CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Billy (Sonny Landham) stays to fight the predator while Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) tries to get to the chopper.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has a code of honor which he will not violate, even when his life depends on it. Paradoxically, his code of honor gives him the backbone to survive as a military special forces operative when he is sent on a covert mission to rescue another group which was sent in to assist some nefarious U.S. government plan in a Latin American country. Once there, he encounters an old army buddy (Carl Weathers) who has gotten too deep in the CIA's good graces for Dutch's comfort. When he and his team go into the jungle to rescue the others, they get involved in a pitched battle with local guerillas, but they are more than capable of besting these vicious fighters. However, not long after that, they encounter signs that the equally capable men they were sent to rescue were all killed unawares and in an unusually gruesome fashion. Given their training, it should have been impossible for anyone to best all of these commando warriors. Soon, the men from Dutch's own team get picked off one by one, as they grow aware that they are up against something uncanny, not of this world, something that is hunting them for sport. Why? Because their skills make them worthy opponents for the perfectly camouflaged Predator. This carefully paced action movie was given poor reviews by many movie critics, but was sufficiently satisfying for its (largely male) audiences that a successful sequel (Predator 2) was released in 1990.

Just read ur comment I said the same thing amazing perception
He took billy's skull appart from the others in his collection for a reason .
Not only because he was brave and a "fair" warrior (they were all like this in their way) but also because he knew Billy was the only one who can "smell" him since the beginning of the hunt . Billy looked at him for a long moment before Hawkins death , Predator notice this as an incredible instinct of perception for sure .
Yeah he took his skull for sure. Took him out with his wristblades, likely drove them into his chest where Billy provoked it, lifted him into the air and that would likely be the scream we all heard in the film.
@@TheRedRaven_ 💯
Oh yea there's no way he doesn't take a trophy from Billy.
The only one to truly appreciate what was happening, and probably would have been last on the kill list out of respect, if he hadn't directly challenged first.
Uhhhh. You realize this is all make-believe..?
@@Ac22768 No way, I thought this was real found footage
1:35 that scream you hear is when billy just realised how painful it was when he slashed his chest.
Or it was the Predator reaching into his pocket and threw some salt on his chest wound, which really killed poor Billy.

Billy making his stand is still one of the most badass moments in cinema in the last 40 years.
It was great..for the 5 sec it lasted before he started screaming like an actress in a B horror movie.
Maybe for people which glorify actors and watching a movie like a real event.
Good movie because of idea, location, but it could've been better without scenes like this one or ones with stupid humour.
Cool thing about it is, we all just have to imagine what happened when the Predator took him down.
So good, they ripped it off nearly beat for beat in Predators
It's good but can't beat the Russian roulette scene in THE DEER HUNTER.
What I love about this is that when Dutch tells Billy character to come, he just waits about 3 seconds, understands and leaves. There's no back and forth like it would happen in today movies. "Its something i must do - no, we must stick together - go, save yourselves ill buy time" instead its a silent dialogue between 2 characters who've shared though situations before, and a quick and mutual understanding of what is required of each of them.
Late I know. Dutch knows why Billy is staying, Dutch is coming to terms with it. Afterall Dutch has lost most of his unit at this point. Its important to see Dutch Express his concerns about losing another squad mate
@@fallout0624 he had a women and a wounded dude with him. There was no time or they all could have died. I

Nowadays, they’d kill the tension of the scene with some silly exposition or marvel movie jokey joke.
I’m Apache and when I was a kid I always found Billie to be my favorite character in the movie besides Dutch. It was so cool to see a strong willed Native American warrior who knew it would be his last battle take a stand and not back down.

I imagine what was the predator thinking when he first saw Billy just standing there and holding nothing but a knife in his hand at 1:26
"Now THAT'S a guy who's skull I definitely need to add in my trophy collection"
"You have my respect, I hope they remember you"
He probably thought "Now this is a true warrior with Honor. I comend you"
The real question is, did the Predator declock when it faced him out of respect for his final stand?
Being a Native American Indian he preferred to do it that way you know exactly what he was looking at he knew the outcome

@@NomnomJawsnomnom Actually not far from the truth. There was a version where another Predator showed up, killed the original predator and hunted in its place.

What makes this so scary is that they kept moving when they heard Dillon's death cry but stopped in their tracks at Billy's death cry. Dillon's death cry came as a comfort because of how far away it was. It was proof that they had successfully put a lot of distance between themselves and the Predator and might even be able to lose him. When they heard Billy's death cry only minutes later their illusions were shattered and they realized how quickly the Predator had caught up to them and how utterly pointless it was to flee.

