#2 Was NOT a jockey , they are just practicing for sure. When training they put a larger person so when actual rider weight seems much lighter to horse ! Love it I would love to sit and watch them !🥰🥰
We are so jealous and want to do the Bourbon Trail so bad! We love Old Fashions & we make a mean Brandy Old Fashion! Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
So many good stories from the distilleries. Just after we arrived at Wild Turkey, they had to up their security. Apparently some of the locals drilled holes into the transfer whiskey lines and made away with hundreds of gallons of whiskey. I enjoyed Makers Mark. What makes the tours so special, are the people that work their. They are so friendly and down home. You can't replicate that.
Bardstown is another beautiful small town in that area with a Bourbon stop. We’re from Bend, Oregon, but our daughter went to Morehead State University about an hour east of Lexington on a softball scholarship. I love that whole area with the black wood fencing and beautiful horses.
Another great video guys. Becky and I love that beautiful area of our country. We rolled through and spent some time there, and south to Lexington last month on our trip from Newmar service to our home in North Carolina.
That old fashioned looked great... this video is surely singing my song... The Makers distillery is great.. went there way back when i was stationed at Ft. Campbell. Love it! Fun video.. thanks for taking us along.
Hi Brian and Shawna! I know someone already beat me probably to tell that that kind of horse where that man was on the back back it was called a sulky. I asked my sisters boy friend because he gets into horse racing and all. He says they used to race them. How was the whisky? I had whisky before . It’s nit my favorite so I’m with Shawna. On that one.lol! Sad they ran out of food. How does a restaurant run out of food. It was funny that cat laying on that barrel. He was in a weird position. He must have too much whisky! Lol! 😂😂 That was a nice piece of of whisky history told of they were given a bottle of whisky but they had a subscription. That is weird. Glad you both aren’t in an accident with road being 1 1/2 wide. Can’t fit 2 cars. Thus was a great video. Thank you Brian and Shawna!! See you both soon! Have a great week.
Wow ... what an exciting adventure! I'd loved to have tagged along with the two of you! It's very clear you had the time of your life ... heat and all. I love making memories! Enjoy and safe travels!! Ear scratches to Ricki & Lucy! ♥
Before Christmas they used to have self guided tours. With egg nog and hot chocolate made with makers. And it’s the “Bourbon Trail”, they have almost like passport books you can get stamped with each distillery you visit.
My mom loved to go to that kind of horse racing. I've been to Red Mile in Lexington many times while growing up. Ale 8 1, which is what everyone in Kentucky calls it, is made in Winchester, KY near Lexington. Lexington also has Keeneland, which is known for Thoroughbred sales and racing. You can't forget about the Kentucky Horse Park, several horses are buried there including Man O War. They have tours of the park plus there is a campground attached.
We were at Maker’s Mark probably near the same time you were. We made our reservations about 2 months in advance. We visited 4 distilleries and Maker’s Mark was our favorite. If you buy a bottle of bourbon in the gift shop they will let you dip it in the wax.
....do you think that cat took the tasting tour? It looked like the kitty may have been had a nip of the product too! Beautiful countryside, you are lucky to have such experiences.
Did you have a chance to go to Buffalo Trace? Buffalo Trace was a lot of free samples. One of my favorites besides Jack Daniels. I have never been to the Limestone Branch. I love the smell of the mash! Thank you for the video, brings back good memories.
Wow! you made it to Kentucky! We last met you in Benson, Az. We went northwest, and are spending our summer on the Oregon coast. Hope we run into you again on the road.
Why didn’t you try to make reservations for the Maker’s Mark tour sooner? I would have liked to see it! I like the brand. Darn you…. Actually I enjoyed your video as usual. The grounds at Maker’s look beautiful, i can only imagine seeing it in person.
Hi Brent. We checked 2 weeks before we went and slots were wide open, so we waited thinking it wouldn’t be a problem to get on a tour. You know the rest of the story. 🍻
I was eating at a Steak and Ale years ago and the waiter said they ran out of baked potatoes, and there was a Food Lion store right beside the restaurant.
Snuck up to my neck of the woods. LOL I live in a suburb of Louisville. Marion county is about an hour and a half outside of Louisville. I hope enjoy the bourbon trail. Don't forgetots to see in Louisville. Taje a ride on the Belle of Louisville river boat. Churchill Downs (KY Derby is ran, but have horse racing all summer). Louisville Slugger Museum. Lots of great restaurants in town. Stay on the east of 9th street if you go down town. Don't forget Mammoth Cave N.P. and Cave city just outside the park. Lincoln's Birth Place and boyhood home in Hodgenville just off I-65. Lots to see in eastern KY. Lexington area has Keeneland Race track and farm where retired thoroughbred horses go. Go see The Ark Experience. Life size Ark. Cumberland Falls S.P., Red River gorge and Natural Bridge, great hikes. Out western, KY Land Between the Lakes, largest inland peninsula in the US. between Lake Barkley and KY Lake. This is just a few of the big attractions. There are plenty more. Welcome to KY!
So sorry you didn't get to do the tour...its great. I'm from KY so I'm sure you have learned that its Bourbon in KY whiskey in TN! And its Harness Racing. Hope you got to visit Lexington to see Thoroughbred racing and in Louisville is Churchill Downs which is much more popular.
Both trotters and pacers use sulkies. The difference is that a trotter moves its legs forward in diagonal pairs (right front and left hind, then left front and right hind striking the ground simultaneously), whereas a pacer moves its legs laterally (right front and right hind together, then left front and left hind). The first two were pacers, the one who said hi to you was a trotter. My husbands family owned two trotters.
Kentucky Gentlemen, Yellowstone, Knob Creek, Jim Beam, and KY Tavern in that order are my favorites. I wish I had tge money to win an auction to buy a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle. It is the most expensive bourbon in the world, made in small batches, it is auctioned by the bottle, and usually runs about $300. I have seen it go for almost $800.
The kitty cat was hilarious!
👍😀
Kentucky is one of the prettiest places.
Hi Pam. We agree!
Awe, you were in my beautiful bluegrass home state of KY, lived here since I was 3 yrs old. Love camping at all of our state & COE parks!!
Hi Lisa! We will surely be back! Kentucky is beautiful.
#2 Was NOT a jockey , they are just practicing for sure. When training they put a larger person so when actual rider weight seems much lighter to horse ! Love it I would love to sit and watch them !🥰🥰
See! This is why we love our audience!
We are so jealous and want to do the Bourbon Trail so bad! We love Old Fashions & we make a mean Brandy Old Fashion! Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hey guys! Thanks for watching!
Another great video Guys! Safe travels Zoe and Ramón
Thanks guys!

