Goes to show that no matter the size of a kitchen, everything can run smoothly and with standards. Props to all of the hard workers, and passionate chefs working there!
I mean isn't the problem usually that kitchens too small start struggling due to not having space to work with? They had enormous amounts of space for bowls, plates and just generally everywhere they worked had space to spare.
@@MINIMAN10000 People who don't work in industrial food manufacture have little concept of processing space your correct the amount of space you need to process chain a production line effectively is a lot more than everyone thinks its not like your home kitchen.
As someone who's worked in a few kitchens; usually, when you go for a scale like this, everything works like clockwork. You have enough personnel and the kind of equipment you need to do this right... or you don't do it at all because just one person in the line of production falling 'off' can just stop EVERYTHING. You have your job, you know what you're going to do, you know where everything is and you just... 'zen' your way through the day. It's hard, it's exhausting, it's painful but it's also calming in its own way.

I don't know why I always choke up at this video. Maybe it's that these food workers are doing such a good job to provide healthy, appealing food in a fastidious way to miners who must be working under challenging conditions in a remote, and isolated area (and during a pandemic, to boot). It's almost reverent. Every square of cake gets a little rosette...and a little chocolate decoration. It's not necessary, but it says, "Everybody deserves something pretty -'even if it's just a little square of cake - because everybody needs to know that they matter..." 💗🍰
Exactly!!! Imagine how those miners feel probably excited to get up in the morning they probably feel like they’re hard work is appreciated I know a lot of companies all over the world should take notes this is how you keep people you treat them right and watch how hard they work for you it benefits everyone
Quality food, better than many private restaurants. Employee treated with respect will exercise their full potential. Everyone wins!! Congratulations, respect, from São Paulo, Brazil.
That’s crazy but the quality is much better then even places like Applebees and Olive Garden and almost every privately owned restaurant in the town I live In
the variety of food served is impressive, but then add in the quality, cleanliness, and dedication demonstrated by these Chefs is awe inspiring. truly a thing of beauty.
Are you just really stupid or do you lack the knowledge to understand something before commenting? The video is made by a Mongolian journalist, in a Mongolian mine with Mongolian miners, this is not Chinese propaganda. It would actually be the contrary if this was propaganda (which it isn’t). Mongolia doesn’t have favourable relations with China, there would be no need to give pro Chinese propaganda,
I worked at this mine when it was in exploration and engineering phase 15 years ago. Wow it’s changed. It just used to be a few hundred gers (yurts) and a small complex of portable buildings. The french chefs we had used to make two sets of meals - one for expats like me and one for the Mongolians. Different tastes but you could try and eat as much if and whatever you wanted. It’s so remote out there you become like family with your coworkers - Mongolians and others from around the world. They are a great and hard working people. Glad to see it thriving now.
Huge respect from the UK. I work in the UKs biggest safety standards org and this food made my mouth water, looks to be of a high standard and most importantly clean. I hope the workers are happy and I wish them well.
I used to work in the food profession, this is the ultimate in quality and cleanliness, the food looks wholesome and delicious. No wonder all the workers are happy and stay with their work. My highest compliments!😍❤️😃
Not only are they preparing fresh, nutritious food for them to eat while working, they also prepare food for them to take at the end of the day for a hot meal at home. This is how a company should take care of their employees!! I love how clean and organized everything is, as well as running smoothly. First, the fact you didn't take away from the fact this place offers options meaning its likely up to the person if they feel like eating healthier or not, they clearly made a fruit salad as one of the breakfast options, if that isn't healthy to you, you need help. Secondly, fried food isn't inherently unhealthy, its a case of moderation. These guys probably eat a fairly balanced diet all things considered with a fair variety of foods and with options available, fried food a couple of times a week isn't going to affect your health, especially when its not even fried in oil and there was clearly a stew being made at one point as an option. Even more so when most of these dishes are served with more veg than most Westerners eat in a month. Additionally part way through it clearly says they try to mix things up by treating them to different styles of cuisine such as Mexican and American.
