Thanks for this informative video Justin. Can you share any information about flying a drone in Cambodia (Phenom Penh, Siem Reap, country side, beaches etc). I've read articles about flying a drone in Phenom Penh that you must to pay $1k for a permit? That's a bit steep just to fly a drone in the city. I appreciate any advice. Thanks
Hey! Yeah you can fly prety much anywhere apart from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap where you will need to get a permit. It shouldnt be too expensive but they say up to $1000 because they need to include potential use for commercial filming etc. The best bet would be to apply and see what they say, or just not fly in those locations 😃
Gudday justo! Big fan from the land down under, Tasmania! What’s the Covid restrictions like up there mate? Is it just don’t be a dingo and everything is alright ay? Anyway c unt love the content! Can’t wait to get out there again!
G'day! Yeah pretty much, still had to wear masks indoors when I was there but I think that's changed now and it's pretty much back to normal. Thanks mate! Have a good trip whenever you get back out there! 👌
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Septembers the month for me justo! Gonna be a good month for me ay! Can’t wait to get a couple Ankors and get back to kampong and get the rods out on the river. That’s the good life ay justo!
That'll come round in no time! Yeah that's the life mate! Such a chilled place. Soak it all in!
Hi Justin,
Thanks for a great video. Can Smart set an eSim on my iphone or do they just sell regular sim cards ?
Hey! No problem, I'm not too sure on that one, there is a large Smart shop in PP which was very helpful getting my phone sim set up as I had some issues to start with. Best bet would be to visit them and see if it's possible.
Thank you for the valuable information. Ask me what is the transportation method from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, how long does it take to arrive, and how much is the amount?
Phnom penh to Siem Reap is best done by a mini van. It takes around 7 hours. Head to Camboticket.com for the best prices and availability!
Hi Justin, in terms of the inbound and outbound flights, do you recommend both from Phnom Penh airport? I’m planning to come from London, UK
Hi, yes absolutely, Phnom Penh is the best airport to arrive/depart from
You give the most "no-rubbish" reporting I've seen yet.
Some tourist destinations are in Thailand.
Yes that is just my little intro sequence for travel films. Not Cambodia specific
Yooo you pronounce Battambang so clear just like native 😂
Nice video.
What vlog camera please
Hey! I use my phone, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, on a DJI OM4 gimball
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Thanks
Why did you include a video clip of your trip to the Thai sea in this clip?
Yes, haha that is just my little intro sequence for travel films. It's not Cambodia specific 😅
Do you happen to know the cost of a plane ticket from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap? If so, where could I purchase said ticket. Will be traveling to Cambodia 🇰🇭 this December.
It's around $100-$200 depending on dates. I'd reccomend using Trip.com
Cool video but I would never travel there 😂
Hi Justin!
Thank you so much for all the advices!
How long would you recommand for the trip you are presenting in your video?
Is one week enough time?
I want to bring my family in Cambodia for their first ever trip in Asia. Thanks again!
1 month I think it's perfect, 1 week will be too short
Unfortunately we don't have so much time... Any recommandations for 1 week stay?
For one week it's tough, maybe 2 days in Phnom penh, 2 days in kampot, and 3 days in Siem reap. Travelling between locations will take some time though, 2 weeks would be a nice amount of time. For 2 weeks I would do 3 days Phnom Penh, 3 days Siem reap, 2 days in Battambang. 2 days in Kampot, 3 days on Koh rong/koh rong saloem. There's at least a day of travelling factored into that as well
@@JustinBainbridgeYT you obviously have no idea how much traveling you have to do in a week to see Phnom, Siem Reap, Kampot…
They are hours and hours away from each other.
@@garyroberts3859 Hi there! Yes you're right these locations are far apart, I mentioned this above and suggested that he opted to spend longer in Cambodia if possible. Thank you for sharing your feedback!
very nice video. How did you find the coocikg lesson?
Thank you! The coming lesson was good! It was nice to learn about Khmer food and what ingredients they use
@@JustinBainbridgeYT how can I book such a lesson?
Just find it on Google then contact them to arrange a time to go and cook! 🙂 the one we went to was "Khmer Gormet Cooking class" in Siem Reap
Can you comment on the travel requirements? Did you do visa on arrival/need a pcr?
I applied for the 30 day e visa online, to around 5 days to come back approved. Yes I had to have a negative PCR test but I'm not sure if that's still the case now
I'm going to cambodia 🇰🇭 on the 21st of July for 1month by the time I get to the islands 🏝 it will be August wet season will it be OK for swimming 🏊♀️ or will it just rain all day ?
It'll rain way more than it's dry, especially on the islands. You might get lucky though
I already live in Cambodia lol😂😂 did I just said hearted by the UA-camr
Hey boy, there are tuk tuks everywhere…you don’t need to book them , on every street corner and outside every hotel .
Just negotiate a price before you start.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and feedback!
HI just wondering, did the circus have any form of animal in it?
Hi Imogen! The circus didn't feature any animals. Just locals showing off their skills
One time, this guy named Jello game me a completely different description of Cambodia… idk what to believe anymore
Curious must do list for one week stay? For budget of $100-$200, lodging, food, drinks, and entertainment?
That's a fairly tight budget, but I would reccomdnt this.
