. Awesome footage btw
or the Malle Motto competitors...
i thought it was the same@@curzon394x
Yeah Malle moto guys and girls do all that and more hats offf to them
There's something therapeutic about seeing things being taken care of properly.
Amazing! Meticulous & dedicated team of technicians! Way to go!!👌👍👍
How cool was the remote oil filter/cooler
I miss doing this, this was Saturday morning as an 18 year old different bike of course but stil an orange one.

Every little detail, awesome and thank you for showing us.
thank you red bull for this footage much love
This video is a gem. ASMR af. Thanks! More, please!
Awesome insight! Thanks for taking the time to capture this! Will implement the same on my 701 ;)
In the meantime some people: “I need a 1290cc to go on the dirt” 😅
Everything...seems...easy & fast... (with plenty mechanics) ☺️
I can't wait to hear the stories from private drivers.
It would be bucket list item to be the bike mechanic at the Dakar Rally.
I can watch this all day ❤
This is amazing. And makes you think about the malle Moto guys
from dirty to super clean....great work guys...
Thanks for Sharing!
So satisfying to watch that. If only we could prioritise the time!
I enjoyed watching this video and actually found it slightly therapeutic , but also made me feel bad for the Malle boys who don't have this financial support.... Ride, Eat, Fix, Sleep and Repeat!!
So satisfying to watch, love it!!
I was doing this prep work on my Husqi 300 for next years race season, 50% of this work took me two days 😂
This is a crazy amount of work in preventative maintenance!
You do this After every Stage??? Fookin hell! If someting breaks or tecnical faliure -> the Rider was it! Respekt for that!
Спасибо! очень приятно смотреть такое видео, познавательно и интересно!!!
Thanks for this Red Bull. My type of video❤
Make sure Toby get the comfy seat 😃
Can you come over to do mine next please?
I have a ride next week😎
Very cool. I really like the oil filter set up. Would love to have that on my ktm
T wrench on everything!! Man these guys are serious!! The video should be called "ASMR Rally Bike service"
Wow what a bike. Great see what happens it looks amazing!
This is the best ASMR on the internet
Definitely a new bike every day, I just wish to have one for my entire life
Toby rocking around looking like he's stumbled in off the street and been gifted some Redbull clothes as charity will never cease to crack me up. He's a bloody legend 😁
Wow, amazing work done by specialists, this would be any bikers dream bike service, wish the service centers learn to love bikes, lastly KTM 🔥🎇🎆🔥
That front stand is SWEET. I'm wondering if that is a custom made thing or something that can be bought?
probably a custom built tool by the team. and like all things team related it's not going to be on sale unless you have a very extensive network of contacts 😂
@@lalramdinavarte4987 that is what I was thinking as well. It certainly is a sweet tool that makes working on the front end easy.
Maravilloso video. Muchas gracias 👏👏👏👏🤩🤩
amazing. would love to see this for the cars and kamaz trucks as well
Torque wrench, oil filter I love it
How the actual bikes retain some principles from the very first 950 adventure like the configuration of the tanks and the way to fix them or the principle of the clutch..
.... but also things that have changed like the frame and the prolink style suspension
we all wish have a brand new bike every day, good luck on the track.
Outstanding presentation....
Wonderful video! Cool!!
Love from India!
How i wish i could work in any Redbull team☝️
Really interesting video. Though am surprised Toby didnt give it a test ride around the bivouac. That's confidence. Makes you realise even more what the original by Motul/Moto Mallee guys n gals are up against.
Good luck guys!
So they...clean it? Cool video but I was expecting engine overhauls and fork rebuids
Malle moto guys is a different story :-) Every detail count. great video
That looks so awesome, very good looking bike and a great team, great job for the mechanics. I love it
7:35 What manufacturer are those T wrenches from? I liked them. Thanks.
This is what my dad thinks he looks like as he puts on forks on my bike without a measuring tool😂 or cutting the bars❤
More cleaning than maintenance. A new exhaust pipe during the race?
incredible, well done!
Awesome video!! Well done you Red Bull Rally team, cheers to an amazing 2024 for all of you and more amazing videos too! 👍👍
Are there rules regarding what is allowed to be replaced by the pit crew or is it a case of as long as the bike stays true to submitted spec then it's fine to go back out?
Yeh that would be interesting. I guess there must be daily scrutineering?
That was satisfying.
I just thought that i performed major maintenance on my 350. I take it complety apart chassis wise 2-3 times a year.
Toby #1 🇵🇹🇦🇺
What brand tools are the techs using?😊
Why were the triple clamp bolts torqued before the front axle was installed? I thought the correct procedure is to torque the lower clamp, then put the wheel in, align everything and only then tighten the top.
Awesome video. Cool technology and innovation on a rally bike compared to a motocross bike.