It's not 6000 people at a time. I think they said they have workers on 3 8-hour shifts to run the mine 24 hours a day. So they are serving 2000 at a time.
I've worked in the food service industry in the past ... as well as in 'institutional kitchen' settings and I'm in awe of how immaculate the kitchen and dining area looks. I've always loved the Asian cultures for this sort of respect in their various works.
I have worked in a medical school and saw the decline of the food quality over the years. From house baked goods to stuff airlines would laugh at. This should be an eye opener for them.
@richardfallon5507 You got that right. The irony for our hospital is preaching healthy eating, then serving meals prepared in a central kitchen that a dog would bury. I guess fasting is healthy. Alternatives that staff and visitors flock to are the pizza and sandwich vendors. Kinda a racket.
@pantsmonsterv6 True. But compared to other cultures, in general, they tend to be much more disciplined and cleaner 'bro.' I'd goto China first before I went to, say, Haiti or any other primarily black country.
THEY EVEN DO A BARBECUE! that’s absolutely amazing what this company does for their workers. Big respect to the kitchen staff and bon Appetit to the miners!
Its actually MORE profitable to the mining company to take care of their miners very well. If they are well fed and with proper nutrition, they will get sick less, be happier and work harder, making the company more money. Its just sad a lot of companies just see the $$ going out the door to properly take care of their employees and cant see the $$$$ coming back in it would make so they don't bother.
Agree. A business that big luckily has the funds to invest in quality machinery, staff and food. Good on them for actually doing it. Mining sites can also be pretty remote without any other choices of food, to attract good workers you need to provide a good working environment.
@@alexrompen805 Same with companies that will pinch pennies against employees only to have high turn-over, when replacing employees can cost significant amounts of money in extra labour and lost productivity. Is Oyu Tolgoi mine being for copper and gold part of it (higher value extracts)? Also, does the international presence at Oyu Tolgoi benefit the food quality?
I worked as a nurse in several US hospitals and their cafeterias were not nearly this clean, efficient nor the food as appetizing as this! We can learn a thing or 2 from Mongolia!
right? Like this is something I didn't even know we needed. Like we work 8-10 hours a day in America, least they can do is feed us. Take that 30 minutes of time they take off for my lunch for at least a fucking sandwich.
This is exactly what we call respecting humans' dignity . It's all about perfection and the respect of your work. They are doing it with love, and we can see the results
The fact that they label the foods from healthy to not as healthy is incredible. Allowing for the workers to manage their diet so they can keep doing their best. These people are amazing
I think it's for allergen and religion-adherence purposes mostly, since they mention specific things (eg. pork, lamb, potato) rather than rating on a health scale. But it's still considerate!
As an American this education fascinates me! On the one hand, the efficient and unhurried production of the sheer volume of food in a timely manner is astounding! But my surprise is the cleanliness, health, obvious well being of these miners, both male and female! I'm overjoyed! If anyone would care to correspond with me as to this story I would be so indebted (not for publication ~ just for my knowledge). You see, for those of faraway lands, in America, we see coal mining in terms of coal with poverty and disease. I would so love a response!
It’s good to see a company offering good food to its employees, and to see the kitchen staff go the extra step of adding little embellishments to make things pretty, too. Those little details matter. One of the greatest joys of this video, however, was getting to see the faces of the people as they ate.
Wow, what a class act. Everyone pulling together to feed the workers. I love how the people preparing the food all have their own uniforms and all the attention to detail they observe. Very professional. They are a model for other companies.
So glad I watched it. This is by far the best kitchen I've ever seen in my life at this size. The hygiene level is superb from the dining tables, floors, staff, and their uniforms to cooking equipment. The whole setup is very well thought-through and most definitely the operation takes great human power and money which surely only gold mines and such can afford. Well-done Mongolians.

As a retired chef I was very happy to see the high level of work done by the kitchen staff. I wish that the products were identified. Kodos to all involved and now I am hungry. I did notice that all the plates I saw when miners were done eating were clean plates, that's a sure indicator of good food. When I cooked for large groups for days or weeks, I always monitored the trash cans to see if there was anything they didn't like. Seeing the clean plates was always satisfying.

