One shop I worked at had a lot of trucks with DT466 engines working under heavy use. Every one of those engines I overhauled the rod and main bearings looked brand new. They used Shaeffer Supreme in all the diesel engines. Expensive oil but IMO oil like Shaeffer is worth the cost.
You’d have no viscosity left in the oil when it’s at 260*f after ripping on it for 2 laps. Warm idle is 45. Peaks at 75. How much less do you want to sacrifice safety for maybe a few extra ponies? That’s why you let the car warm up before ripping on it . Even throw a little moly in there to help keep it all lubed
Lol limiter for 5 years plus on nearly stock valvetrain aside from sorings. These should be replaced every year or so. I’d say the oil filter was the issue
@@deshiroller67 You might check out Donaldson Blue oil filters. Mine filter down to 8 microns. Besides the valve springs going bong it looked great. Great luck with your new engine.
I don't know whats better, watching a clean engine tear down ... or listening to some great country music. Man has taste.

Schaeffer is the best oil on the market period. Often copied but never duplicated. A company doesn't get to be 185 years old selling junk oil.
I try to tell folks just try Schaeffer oil 1 time and youll be hooked.
Best oil ever 💯
Their products have been widely used and proven in the mining, trucking and marine industries. Their greases are second to none.
I have no experience with their racing oils but their diesel oil is great stuff.
What was causing the low oil pressure?
I'm not sure if 20-50 is the best weight for flowability. I'd just run Shaeffers 10-30, but that me.

Maybe 15w50 or 10w40
Looks like better oil filter is needed. You really trashed out those valve springs.
