@@mikemendoza5421have you ever pulled your wrap off after a year or so to check? Curious because I’ve been knocking out dings and dents on my car trying to get ready for wrap just hitting it with some primer after each spot is fixed
@GrullaMustang16 paint isn't purely for looks, it stops Bare metal from rusting. Vinyl kinda stops metal from rusting but paint is orders of magnitude more effective so its always good to make sure any Bare metal gets etching primer at the Bare minimum. Realistically, primer, topcoat and clear coat will last the longest and be the most durable but clearly we are looking for a more budget option so in this case primer would be ideal.
It is though, wrapping a vehicle protects the original paint if it is in good condition. If it isn’t you’re able to sand down to the primer for no imperfections when you do wrap it. And in cases of older cars that have metal panels a wrap will protect those metal panels from rust as long as no moisture can get to the body itself.
If you sand it down to bare metal, you need to use etch primer so it wouldnt rust
Primer is pourous so it would still rust, needs paint to be water resistant.
@@KK001 obviously yeah... Primer, paint then top coat
I wrap over bare metal all the time and haven’t had any issues
Or epoxy primer.

Okay. But what about the dents? 😂
bondo+primer but you gotta wait some time before wrapping over it to make sure it sticks and wont peel up
Fix them obviously 🙄
Bondo
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
As a car painter I would at least recommend spraying some self etching primer on there
Agreed
I don't know anything.
What is that stuff and what would it do?
@@GrullaMustang16adheres to bare metal etc. Aerosol can, or most ppl use that anyhow
@@professordrmao6321 so how would that help putting it on before a wrap?

THANKS, I’m about to tackle the same problem on y car next week, AWESOME
100% i encourage you to wrap your car. Its worth it.
This is the reason why you need to be extra careful when buying a wrapped car.
You dont want to find out the hard way 😂😂
Only have to do that every 1-2 years 😅
Interesting. If there's no structural damage it looks perfect.
Thx
I thought wrap doesn’t stick unless you put primer after sanding.
I’m not sure what’s worst my car looking like it has some flaky paint or a blue car with gold wrap and only doing one small spot
A shop* you have to pai t the while thing and fix little dent. That would cost you 3k
Bro the car gonna be full of patches
Where can I buy wrap for my truck I have a 3014 ram 1500 regular cab short bed I’d like to wrap in a red or hemi purple
auravinyl.com
Bro the way he sanded that was super cringe, just do it by hand it is such a small spot
What vinyl company did u use
Ours, auravinyl.com
Is there a way to fill scratches before wrapping without sanding down
You could try buffing and polishing
That likely won’t work as it’s not abrasive enough.
Sweet you just proved a wrap isn’t for every vehicle.

Lmao do you think bodyshops just paint over bad paint?
Wow but how much for a roll of rap ?🧐
Better off getting it painted
Maybe spend the money to repaint the car instrad of wrap
So just paint it
Do not do this.
Wow that is nice does it ruin the paint ?
A: very least spray some Krylon to seal
B: keep sanding paint the dam car fuck a wrap
With the prices of those wraps from 2-4000 and having to change it every few years its better to just paint the car.
Get ppf wrap which last around a decade is stronger than vinyl and easier to apply
Just wrap over bare metal huh? Man just paint your car guys and get ppf if your that anal about your paint job
Awful scam shit
