Whaaaaaaaaaaaat.. U guys got Greg Banish on, he's an absolute legend!!! Huge blessing to be able to listen to him. Watched all his calibration videos and read his books, truly brilliant.
I watched every second and was glued to every word Greg said. He is beyond words intelligent and yet can convey complex information for average people to understand. This has to be one of the greatest videos interviewing one person in the calibration/tuning industry, that I've ever watched in quite a while. Greg speaks gold!
Greg is an AUTHORITY in the industry. If you don't know who Greg Banish is, you really need to do some research beyond youtube searches. Great interview guys! He is spot on regarding the criticality of proper injector data for the base of accurate calibration.
This is in my top 3 of all time best podcast episodes. Great stories and a wealth of knowledge. I'll probably listen to it again in case I missed something.
❤ Great interview, I bought Greg's firrst book as well as his dvds shortly before I started my custom performance calibration business back in 2009. It was an excellent resource that I still recommend to those who aspire to enter the field and want to learn the fundamentals. Robert Bosch GmbH publishing was my other go to resource for theory on everything, from gasoline engine management to gasoline direct injection and diesel engine management.
Excellent content! Have to credit Greg. His book got me into tuning many years ago. Wish he would write a book on Coyote tuning! Hope to see him on more podcasts as well.
Granted it was over a decade ago, but every time I've met Greg (twice) he was so condescending it took all my willpower not to tell him to f off. He says he's trying to spread the word, but all he does is discourage you in conversation and try to make you think you're not good enough. He's so arrogant he makes me look humble.
Yea, pretty obvious it's an insecurity. However, he IS a wealth of knowledge and his books are very good for beginners who really should know the math behind it all.
There’s only 2 in the whole 3 hour episode? Unless you mean UA-cam’s ads which I’m not sure what the frequency on those is but I’ll check and see if there’s anything I can change!
Desync between video and audio from 2:10:14 until 2:15:48 Pretty annoying, possible to fix? Still looking forward to whenever you guys start making timestamps for your podcasts of topics being discussed, it'd greatly boost watch time.
First off thanks for the feedback, helps more than you can imagine. Won’t be able to fix it on this episode but thankfully it’s a short stint! (More than you need to know but the new mics we got basically “skip” time to time and cause issues like this. Surprised I missed this one :() I’ll get on it! I’ll have to figure out a good way to do it. 🫡
The thing is, an OEM doesnt need to do that. Unless something went wrong with the car, you have hundreds/thousands of maps that will take care of individual cylinder fuel balancing based on the data acquired during the development of the engine (where they DO use them). So for a car thats intended to be stock and emissions compliant, the calculations and models still stand. For heavily modified cars where that model doesnt work anymore, that obviously changes, but then thats something left for the customer and/or tuner to do.
i think greg has a history/car/plane UA-cam channel and that would make sense why he's up-on turbocharged and or hybrid's and nsasa/NACA ect also explains how he was able to mod/fix multi-air car he owned/on the channel as the camshaft is wild/hard to OBD2-tuning ect
@@richardprice5978 Greg was one of the head calibrators at GM for years and last I checked they still have him in for consulting/ training...that's why.
This is a cool podcast and a great guest, but the shows are just way too long for me. If they were about half the length, I would love that. At 1:54 minutes they talked about locked ECUs on newer cars. At 2:10 they talked about future aftermarket ECU options. Regulations seems to be the answer. I have a feeling it has to do with fear of people trying to control cars and crash them. They are afraid of someone getting killed, terrorists, all kinds of crap. The way I understand it, if Ford is going to sell Mustangs in Europe, Australia, and around the world they have to tighten security a lot farther than if it was just in the US. I think that means if we can't get a US specific version then we get screwed bc it is the same software that is used globally. At 2:45 they talk about the Mach E Mustang and the numbers game for Ford with emissions.
Nearly the entire video I am trying to figure out where I knew this name from. After he said he tuned 1,000 cars in a year I remembered it was from Livernois. Good tuner but a crappy company from a customer service standpoint.
Pretty cool but it's like the dude just spent 3 hours blowing himself in front of a couple of dudes. I'm a calibrator I'm so much better than a tuner I only work with known numbers and standards!

That you greg?
Greg is a wealth of knowledge. Lucky to have him for injectors characterization data for a number of oem controllers.

Recognised his name from the tuning books I read way back when. Clicked straight away. Awesome dude!
Great episode guys! I just watched the whole thing and subscribed. Keep it up 👏
I’ve taken the calibrated success beginner and advanced classes more than a couple of times. Greg’s awesome.
A legend... Got a lot of priceless information from his books.
Awesome information! I hear from him before! The way he describes tuning vs calibration is the right way to go.
Man thank you for this. This kind of information is what keeps Motorsports alive

Amazing episode. Thank you!
This video was unbelievably amazing for understanding my lovely Cobb access port, if you can stay with Greg and listen to what he says❤

So good, cheers gents!
THIS WAS AWESOME!!!
"People read the title of the article, and then they comment" Realest thing he said about the internet.
Please do another podcast with Greg.
Absolutely one day! Currently trying to get him on Justin Whites podcast as well in the meantime :)
Great conversation to listen to omg
I still have an incon kit on one of my foxes.
Love the conversation. But the commercial breaks are much too frequent.

So how far are we off from monitoring individual cylinder fuel/air ratios on street vehicles??

@michelhadid true at thm moment!! But I wonder if emissions will get so tight calculation will need live data 🤔
