A team of special force ops, led by a tough but fair soldier, Major "Dutch" Schaefer, are ordered to assist CIA man, Colonel Al Dillon, on a rescue mission for potential survivors of a Helicopter downed over remote South American jungle. Not long after they land, Dutch and his team discover that they have been sent in under false pretenses. This deception turns out to be the least of their worries though, when they find themselves being methodically hunted by something not of this world.

You know it's a good movie when you watch it 100 times and still love it after all these years.
Indeed.
That really is a special feeling and a good way to describe this movie ..... it just has a sort of symmetry with the audience .... so good
I love how the movie naturally leads the protagonist to the understanding that the Predator can only see through thermal vision, not with epic discovery through meticulous research, but by pure chance of crawling through cold mud in fear and then shooting a nearby rat, the only heat source in the area. Perfect narration through only images, instead of long, boring explanations. Masterpiece.
But I realized something.
At this point dutch didn't have to stay and fight,he could of walked or ran to the chopper covered in mud and he would of been ok
@samuraichamploo07 They don't make movie heroes like they used to ☹️
If this move was made today, it would be like "give me my safe space that I'm entitled to while I try and figure out the animosity between Earthling and alien."
And the Predator would have no choice but to comply.
The Predator can see through other vision, without the mask, the Mask simply added an advantage to see better than his normal vision with the ability to zoom in and lock onto things with the shoulder mounted cannon.
@@hagdore If Predator was made today, Dutch would first have to ask the alien if it identified itself as Him, Her, or LBGQT before getting permission to attack it.
Can we appreciate the fact that the rat survived being shot at by the Predator.
Perhaps the best Arnold movie. Hard to believe “Predator” is 37 years old. They don’t make em’ like this anymore!
Better than most woke Hollywood films nowadays
One of the bests in my humble opinion. Total Recall and Running Man are also masterpieces.
Terminator 2 is the best arnold movie, but i love predator. specaly the creature design.
@@DeadManWalking-ym1ooso damn true man.
@@DeadManWalking-ym1oo Now it is the time of Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hardy etc. I have respect for them but I am not a fan of them. If you compare Hobbs & Shaw with Tango & Cash you will see what I mean.
One of the best movies in history
FACT!
FACT !
🙌
amen to that
GET TO DA CHAAAAPPPAAAAA!!!
This movie was way ahead of it's time.
I agree, every time I watch this movie I think its from 1990, and then they tell me "no, that's when Predator 2 released" and I realize this was made 3 years earlier. Unbelievable!
Stop using the phrase "way ahead of its time". LOL late 80s wasn't the 50s.
💯
@challenger516 it's 2024 & still way ahead of it's time..lol
@Jeron-ft9fo why not ???
The Predator really is a unique take on aliens in general. It doesn't want to "make contact" with humans, it doesn't want to conquer us, it couldn't care less. It's just here for a hunting trip. We're just semi-challenging game to it.
As a kid, I thought the concept of the predator aliens was so cool.
They come to our earth and hunt the best warriors.
As an adult, it dawned on me that they mastered interstellar space travel, are more technologically advanced than humans, are physically MORE imposing than humans, we’ve only seen one of them, and imagine if their whole species went to war with earth.
@@steverogers7601 indeed, wouldnt even classify as a war they'd just take over the world in a day.
this movie is disclosure, the predator is actually sasquatch, the lizard people, cloaked in teh jungle waiting for hikkers
This IS them making contact, when you look at Dutch and the Predator at the end honestly the only difference they have between both is one is an ugly motherfucker with cloaking tech and the other is a tired and battered soldier.
@@bladerjThe amount of people that go missing in state parks IS a national secret so.....
I love how in a lot of these 80s movies the hero doesn’t win because he’s better, because he’s invincible or whatever nonsense. A lot of the time he simply gets lucky.
And smarter, the whole reason man was ever a predator.
And the hero doesn't win because, you know, girl power.
@@BoopSnoot
Girl power is shit
The entire movie is basically a "David vs. Goliath" retelling. Notice how Arnie's team shows up with confidence and loads of tech/guns to take out the entire guerilla camp without a second thought. But then when hit with something they never met before, their confidence in their tech is ultimately their downfall because the enemy fights with techniques (cloaking device, uses trees to move from A to B) that they never have seen before (hybris). Then later, it's the other way around with Arnie using unexpected tactics against the predator and the predator being the one who is ultimately losing because of overreliance on his tech.
Fun Fact: This was exactly one year before John McTiernan gave us another action masterpiece. Die Hard.