If there’s a will....there’s a way!😆

👍👍
Great Adventure, glad to ride along!!
Thanks! We’re glad you came along!
It was always called Harness Racing at our county fair when I was growing up. Fun to watch.
👍 Thanks Sharon!
Harness Racing!
👍🤜🤛
Another great video guys. Becky and I love that beautiful area of our country. We rolled through and spent some time there, and south to Lexington last month on our trip from Newmar service to our home in North Carolina.
👍 Cheers!
Thank you for the awesome tour! We couldn't get tour tickets while there in May, so we need a return visit.
👍🍷Cheers!
I'm not a drinker but I do love some Makers Mark Bourbon Balls around the Christmas holiday.
Now those sound good!
Great video! Love watching your adventures!
👍🤜🤛
Great tour of the distilleries!
Thank you! Cheers!
We will be in Bardstown Ky in 2 weeks. Looking forward to spending some time in Kentucky.
👍 Have fun!
Another very interesting and entertaining video 👍🏻
Thank you Dave! Is the UK still in lockdown?
We love Makers Mark too. Enjoyed seeing the grounds.😀
Hi Linda! We had a blast.
It is harness racing. The horses are called trotters or pacers. The cart is a sulky or spider.
Thanks Judi! What a rough ride for the trainers. Those things had absolutely no suspension.
My favorite is pappy van winkle!
Thanks Dean! Never had it, but my son says it’s a great one two...when you can find it that is.
That old fashioned looked great... this video is surely singing my song... The Makers distillery is great.. went there way back when i was stationed at Ft. Campbell. Love it! Fun video.. thanks for taking us along.
👍👍 Cheers!
Hi to you guys, absolutely beautiful !! Thank you, it's now on my bucket list even more, Thanks again :)
😆🍻