By far, one of the best directed scene of the film, both written and choreographed. The trembling of Poncho's arm holding the rifle towards a tiny throughway beyond the bushes, the head shot from the predator taking him out, and most notably, the screaming "Noooooooooooo!!!" from Dutch immediately followed by him kicking the weapon from Anna's hand, then transitioning right into a badass angle of him firing that A2/203 into the camera. Dont think its a coincidence that of the two people who stood their ground and challenged the Predator to a fight to the death was a Native American and a Japanese Yakuza. Both men come from cultures that are similar to the Yuatja in terms of being a warrior and fighting and dying with honor.
+Hazard Strong MOLOTOV SALAD!!! CHEESE SMELLS SWEET!!! SHE GOT EVERYTHING!!! THE FUCKIN CHINESE!!!!
+StuUngar Don't forget King Willy in Predators 2
You are correct friend our cultures in that sense are very much alike.
+Once A Marine Mack and Dillon definitely had some balls in going after the Predator but there is a difference between them and Billy/Japanese guy. Dillon and Mack were trying to flush out the Predator and them were planning to unload on him.
Billy and Yakuza took out a blade, stood out in the open and figuratively said, "Bring it on motherfucker. One of us is dying right here."
We dont see Billy's death, but I'm pretty sure the Predator uncloaked himself, stood in front of Billy and they had a battle which saw Billy dying very quickly in a similar manner to Dillion with the arm spikes.
Arnie faced him too. He said, "We make a stand NOW...o' theh be nobody leff to go to da choppah..." So basically, we went from 2 guys standing up to Predator to about 8, including stupid King Willy.
0:51 now that's a knoife
Lol watch the recent video Arnold made congratulating Sylvester on the new Rambo movie.
Timur the Lamest what did he say?
more like a shortsword
As a fellow hunter and tracker, Billy was just curious to see exactly what's hunting them. He's one of the few who possessed the skills to outwit The Predator.
RIP Sonny Landham, may you get to the choppa and meet the sexual tyrannosaurus in heaven
This made me sad asf :(
His laughter will echo throughout all time

When testosterone was normal in mans body...
Are you assuming my gender? How dare you?
It's funny because testosterone literally dropped by 50% since the 1980's. So yeah.
@@TheStraightestWhitest yeah and thanks to social media too
@@Bhavesh_verma Among other things, yes. The media and all forms of entertainment have greatly contributed as well.
Lol, alfa-malez comparing themselves to a group of bodybuilding actors in a movie about an alien. If you need an online self-help movement of bullshit to validate yourself, the problem is not physical.
Predator shoots at Carl Weather's arm = arm blown off
Predator shoots at Arnold Schwarzenegger's arm = minor flesh wound
He hit his gun
He can change the power of his plasma gun. Watch the showdown between Dutch and the Predator, when he's shooting wildly into the trees. Some shots are just singeing branches, while others are creating huge explosions and knocking trees down.
Blood for Face that's correct as well,in avp 2 game as a predator you can charge your gun.Still the predator hit arnie's gun and you can see it very well if you slow the video down.
Sad Whisky yep, sure can. That's crazy man, I've been watching this movie since I was about 7( that's been a quarter of a century ago...) and I've never noticed that before. The shot hit the M-16 receiver, and blew the rifle in half, at that. I'd always kinda wondered why Dutch didn't try and grab his rifle as he ran away.
That's why you train biceps.
As a kid in the 80s watching it on HBO Saturday night with my dad and him laughing when he heard Billy scream like saying wow all that drama for nothing... my dad was a clown loved to joke and laugh at everything but we loved this movie and part 2.

1:41 the terror in their expressions is priceless. Arnold looks to the woman and she looks back, Poncho is shivering. This is real fear. the kind you get when you are being chased by someone you can't beat

1:35 my reaction when I hear they are making another Predator movie to ruin this great Franchise.
I know RIGHT!😂🤣😂
I mean really
Was there any of Predator sequels that were decent??? I think AvP was alright tho
@@Gaziz85 Predators was pretty decent. The Yakuza fight scene was pretty impressive. The ending sucked hard though.
I think Billy screamed when the Predator poured some rubbing alcohol on his chest wound.
Billy: I'm scared Poncho.
Poncho: Bullshit. You ain't afraid of no man.
Billy: There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die.
R.I.P. Billy...
Epic lines of dialogue. Dare I say most epic lines from the entire movie.
The director of this movie deserves a TON of props - he took what really is just a standard sci-fi B-movie plot and (thanks to scenes like this) turned it into one of THE most epic sci-fi/action/horror films of ALL time.
CraftySouthpaw true. just like Halloween. serial killer stalks babysitters on Halloween night. The basic idea isn't what makes it great, the creativity in the execution does.
...then he went on to direct Die Hard
John mctiernan is a boss, die hard 1,3, the hunt for red October, last action hero, what a boss
McTiernan the last action hero !!!
@@lewis3908 Then he went on to spend a year in prison.
The cast.. The background score.. The location.. Fantastic movie
Billy is a comanche descendant. So it took the fight personal.
He wasn't Comanche. It was Cherokee and Seminole.
In the Novel, Billy is Lakota
@@Elfo_Scuro Lakota
@@louiswebtser yup a Half breed Indian too
In an alternate version, the predator sees Billy doing that and is just like "Yeah, that's gonna be a no from me dawg" and fades away in to the jungle like Homer in to the bushes.
...which was a play off Terminator 2, T1000s ability to melt into things, they literally use those same sound effects in that episode, not only that, Homer chases Flanders with a pair of Golf clubs, just like T1000 😂
Ironically, Arnold is also in that film.
LMFAO I wish

