I would say this video focus more on medium to high end travelers. $250 dollars for one hotel is crazy. I’ve just returned and 16 nights across the country cost me a total of £310. For 3/4* hotels. Nearly the same as one night in the hotel these guys stayed. Hospitality is essential in the Vietnamese culture, you don’t need to be excessive with hotels.

Well done 👍🏼 very thorough and honest video. I was in Vietnam back in 2008 for one month and traveled all over north to south also visiting Phou Quoc island before it had the international airport and wow it was amazing back then hardly any hotels. It looks like much has changed. My husband and I are traveling for 3 months in Vietnam this coming March and I’m excited to show him one of my favorite countries. This video helped him understand and know what to expect. Thank you!!❤

noooo i spent a month in Vietnam and Da Lat was one of my top 3 places... so sad you didn't love it. although i guess i had a different experience than most as we took a motorbike and scootered around the countryside of Da Lat which is really beautiful with green fields, and flowers and waterfalls and mountains and scenic view points and temples. The crazy house in the town was so cool, fulfilled my fantasy dream....there's tea plantations nearby too and lots of themed pretty places...there's even an alpine coaster which was super fun and a cable car above large pine forests....there's this sculpture park place....i could of spent a whole week there nooo aw sad to hear. But this video was awesome, lots of great tips and tricks.

I spent a month in Vietnam in 2011 and really loved it. I'm shocked to see how Phu Quoc is now as it was really underdeveloped when I went and was a really authentic experience. Everyone please heed their warnings about the motorbike bandits. I had my camera snatched out of my hands outside the Ben Thanh market in Saigon. Luckily I had downloaded all my pics a short time before it happened, so while I didn't lose everything, it did put a real damper on the end of my trip. That said, I never felt unsafe and the people were lovely. Just watch out for some petty theft, but that exists everywhere in the world.

Also, the 90-day visa w/ multiple entry is US$104. :) And a few rumors that VN 'may' create a retirement visa in the future. :) I'll be traveling there in September and staying for 1 to 3 months starting in Hanoi, to see if I want to retire there. Hope... Hope... Hope... :) Subscribed, great info.

    1) Is there easily accessible Clean toilets with bidets? (I feel stupid asking this question but I dont do well with public restroom unless they're clean 😬).

Great video guys! Thank you for the ton of useful information! We will be coming from South Africa and going to Ho Chi Minh City in December. Do you recommend buying a SIM card at the airport and using Grab to get to the hotel or should we just organise a transfer with the hotel (they charge 650000 VND which sounds like a lot)?

    • @VuLe-ck7fs
      @VuLe-ck7fs 6 місяців тому

You should buy Sim card at the airport, its not much expensive than outside. Then, you book the grab to the city around 6 or 7 usd. Get outside, across the internal street 1 minute, on your left side is grab station. Easy right?

    • @kevinlaiho8599

Have you considered Bali in Indonesia? It’s a much easier place to travel to as a solo traveler. So is Thailand. Vietnam is a lot harder because there’s more of a language barrier and everything is so foreign. With that being said though, lots of solo travelers travel there and they do just fine!😊

I learned a lot from your video for Vietnam. What about restrooms, is it free to use? I heard some places, u have to pay or buy toilet paper to use them?

Thank you . Very helpful. BTW, Ive heard that apart of English they speak French and Russian, so if you are a bit more intelligent and not too lazy and arogant to expect everyone to speak your English, you'll be fine

You are so mean. If any French or Russian, then it would be from the tourists and tour guides. English is the official language around the world.

I'm planning my first trip to Vietnam for the history, culture, and landscapes but as a solo white guy I'm pretty sure most people are just going to assume I'm a sex tourist :(

Honestly VN is still ok price, but what makes it cool is the lawlessness of it. Its a filthy place in general, and the tourist attractions are super underwhelming. Some food is decent, but I would say Bali food and Thai food is much better for tourists. As somewhere to live its great, for tourists its crap.

Be safe guys, get fully vaccinated. Vietnam has a significantly higher vaccination rate than South Africa. The pandemic is over, but it existed and did. I almost bought your travel information. Glad you're healthy, not everyone was.

My wife and I spent 3 or so days in Ho Chi Minh City, and it was by far the worst country we've ever been to and a huge contrast from Thailand and all over SE Asian countries. Every second of the day, we were scammed out of money everywhere we went. It is also a huge process for Americans to get visa's to get into the country. The airport officials scammed us out of a total of $140 USD. When leaving, the airport workers through VietJet stole more than $5K USD worth of watches out of my bag and my Valentino cologne set, which cost over $300 USD.

“Every second of the day we were scammed out of money everywhere we went”, really? If it goes to this extreme, can you please give us an example where you were scammed. How did the airport official scam you? Can you elaborate on that so we can avoid this mistake!

You are exaggerating. You wrote every second of the day, you were scammed???? Really every second??? Ask the price before you buy something or use services how can you get scam. Vietnam is surely not perfect place, there are petty crimes like steal, rob...but saying every second you get scam is extremely beyond the truth.

I wish you didn't say there's no such thing as COVID any more. It's very much untrue and if people believed that they would be more irresponsible with protecting others and themselves with simple hygiene and precaution.
