Showing them doing what every food facility does (washing hands and disinfecting) makes me wonder if this is not just a show??? Why else focus on it? Come on this is a given!!! And nothing to do with them making meals!!!!!!
The rest of the world has so much to learn from Japan. I'm European and have distinct memories of the foods we were served in school growing up and it doesn't even come close to this. It was more common than not to discover bugs, dirt, rocks, even glass in our food. Even the preparation was lacking. I remember being served food such as hamburger steaks that were burnt on one side, raw and frozen on the other side and just right in the middle (they'd just line them up on a tray and cook them in an oven without flipping them even once to make sure they were evenly cooked). I now live in Japan and am pregnant with my first child. It makes me glad to see that this is the kind of effort and care that is being put into the food that my daughter will one day be eating in school. Thank you so much for your hard work.🙏
I guess... I work for a school district that serves about the same amount of students and we accomplish what the Japanese do with about a 1/10th of the space and staff. The Japanese can be WILDLY inefficient.
6:20 I cried, it's great that the teachers ask the students to write letters... They reminded them that there's so much effort put behind their delicious and healthy food, and they need to be grateful and respect the cook
It's so lovely to see such clean working practices! I come from a long family line of cooks, cleanilness when working to feed a lot of people is so important.
Fantastic job from everyone 👏 you can see that the employees take pride in their job and want everything to be perfect for the children 🥰 I'm very impressed with the effort that goes into keeping everything clean 😘
This shows the priority of the government in Japan. The US government would rather allow children to starve at school to punish their parents for being poor. And the food they serve is slop, filled with preservatives and sodium. Michele Obama tried, but the states are constant fighting to overturn the nutrition regulations in the name of profit.
LOL, no one is making a profit here, man, you are talking out of your ass. Everything you said was wrong. I say this as an employee of a public school district for the last 20 years. You don't know anything.
You left the part out where prisoners are fed higher quality food than children in public schools. My favorite part was the kitchen staff being entirely illegal aliens that did not speak English.
I grew up in Japan and this lunch here is rather simple. I guess my public school was funded well, but we usually had two more small dishes on top of these, with a calendar that lists the dishes that were planned to be served every single day of the month, with nutritional facts and educational facts about eating healthy. Kids look forward to lunch each day so they look at the calendar a lot, which helped normalize the concept of healthy eating habits. I moved to North America as an adult and learned how amazing that was.
I love how much respect these people have for the children and in a way their job. I love how clean the food is and how it's prepared. Here in India 🇮🇳, I see street vendors and get nauseous just by looking at how it's prepared and servered. Watching lots of Japanese street food made me realise poverty is not an excuse for poor hygiene. Hats off to you guys.
I live in a developing country and like in Japan I wish work here was done properly, thoroughly, attentively and everyone following precedure and caring about each other. Greetings from the UK.
I watch lovely videos like this on UA-cam to relax before sleep. I was busy this evening and a bit late so now it's 11:14 pm, but I am so hungry looking at these delicious dishes. Sigh. 😊
It's so sad to know America falls so far behind Japan in this aspect, our school lunches are terrible!!! Ask any student and they will say the same thing.
American school lunches are health concerns. Some of the food on the menu is questionable. Then, kids cross the road for burger joints and soda bars. It's no mystery to why diabetes and other health problems plague our population 🤔 I can understand once in a blue moon, but weekly for some, daily for the majority? Yikes.
I think the politicians should do something to solve this problem. We can learn about cultural diversity if we serve traditional dishes of each ethnic group with inexpensive and nutritious foods. I think food can be a catalyst for solving problems in various countries.
Japanese students have no idea or maybe they do on how lucky they are to get meals like this. In the United States not everyone adheres to a cleanliness goal which is very disappointing. People who dislike their job will do jobs poorly as well as if the job’s pay isn’t good. The amount of cleanliness and care that goes into these lunches is amazing and shocking. I only wish the younger me got to experience this. Now our meals weren’t bad but there is definitely room for improvement.
I loved it when they lady mentioned that they couldn't hear the kids or get a thank you. Made me think back to all my wonderful "lunch ladies" over the years in school. And then she says the students write them letters and that made me so happy, haha. That's so nice to see!
The meal they prepared looked very delicious and nutritious they put a lot of care in making it and the cleanliness is spectacular America should really take notes and strive to provide school lunches like this here instead of all that processed foods and low quality
That looks soooo yummy. I´m glad that I was in a german school were nuns prepared the lunch and we got at most days: Soup, Main Dish and a Dessert - only on Fridays we got some sweet main course so there was no Dessert. It was sooo delicious and I feel so bad for other students - it was really a cultureshock when I graduated and needed to eat in a common Mensa afterwards. It broke a bit my heart when i was surfing the internet and saw that my old school had no longer a "Klosterküche" (monastery kitchen) as I remembered all my favorite dishes during the years. Good food is so important for growing up healthy and motivation. Thank you for your important job
The amount of onion they put in that beef dish was nuts. I remember getting a Japanese curry roux, and the recipe said to use like 2 or 3 big onions, i cut it down to 1/2 of an onion and is just right. The Japanese obviously like their onions. Everything looked great thou, a million times better than the shite they served up in my English school back in the 1970's.
It is like they are making food for the Emperor. I remember getting food in the 80's from our school canteen and some of the staff would be smoking cigarettes.
Lunch ladies,Janitors, and Teachers in my opinion don’t get enough credit here in the U.S. They work so hard. I wonder how the Japanese feel about lunch ladies, janitors . Then again the children to my understanding help keep the school clean 🤔 I’m also pretty sure they respect teachers…. 🤔 And wow that is super clean. Growing up our lunch ladies washed their hands and wore hair nets that’s it 😅 But I still loved them they were very kind ❤ I have question what happens if a child’s family afford to pay for their child’s lunch? And let’s groceries at home as well….
in american students basically eat like prisoners, while in Japan, the food is freshly prepared with respect, and students can feel that respect when they take each bite, its the little things that count which can impact a whole lot therefore students are more likely to study harder!
Public schools in the United States go with what's the cheapest, while only a few have good food. Growing up, my schools all had the same bad tasting fish patty, with equally bad tartar sauce, terrible tasting Salisbury steak, and the only good tasking food was a flat rectangular pizza.
I love that there is about zero chance of getting a hair or bug in your food. However it has been proven that being too sanitary is causing a lot more allergies in children, and weaker immune systems.
The whole "But think of the children!!" has got to be the biggest lie ever. Can't even pass a universal free school meal program without politicians vetoing it down lmao.
Showing them doing what every food facility does makes me wonder if this is not just a show??? Come on this is a given!!! And nothing to do with them making meals!!!!!!

