Thanks for a good report. Mr. Simon is not the first musician to have to reinvent himself to some degree, nor will he be the last. Important lessons. Hope for smooth sailing for him and for the Stanford research into this. Sounds like they are on the right track.

If any modern musician needs his hearing the most it's Paul. Good luck 🎉🎉

It's ironic that such a visionary would experience such profound hearing loss. I hope Mr. Simon and others can lobby strongly for the Federal Government to amend Medicare rules to allow coverage for hearing-assist devices. Presently only examinations are covered; remedial measures are not.. Decent hearing aides can cost upwards of $7,000 - a significant sum, particularly for seniors on fixed incomes. Many thanks to the brilliant Paul Simon and the wonderful Anthony Mason for this illuminating piece. You've helped a lot of people, and we are grateful.

Can’t ever thank you enough Paul for blasting through the mainstream media what this intensely personal hell is like for the > tens of millions of us. This cure will happen VERY soon. And it will be affordable for all of us. Count on it!

As someone who’s grown up with a hearing loss, I’d never want it “cured”. Definitely filters people quickly! It is a blessing from a social standpoint

What about from the standpoint of enjoying the unique and exquisite beauty of music or other sounds? I'd have to say in the extreme that you must have no idea what you're missing out on during the brevity of life. BUT, then to quote famous Simon & Garfunkel lyrics "If I never loved I never would have cried". Lucky you, I suppose.

Paul McCartney is another singer who seems to have issues. His voice is nothing like it used to be. 😢

Loud music - especially long term with ear buds = hearing loss. Turn it down, folks.