👍❤️
Good info here. We’re looking at taking our camper up through the bourbon trail next year or so.
It’s a good time for sure!
Before Christmas they used to have self guided tours. With egg nog and hot chocolate made with makers. And it’s the “Bourbon Trail”, they have almost like passport books you can get stamped with each distillery you visit.
Now that sounds really good! We saw the passports, but didn’t have them stamped 😲
Love the green rolling hills… grew up in Ohio around much the same surroundings. Now I’m homesick.
Thanks for watching!
Welcome to my home state. It’s been hard to schedule tours during COVID. Tastings are easier to get in right now.
Thanks David! We had a great time.

Hi Janet! Perhaps we’ll hit those sites the next time we’re in that area b

We didn’t, but that is good whiskey!
Wow! you made it to Kentucky! We last met you in Benson, Az. We went northwest, and are spending our summer on the Oregon coast. Hope we run into you again on the road.
Yes! Hi Tracy!

Hi Regina. We had a great time in Kentucky!
The Old Fashion looked great but I would not have been happy with the bartender picking up the ice cube with his bare hands and putting in my drink.
Well...surely there was plenty of alcohol content to fend off most anything. 🤔
The racing you saw is Harness or Trot Racing with the "carts" behind the horse.
👍
I believe the horse was a "pacer" pulling the sulky as opposed to a "trotter".
Thanks Charles!

Winchester Swamp Water is what we here in Kentucky call that drank she had.
👍🍻
I'm a Tennessee Squire (Jack Daniels) myself but I'll have to try some of the Maker's Mark.
Maker’s Mark has a great vanilla-Carmel finish! Sure to please the palate!
We liked Buffalo Trace distillery as well as others. Be sure to check out Rebecca Ruth's Bourbon Candies in Frankfort, they're the bomb.
BT is really good!

👍😲
Harness racing
👍
Makers mark also has a ambassador program that you can sign up for, it's free.
Thanks Frank! We will check that out.
Harness racing... also known as "Trots" in Australia...
Thanks Susi!
So, how do you sample whisky on the Bourbon trail?
Hi Sue! Most have tasting rooms just like wineries.
Bourbon Trail allows you to review the various medicinal distillery products.
FYI : they are prescription free.
👍
That type of horse racing is called harness racing.
👍 Thanks Dan!
They also made alcohol for the military weapons throw out prohibition
Interesting. Thanks for the info!
weird fact...geological center of the usa is lebanon kansas!
That is weird! 😲
Isn’t that bourbon awesome!?!?!? Great video!!
We call it harness racing.
Bourbon trail, not whiskey!
Thanks Marty!
Somebody say "whiskey sour".....? 😛
👍🍻
It's refreshing to see nobody wearing face diapers.
Now I want an Old Fashioned. I've never had one.
Definitely try one Frank!
Drivers are called sulky drivers
👍
Sorry, I’m not a whisky guy. I’ll go with your wife’s ginger beer.
👍🍻
I believe it is the bourbon trail… whiskey is from Tennessee, bourbon from Kentucky 👍
Correct. Hence the title😉...all bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. So technically we were sampling whiskey on the bourbon trail.
“Cringe” Who would have thought.
?🤔?