Firstly, you can get hostel beds for around $10 a night, which will be your best bet
2 days in Phnom Penh, visit the killing fields $12 entry fee, visit the markets - free. Visit the Grand Palace and temples in the city - low cost from memory, maybe $5.
2 days in Siem Reap.
Visit Angkor wat. The best bet is to hire a driver for the day, cost, around $20. Entry to the temple was $36 when i went. You'll get to see much more with a personal driver. Also visit Pub Street and take a walk around the city.
1 day Battambang. Hire a driver for the day to take you around the temples, the bamboo train, and the bat caves and killing caves. Total cost, around $30.
2 more days Will unfortunately be lost due to travel times between locations.
The best bet is to get minibuses and use Camboticket.com for the best prices and availability.
Hope this helps!
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Sorry, I meant 100-200 usd per day budget. :)
I'm sorry, Justin...Hotel Zing is the most atrocious hotel. Mattress was rock hard. The entire decor is stark white and bright purple. The convoluted way that we had to get to our room was bewildering, outside onto a balcony overlooking the seedy back laneway at one point. No rugs or wall coverings so it was extremely noisy. We heard chairs moving on floors and TV all the way down the hall. My sister was 3 rooms away from us, my partner and I had a tickle fight and she came running, thinking I was being murdered. The only benefit to staying at Hotel Zing was the ever-so-interesting transport depot across the road. Facinating to watch how much stuff can be piled on moto's and into vans. Breakfast was a nightmare, sun streaming into windows and blinding us, bouncing off the stark white walls. We went back up to our rooms to get our sunglasses. According to the map, Cambodia is NEXT to Vietnam, and below Laos and Thailand, NOT below Vietnam. You forgot to mention MALARIA! If you do nothing else, you MUST take medication for malaria. Siem Reap is so much more than Angkor Wat. Yes it is impressive, BUT there are many, many more ruins to see - Neak Poan, Ta Som, West Mebon, Preah Khan, Bayon, Banteay Srei, to name but a few. The floating villages are mostly populated by Vietnamese, paid for by the Vietnamese government to re-settle there. The reason for the change from a $20 in Reil is because the Cambodian government has removed $1 and $5 dollar notes from circulation to strengthen the local currency. Lastly, "Everything you need to know" in a 10 minute video? Not nearly enough time. Sorry if this is too harsh, but we have the experience of 5 trips to Cambodia, and felt the need for clarity. P.S. Just curious, where did you film this? Is that Coles supermarket in the background?
Hey! Thanks for the feedback I'll respond to some of your comments here.
I found hotel Zing to be very cheap and cheerful. After staying in other budget hotels, Zing had far superior facilities and I was happy to have a nice hot shower and a clean room, the firmness of the mattress was fine from my memory. And I found the rooms to be well sound proofed. But two people can stay at the same place and have vastly different experiences haha.
Please feel free to reccomend some other options where you had better experiences!
Yes I realised I had a slip of the tongue whilst I was editing the video, but hey after a long days work these things happen. It wasn't crucial information so I let it slide. I do try to be 100% correct but mistakes happen.
On the Malaria front, I was advised by my doctor before I left rhe UK that Cambodia and infact, South East Asia as a whole posed a very low threat of Malaria. It was mainly Africa and South America I was told were the main danger areas for this. I was advised I didn't need any precautionary treatment so I followed the advice. I made it through fine so I can't complain!
Yes I am aware of the Vietnamese and the government trying to remove the $1 & $5 notes, still odd to be in a dual currency country hey? Maybe Bitcoin is the future for Cambodia!
The aim of this video is to give all the basic necessary information to anyone seeking to travel to Cambodia so they can hit the ground running and get exploring!
No it's not too harsh at all, it's good to have genuine feedback, I want to produce the best videos for my viewers so Thank you!
I headed to Australia after Cambodia to do a working holiday, that's just the local Coles in the Background! Innisfail - Queensland is the location!
Have a good day!
You must have felt the need instead of just watching the next video. You could've just moved right on by and not ruined it for everybody, Karen.
Wow! you laid it out correct.
@@cigar401 How did I "ruin it for everyone"? I just offered our experience. Justin wasn't offened, why are you?
@@beatn0 you're right. That commenter made assumptions and ended with a insult.
What a Class act😶🌫️
Is that what Ben Simmons be doing while not playing games?
How long do you recommend staying in Cambodia? This was so useful!?
I would reccomend at least 2 weeks to have enough time to see the country! 4 weeks is a really good amount of time! Makes things much more relaxed
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Can you easily pay with a card or is bringing cash a must?
Cash is a must! You can withdraw cash from ATM's though there are plenty in the cities
Arriving in Cambodia, did you have to show proof of insurance that covers covid?
Hey! Nope, didn't have to show any insurance for Cambodia, definitely reccomended to have though
Tell u everything u need to know
Angkor Wat was discovered by the West in 1860, around the time of the American Civil War.
so what?
@@beatn0 Cambodia was destroyed by climate change hundreds of years ago and the civil war during the 1970s. The US was also destroyed during its civil war. So it's going to take many years for any war-torn countries to recover. Most people from North America, Europe, and Australia don't realize that what happened to the Khmer Empire will happen to their own countries.