Very organized and clean. Not a chaotic mess in which some kitchens would find themselves. It's stunningly obvious these kitchen staff take a lot of pride in their work. And the food is top quality.
I want to actually eat here. It looks delicious.
Because they are mongolians...
did u check or taste the food ?
I am so impressed with the variety, the quality, and the cleanliness our the dining facility. The Miners certainly are well taken care of food-wise. It's great to see a company take care of it's employees that way. Grilling out for 6000 individuals with 5-6 different meats, that's incredible. Well Done.
That´s an impressive operation. Everything looks so clean and the ingredients so fresh. Food looks really good, employees must be happy. Amazing work by all the staff.
Hairnets, arm coverings, masks! Super sanitary!!!
@@alanc7772 I also like how every customer wear plastic gloves while collecting the food. Mongolia took Covid really serious from the very start and managed to stay at zero cases for an impressive time.
But what I like the most is how even at those huge quantities the cooking still looks done lovely. I used to work in a much smaller canteen as a holiday job and the cooking and handling wasn't done nearly with such respect. Also, knowing many of those dishes from 1st hand experience I'm getting a severe case of cravings over here :)
They get high wages too. Heck with it my School secretary has a brother who works in the mining corp translater and makes more money then him.

@@Walker-ow7vj yeah if I run a mine one thing I can supply is good healthy food to keep my people running at peak performance for longer. Also jobs to the kitchen staff that help my community a double whammy.
@CHILΣΠO , it's way more efficient for a company to provide both food and facilities than for the people to bring in their own food and waste packaging to eat at their own speed on the job or elsewhere. All the food waste and packaging trash is centered in one area too. The time savings is important when there are work shifts that have to be transported all at once from the mines and back to the mines. When people eat together in the cafeteria restaurant as a cohort, fewer transportation trips need to be made and people don't need to wait around for stragglers to fill the transport.
Everything looked fresh, clean and tasty. The staff at this kitchen can sure feel proud, their work is perfection.

As an Australian who had the privilege of working in Mongolia, it’s great to see such high quality & tasty food being prepared. The Mongolian people are extremely talented & hard working individuals who are immensely proud of their culturally rich nation.
Oil-soaked, deep-fried, smothered in sugar, boiled meat, Kraft-singles cheese... none of those things equals "high quality".

It would make sense. This seems to be in the middle of the desert, so the workers probably stay on site for long stretches of time, and I don't know if there are any shops around. That's my impression, at least.

Good to see a company that realizes the profound impact good food has on loyalty and morale. There are two companies I worked for in the past that although very hard work that was not necessarily the most glamouras jobs, I stuck around because we were rewarded with good food
Yeah, happy workers are good workers.
Most companies aren't willing to 'risk' that investment which is unfortunate
Your silly mate, you can get "good food" when your at home and you can get whatever type of food you like,
Food should have nothing to do with your job fella because it doesn't have anything to do with your work, unless you sit there taste testing food
You stuck around because you was "rewarded" with good food? So they gave you food for free? Or did you have to pay for it, if your paying for it, its not really a reward is it, its just normal human functions lol,
@@DigBick1337- You prob do not know it yet, but a good work place is not a "common" place to get to. A good cafetaria for example is like a great work perk. And i understand @sky for saying this. You do not understand that miners are a low skilled job. These people do not have a lot of options, so getting this job (hard, long hours, even dangerous) and it having some good perks is a bonus.
I get the feeling that you do not have a lot of work experience yet, or that you live in a high society bubble where work perks like this are normal. Believe me..they are not. Think about this before you trample all over somebody else his view on work...sometimes people have to do jobs they do not like, but have to...or do you think all those thousands of people there wake up every day and scream "I WANT TO BE A MINER"
@@DigBick1337- at home? You think they have time to go to home for a lunch? You think they have time to make similar food if they live alone? ... food has nothing to do with work? Wow, that is amazing. Cooking at that high of a volume takes loads of coordination and planning and they do it seamlessly. To decorate individual pieces of cake is proof of the dedication and pride they put into their work. They are working very quietly, they aren’t having conversations with each other which seemed odd, but it’s entirely possible that they were quiet this day due to the filming and normally they do chat with each other.

It would probably also be relatively time consuming to build a factory far away and then ship the pre-made food over there... Why not just build the "food factory" where it's needed anyway?!