That was my action movie back then. Unfortunately I didn't watch it on the big screen. When my mother rented the movie for the weekend. Watched Die Hard several times. Unfortunately, I don't get the same experience with the new movies these days. It will be posted here on the channel in December. Have the official 4k version. Think that looks bad.
Die Hard died shortly after it came out! A mediocre movie with a phony actor!
...and 3 years before "Hunt for Red October"!
Die Hard 5 is the best one of them all.
@@trikkerman1 I did not know bags of stinking garbage worth numbering.
Man the silence before the Predator jumps in the water...no soundtrack nothing....Masterpiece 👌
This is the craziest picture quality of any 80s movie I ever seen looks so modern . Love the first two predator movies. New ones with cgi are garbage .
As young person the cgi is better
@@kodesh1674 no its not
@kodesh1674 I’m young and I prefer the originals!
@@kodesh1674 CGI looks less realistic unless you're talking about background scenery (trees, desert, sky). CGI works great in the background or when very lightly applied to movie characters. But when the movie character is totally CGI I firmly disagree with you that it is better than, say, a movie like this with a guy in a very well crafted costume.
@@kodesh1674 Predators was good, but the others just don't match up man
I grew up in the 80/90s and was lucky to grow up with The Terminator, Indiana Jones, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Rocky IV, Rambo, Goldeneye and even a couple of good Jean Claude and (gasp) Steven Seagal movies. Now all there is are CGI comic book heroes.
totally agreed
Yassss such great films from back then. It’s nostalgic. I can’t stand today’s reboots; just leave the classics as is. Now they’re doing roadhouse 🤦🏼♀️
100% agreed. I hope were not blinded by "our time was better" like the older generations say all the time, but even trying to get an objective view at today's movies, I can't see how it stands VS. 80s/90s Hollywood.
There's a few exceptions sure, Nolan, Villeneuve. But generally the big movies aren't legendary as they once were.
The greatest version is this original version of predator. 😀😀
This is the best scene by far. It show cases the sheer technological superiority of the predator and what Arnold is going to be up against.
dont think we will get movies like this again. now we have 30 superheroes flying around doing nothing
What about extraction?
That's true lol ain't save shit
😂😂😂😂😂😂
We literally had a predator movie like a year ago
@@sonoftheway3528They meant good quality movies in general. Movies used to have a real message, now they are pushing agendas.
Stan Winston, greatest SFX genius in cinematic history.
This movie is a masterpiece. Up there with the greats like Godzilla, Jaws, Godfather, Bladerunner, Apocalypse Now, and so many others.
imagine how badly screwed dutch would be if predator had the heartbeat detector....
That only works if his heart if beating hard. Royse was running around for seval minutes. Plus this is before they had adjusted their tech based on their losses.
It was in the works at InsaneAlienShit™ corporation on Predator's home planet at the time. It wasn't deployed until 2010.
legend says a movie like this comes out once in a millennia
😂 so true!
Arnold has commented that he enjoyed the opportunity to play vulnerable and terrified in this movie. He wasn't able to do that in his previous films.
First saw this back in 1989 or so when I was 7ish. Scared the living hell out of me lol. To see the bad ass special forces dudes so scared and terrified as the movie goes along. Movie does an excellent job with pace and not revealing the creature till the end. Awesome movie. Great acting. Special effects/action. Classic film🤘
Same, I was 9 and terrified me and a friend. Top 10 movies in my list.
@@alejandro1904 Oh yeah. One of my favs🤘
Yeh it scared me too. Great movie.
Arnie gives a genuine look of fear that you rarely see him do after he reaches for the weapon and finds it’s not there before just bracing himself.
I've seen this movie a million times, but I never noticed him reaching for his side arm.
@@We_Are_Borg_478 yes he had a .45 colt in a holster seen in previous scenes hence why he reaches for it in this scene only to find it is gone the only other weapon he had was his knife but the Alien still had his firepower so Dutch in a split second realizes only thing to do is stay still and pray the cold mud concealed his heat emission ( without knowing) and when the Alien looked at him and then shot at the Rat he put it together that he has a good chance at survival because he still had some tools to work with on his person Myself I carry tools on my person from a .45 a Bayonet to Leathermans matches lighters flashlight etc just in case you get in a sticky situation ( I am not talking about a Alien hunting me but rather get stuck in a survival situation) for the record I live a remote outdoors world not a office life.
@@bodhixxx1
I tend to forget about his side arm because he doesn't use it once, to the best of my knowledge.