Amazing cleanliness! As a parent you can only wish your child receives such nutritious and well prepared school lunches!

Their being filmed. Of course they are going to appear clean.
Your students are very blessed to have you as their cooks! Efficient, fast, and happy, too! My Mother would say the joy gets into the food.
Kudos to the workers who are so dedicated in making sure they make very clean healthy food for the students!👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You should proud of MacDonald dude 😂😂😂

Amazing. Those people really care about the kids. It was heart warming to see.
It's so lovely to see such clean working practices! I come from a long family line of cooks, cleanilness when working to feed a lot of people is so important.
This right here is a reason i have great respect for the Japanese people and culture, its all about doing it right and efficiently.
Fantastic job from everyone 👏 you can see that the employees take pride in their job and want everything to be perfect for the children 🥰 I'm very impressed with the effort that goes into keeping everything clean 😘
this is so clean.. and the food looks delicious also
True to Japanese form, very clean and efficient. Very impressive.

My hats off to those ladies hard work.
Japanese students are fortunate to eat such wonderful meals. In America school lunches consist of pizza, hamburgers and macaroni and cheese.
Spent the whole video thinking back on how trash our school food was growing up.
😁. . how about in Africa?
You left the part out where prisoners are fed higher quality food than children in public schools.
My favorite part was the kitchen staff being entirely illegal aliens that did not speak English.
Mac&cheese are the best…. With bacon… 🥓

I love a Brit with a good sense of humo(u)r. Cheers from across the pond. I too now live in a developing country.
Their work ethics and dedication to kids are so respectable.

Wow! Never seen such clean food prep
Yeah! And I'm sure it has NOTHING to do with all the cameras pointed at them!
It's so sad to know America falls so far behind Japan in this aspect, our school lunches are terrible!!! Ask any student and they will say the same thing.
You'll eat it and like it.. OR go hungry.. 😠
I wonder if American kids would even touch any of that. "Oh, stinky green vegetables!" I LOVED asparagus as a kid, just lightly cooked and seasoned.

Very good keep doing this kind of work... All countries should learn something from this.
Very nice. Impressive. 👍🏻
Getting ready to make school lunches in Japan is like prepping for surgery, or getting ready to enter the clean room of a CPU fab. Holy cow!
Very neat!
Asparagus for school lunches 😋 ❤❤❤
If this is the case for most Japanese schools then America has a lot to learn... this is like night and day...
If they buy in bulk and not waste stuff, they end up SAVING money. No prepackaged instant potatoes or other junk.
Very impressed
It is like they are making food for the Emperor. I remember getting food in the 80's from our school canteen and some of the staff would be smoking cigarettes.
Bravo! 👏🏾

👀 Children in school eat asparagus for lunch?
They keep the food safe.
That place is more sterile than some of the medical facilities here. 😂
these vegetables are taken better care by chefs than me by the country was I was born in 😁

i'm hungry just watch this 😅
This is fantastic and how do you deal/prepare food for children that have nut allergies/gluten intolerance etc. interested to know 😊
It depends on place but in my case we had another food for such students🫶🏻
teachers ask every parent that their children have allergies or not before entering school and tell the information to the school lunch center.
Lunch ladies,Janitors, and Teachers in my opinion don’t get enough credit here in the U.S.

Sugoi!!!❤❤❤
Amazing!!in Greece we don't even have school lunches provided by the government...😂The government doesn't care about anything but their own pocket...

Actually, prisoners eat a lot better than school kids

Public schools in the United States go with what's the cheapest, while only a few have good food. Growing up, my schools all had the same bad tasting fish patty, with equally bad tartar sauce, terrible tasting Salisbury steak, and the only good tasking food was a flat rectangular pizza.

This program puts the North American program to absolute shame!!
The whole "But think of the children!!" has got to be the biggest lie ever. Can't even pass a universal free school meal program without politicians vetoing it down lmao.
This by definition the opposite to indian street food. 😂😂😂
Have you looked into Philippines street food PotPot? It's recooked scraps of food out of trash cans. Worse is China's gutter oil.
I wonder how Japanese immunity is?
Beautiful healthy food. Superior to the stuff the Western children or adults for that matter, eat ! This is my type of food.
Sad that Japan has a low birthday rate problem.