Predator probably pushed billy into the ravine. Lmao! He'd be like: outta my way fool!
+Johnny Midnite No, he collected his skull as a trophy which means he killed him with his wrist blades in a quick duel. Having your skull as a trophy is a great honour since the Yautja thinks you are a worthy warrior. :)
That's a nice way to put it.

Although most people dislike the off screen death, I actually like it. We can imagine anything we want, even though his death is quick. He most likely went out fighting melee vs melee, which took courage.
As you can see, 20 years later and our imaginations are still running wild.
@@sofakingonmynuts1438 there’s a comic that shows the fight and how it went down and billy got absolutely destroyed 💀
@@bobsaget5170 Billy did great considering what he was up against, even if it was a younger, less experienced Predator. I like the little internal monologue he had during that whole fight
predator probably was cloaked and use his targeting gun, declined melee combat with Billy
It was more terrifying that way.
Furthermore, that shot of Poncho's arm trembling aiming into the jungle after they hear the death scream of Billy is such a great, and under-rated, touch.
seen that too.....im watching every angle of poncho
As hurt as he was, that MP5 might've been a little heavy for 1 hand
Report Billy for intentional feed plz thx.
Report Dutch for trying kill steal at the end there, kicking away lane-mate's gun.
Look all that items predator has. Like shoulder cannon, arm blade... He is well fed GG noobs
I just lost all my shit lmfao
Predator need nerf plz

The musical score in this movie is superb. As good as the first Conan. This scene in particular, atmosphere of dread, bad things are coming. In another century, the Predator genre will be alive and well, just like vampires and zombies. All thanks to this masterpiece that started it all.
Stay gold.
For me, it's the greatest score in cinema history. It drives the film, from start to finish. It's absolutely essential and adds so much to the tension and drama of the movie. It's truly brilliant, Alan Silvestri hit a home run with it,
there should be a directors cut with billy dying on camera
I think us seeing the predator rip his spine out was good enough.
There was a rumor that has been circulating since even before Predator 2 came out in theaters in 1990 that there was a "lost scene" where Billy fights the predator and his death is shown on camera. The rumor persisted through the 90's and even in recent years that the scene exists as an "extra," but of course like all things of this nature, it only exists on some highly obscure laser disc that only works in some remote region of the world.
In fact, it is blatantly false. The film's director as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Sonny Landham himself (the actor who portrayed Billy) have all gone on record saying that no such scene was ever filmed, or even conceived to be filmed. Billy's death was always meant to occur off camera.
It's more badass the way it's depicted here. Billy accepts his death and refuses to run from it - he resolves to die a warrior's death. I think it's best that we last see him standing his ground, calling the Predator out without any fear of being killed. When I was a kid I felt a little cheated, but watching this scene as an adult, I think it's amazing.
jarvis j
really wish we could have seen a fight scene were billy goes toe to toe and nearly defeats the Predator i mean he was described as the biggest bad ass in their group
0:01 Greef Karga is killed by a bounty hunter on an unknown forest planet 11 ABY
I wish they had taken the time for a scene with Billy and The Predator on that bridge.
For what, he got mutilated.
@@brahimchab agreed,better to be mysterious
Would've been cool to see a scene where the Predator turned visible and extended his wristblades on the other side of the bridge, to show that he honored Billy's challenge (since they're a honorable race). Could've still cut to the guys running and had Billy scream immediately after, would've been about as scary at least in my opinion.
@@M8gazine That's actually a damn good idea for that scene!
@@M8gazine Camera shows only the Predator's hand. It's important to preserve the reveal of the Predator later when it emerges from the water in front of Dutch. The camera is locked on the Predators hip or fingertips, blurry with the focus on the background where Billy is standing on the log, as the Predator emerges from the forest at a walk. Cut to a close up of Billy getting a good look at the Predator approaching him. With no demerit to his bravery, as he stands his ground with his hand on his machete, he observes the Predator and his eyes widen in horror and terror. Just a human response when you see an otherworldly demon approaching who will almost certainly kill you as he has every other man like you. There is a mix of terror at certain death and heroic resolve to fight to the death on Billy's face. It's both awesome and frightening to behold. Cut back to the Predator's thigh. The Predator steps up onto the log bridge, standing directly opposite Billy on the other end of it, who we can see in the background. The focus shifts from the background to the foreground immediately before the Predator extends it's blades, dividing the image on the screen. Cut to the rest of the survivors fleeing in the forest just before they hear Billy's death cry.