In fact, Arnold rarely resorts to side arms, outside of a few movies like Commando and Terminator.
Usually, his hands are deadlier than a .45 😂
the best Predator movie in the world.only this one.
2:18 you see dutch
Predator and Terminator 2 judgment day some of the best action movies I'd ever seen
Timeless masterpiece
Still we can see Arnold through infrared..that’s the highlight…this film is truly a masterpiece
HDR quality is something else. 👍
Cant belive this quality, keep it coming my man !
John Mctiernan is a legend. It is a shame his career was destroyed in some lawsuits, else we could have seen more brilliant movies from him !
Awesome/iconic scene.
This was the coolest Alien movie.
Back when I watched this movie for the 1st time, I felt a genuine sense of fear!
This is when Hollywood made real movies
One of best movie ever
My wife has come into the living room over 1,000 times to say “oh no not Predator AGAIN!” I tell her;
Babe if I can watch Predator over 1,000 times and not get bored then you know ile never get bored of you, it shows my loyal character😂
😂🤣😂
THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!!!
HONEY TELLS ME
"YOU KNOW EVERYBODY LINES IN THE MOVIE" & I TOLD HER " RUN,,,GET TO THE CHOPPA"!!!!!😂😂😂
its hard to watch this and not say the lines after watching it 1000 times.your ghosting us mother father. got that
Why did she marry you? Because some damn fool accused you of being the best!
@@judyhopps9380 hahaha. Good one
What made this movie so great is that Arnold is a mass of humanity but looks meek next to the predator
this ultra HD is sooo GOOD
Best movie of the series seriously I had watched all the movies .
The Pred, shooting at a tiny creature, no threat, spoofs the story.. Love this movie..
Arnold had himself quite the streak:
1982 - Conan the Barbarian
1984 - The Terminator
1985 - Commando
1986 - Raw Deal
1987 - Predator
1987 - The Running Man
1988 - Red Heat
1990 - Total Recall
Now that’s a decade! Yes, I intentionally left out Conan the Destroyer.
Even Conan the destroyer is quickly becoming a masterpiece when placed beside modern wokeness.
Predator and the first Terminator movie. Wow! Just wow! 👏
Cannot believe that the rat survived a blast from the predator at point blank range…..
Lol me too
Он.целился.в.крупную.дичь
It was inside a hollow log, the blast just weakened it so the predator could expose what was inside. I think we’re meant to assume that the predator was checking to see if it was Dutch or not.
Looked like a monkey to me
At 2:40 the animal squealing away and running the F away for dear life, ALWAYS cracks me up. 😂😂😂😂😂
Whenever I'm exhausted after a long swim, I always make it a habit to drop my face into mud as well.
Fav film. What a scene.
I love that there´s no line of dialogue and we still can understand. That´s the proof that we don´t need to understand to like it. We can appreciate without liking, because only by understanding it is enough to enjoy.
Toss up between this, Commando, and Terminator 2.. . .
I remember me and my dad seeing this movie and we walking out the theater feeling like we could take on the world. Lol. Such a “Hell yeah” type of movie. Love it!
I like that Dutch was inadvertently saving himself by covering himself with the mud he knew little to nothing about the predator or its abilities
Hands down top five movies of all time!
Today even in the era of artificial intelligence and advanced technology, nobody has ever produced such a master piece .This movie cant believed to be made in 1987
The quality is amazing!!!
" HE COULDN'T SEEN ME !! " 👍👊🤙
Predator is the movie you watch when you can't decide on anything else
Better cgi than some of today's movies. like wtf have we been doing?
Damn Arnie's good, while pulling himself backwards towards the logs he managed to wipe mud over the other side of his face and head
This particular scene is well-known for its intensity and suspense, showcasing the incidental discovery by Arnold mud as heat deflection which lead to adapting to the Predator's advanced technology. The film, directed by John McTiernan, has become a classic in the action and science fiction genres, and this moment is often cited as one of its memorable sequences.
1 of the best arnold flicks no doubt.Rip Sonny ,Rip Carl Weathers, rip Kevin peter hall.and from running man rip my man Bulbhead.Dynamo.grossburger from stir crazy too another classic goodie
This scene does something to me. Watching this ever since childhood. This stand out sequence, does not let up. Picture this.. something or somone just relentless behind in pursuit. The music and ques when Dutch has finally exhausted himself to no avail. The predators menacing and sheer dread in Dutch’s mind. Its superb to watch. Fuck it’s scary.. what a movie. Arie 🫡🤙💪💯
The prominent treat here is the picture being present day 4k just jaw droppingly to the. As oppose to 90s vhs days. Sublime as if hd wasn’t enough. Bonus point watching on a bigger screen tv with surround audio or quality speakers
I wished Arnold sneezed at that moment😂
Did you guys know that Kevin Peter Hall had to make the "out of the water" scene lot's of time without the mask to memorize the steps, and then, with the mask so he can know where to step in?!
