I know this much amongst other musicians hes definitely one of the top calls but yes amongst the kids of today they have no fucking clue who this guy is. They're too busy watching gospel chop videos and cranking their snare drums tight as a bottom of a coffee can.
@@castlefranck3979 They're two totally different levels of drumming. Ray is a hard drummer, but Mario is straight metal, double bass drumming. Kind of pointless comparison.
David was my favourite drummer growing up. Had his posters on my wall and knew his set up off by heart. As time went on all the injuries and all the rockstar drama really affected his playing and he just seemed uninterested. Then he left and I desperately wanted to see him come back. Then I saw Korn 3 video concert in the field with this new guy (Ray). He was so different but damn he was good. Over the years I have been blown away by how he has helped invigorate Korn and help them put out some of their best albums since follow the leader. Have seen him live and he is amazing. Hands down my favourite drummer!
Without a doubt! I was always kinda doubtful of his work with Korn up until Serenity of Suffering, where he did a great job. But on The Nothing, I think he nailed every song perfectly and got to really show off what he could do in terms of speed and heaviness. I stopped thinking of David Silveria after The Nothing, though David will be missed for his grooves.
I met Ray in San Diego CA years ago. Army of Anyone played at the House of Blues SD and I bought tickets for my dad and i but i found out the show was 18 and up and i was only 17..we ate dinner in the house of Blues before the show and i was bumming that i wasnt going to be able to get in I saw the band eating next to us and I said hello to Ray told him what they said he was bummed for me. So I try to get in without getting carded and it worked and Ray was by over by the bar with a few security guys and he saw he said to me "DUUUDE YOU GOT IN YESSS AND GAVE ME A BIG HUG" was really cool. What a great show that was too.
That's awesome! I'd love to meet Ray. He's my all time favorite drummer. My only complaint is he does post videos enough. Lol when he does post it's like Christmas.
Ray is the perfect rock drummer. His orchestration is wonderful. Every little nuance in the riff, or melody line is matched with his drums. The hi hat work is always fantastic. Maaaaan.
One of my favorite drummers & Ray has had a huge influence on my playing & teaching. I’ve turned a lot of my students on to Ray, Korn, KXM, Army of Anyone, etc. I could listen to him play for days on end!
RAY!! You are an amazing human. My favorite part of watching you play is seeing how much fun you have doing it! You use every inch of your drum set and I smile with you as you play every cymbal. I am currently using you as a role model to my son while he learns drums. Thank you for being awesome and know that you are an example for the next generation of drummers
I know you’ve heard it before but it was hard to except a new drummer in the band years ago. Over the years seeing/listening/having interactions with you at concerts I have to say thank you! Hands-down you’re my favorite Korn drummer. No slack on anybody you’re just my favorite!
Ray...saw you first play in Reading about 6 years ago. I wasn’t familiar with your playing but you got the whole package man. Showman, chops, creativity. Follower ever since.
Ray, you have added your own spice to Korn since joining and writing music with them...Korn's sound has expanded with your precision and percussion skills!
Everyone these days are talking about Jay Weinberg and Joey Jordinson (R.I.P) and rightfullly so, but I think Ray is one of the most underrated drummers in a long time.
Honestly love his films he so technically gifted really took korn further I think some may not agree but I feel he was deffo the right choice and Korn were lucky to have him join their band
between the dynamics, the unexpected and the versatility, just WOW! The NOTHING seems to me like the first KoRn offering where Ray was really able to let loose and seems like was more involved in either the writing of the songs or given more creative freedoms. Just Brilliant and Energetic drumming! Love it.
Ray ..is such a good man in person and genius at what he does as a drummer..i rank him up there with the greats ...not taking from David...loved david also ..but what a major step up with Ray...blows my mind how good and professional Ray really is ..
Absolutely F***ing brilliant! Been a fan of yours for years and you are so groovy, creative, great chops, musical and all the superlatives I could add... Been getting into Korn in last year as known about them but kinda progressed into other areas. Thanks a lot. Miss gigs so much so hope we get them back asap. :)
Hey man. Amazing video. Such an inspiration watching you play from one drummer to another. Keep up the amazing work. You have such a gift playing. You just make it sound so amazing and you have definitely you own unique sound 😊😊😊😊.
i saw you guys play on february 29th of last year and it was my first concert and honestly would love to re live that day i had a blast. though while i was waiting in line feildy was banging on the window and i didn’t turn around because i thought it was a child-
Ray is probaly one of the biggest underrated drummers of the modern era.
Honestly. Him and Morgan Rose are two amazing drummers.
I know this much amongst other musicians hes definitely one of the top calls but yes amongst the kids of today they have no fucking clue who this guy is. They're too busy watching gospel chop videos and cranking their snare drums tight as a bottom of a coffee can.
Good drummer for sure but I'm not empress that much if i compare to Mario Duplantier from Gojira
@@castlefranck3979 They're two totally different levels of drumming. Ray is a hard drummer, but Mario is straight metal, double bass drumming. Kind of pointless comparison.
ehm, in which way is he underrated lol :D

Feel the same way!
Ray totally kicks ass in the The Nothing, I thinks it has his best drumming in terms of Korn records
Without a doubt! I was always kinda doubtful of his work with Korn up until Serenity of Suffering, where he did a great job. Hell yeah, brother! 🤘🏽

The heartbeat of KoRn... Thank you, Ray! Cheers!

One of my favorite drummers & Ray has had a huge influence on my playing & teaching. I’ve turned a lot of my students on to Ray, Korn, KXM, Army of Anyone, etc. I could listen to him play for days on end!

they played blastbeat in Blind live many times. With Joey Jordison and later with Ray too, like 10 year ago.