Kevin brought Predator to life like no one will ever will be!
And sorry for my bad english. Im portuguese 😂
iam keeping count and today nite iam going to watch it for the 101 time ....
This scene was so good that they mentioned it in all the sequel movies
Danke dir 🎉😊Geniale Szenerie
Timeless classic one of my favorite movies of all time! Imagine if the Predator with those beautiful dreadlocks screams "Bombaclat" after mistaking the animal heat signature for Dutch
Miss the 80s
Modern Hollywood only causes vomiting, so you have to watch the classics.
What if the predator knew he was there but just wanted the challenge 🤔
Yeah predators like a fair fight
Maybe wait for Arnie to find a weapon and come back full strength
It’s a fun theory and would absolutely be a theory that aligns with how some predators are.
Pure realistic Action with a touch of SF and no Computer Animation performed in HighTech Studios. Brillant. A must have in the BlueRay/DVD collection.
Great effects,I just love that Predator costume.❤
Чужой, Чужие, Бегущий по лезвию, Хищник. Лучшие фантастические фильмы.
This is the turning point where Dutch realises the one advantage he has, and uses it to his full advantage later. It's the second of the only two times the hunt has turned against the Predator.
This movie was and still is a damn masterpiece 37 years after it was made. One of the best action/horror movies of all time….
Used to freak me out so much when I was a kid in the 1980’s that i would be afraid to go to bed after watching it. I would get completely under the covers because I was thought he was in the room with me and he would be able to see my bodyheat through his infrared vision…. True story 😅
Watching this as a kid I'm like your fucked 😂
Same! I used to hold as still as possible when I watched this scene lol.
Same lmao
When I got older, I realized that these aliens were bigger/stronger than humans, more technologically advanced than humans, have mastered interstellar space travel, and we’ve only seen like two of them.
Imagine if humanity went to war with the predator species, humanity would be f’d
Badassery at its finest.. Much love ❤
This scene is better than everything after P2.
0:34
Nobody talks about this, but you ever notice Arnold loves to spit water when he swims?
😂
0:51
He does it in all his movies 😂
did you notice as well, and im surprised no one said this, but you can see arnold take a deep breathe and hold it before he buries his head in the mud seemingly as if he is passing out.
@@thejanusproject32
Yeah, but I guess you can't blame arnold for that one 😂
Dirt and mud in one's mouth is a very unpleasant experience! Takes forever to wash out the little grains that stick to your teeth 😁
He is blowing in water not spiting water.. if you ever swim and get tired you will probably do that too 😂
Like Predator 1 & 2 as much as each other great films.
One of the classic... Master piece
2:12 it’s thermal vision it’s like an old tv antenna signal that he couldn’t see a blue man shape in the forest.
Cette scène m'a totalement fasciné lorsque j'ai le film pour la première fois en VHS durant les années 90
Merci pour cet extrait et pour la qualité exceptionnelle de l'image ! 😳
One of my favorite movies.

Perfectly done.
Nice HDR quality
Most of 80s and 90s movies stand ahead of time

One poor thing is I am not yet born when movies are released. Actually the person who watched the movie while releasing is the Luckiest person in world.
At 2:17 you can see Arnie, there's a black thick line (representing the tree log) across the screen to the right of the line you can see Arnie's face and bicep silhouette
Didn’t see it, I was too focused on the thick, muscly bicep.
Mmm good
I see him at 2:13. On the left, two black circles. Those are his pecks. Below that, another black shape, his abdomen. Then below that, the purple is his legs. The rat's far to the right of Arnie (or on Arnie's left). By the time we get to 2:17 the camera's panned closer to the log where the rat/possum would be.
All that blood pumping thru the eyeballs would glow like crazy.
This is what movies need to look like these days
One of the Most ICONIC movie scenes !!!
Masterpiece of a film
childhood movie 🙂👍
The fact that the predator missed the possum at such a close range (even with laser sights) let Dutch know that he had flaws, the alien even became angered & kicked the log.
WILD THING IS THERES DIFFERENT KINDS OF BEINGS OUT THERE THAT CLOAKS IN THIS WORLD. 100% many know this first hand.
