It really makes me suspicious when people say high school and college are the best years of your life. Maybe, if you had a healthy family and like to party. My 20s is facing and unlearning all the trauma and insecurities life has put on me. I’ve been convinced for a long time that 30s is when I’ll be at my best. I’m putting in the work now to get there.

Although you should also live in the present. I did the opposite. When I was little all I did was fantasize and prepare for highschool and it was good don't get me wrong, but I never got to be a kid and I was still preparing for my 20s and didn't get to enjoy my teen years as much as I could have. Word of Advice: Don't do what I did

As a teenager, I let other people define me. My 20s were shaped by trauma, and my 30s by my mistakes. It wasn't until my 40s that I finally found myself. I love the life I've created and the person I've become. I am finally and fully me and it's exhilarating. I only wish I'd gotten to know myself sooner.

That gives me some hope. I've been caught up in my trauma all teens and 20s and I'm only starting to process it and learning who I am. I'm currently trying to change things in my life and I keep backtracking as I feel anxious if I'm making the right decision and what if something else is better. That's going to be all my 30s. I hope I'm where you are come 40s.

My 20s were about major traumatic experiences, toxic abusive relationships and then from 28 to early 30s spent on healing and therapy. I'm 34 getting married and in a much better place mentally. It's a journey, sometimes things are so hard you literally want to die and then you hang in there, time goes by and you are still standing stronger and wiser than before.

Turned 36 this year. And it made me feel a bit nostalgic when I realized I'm actually closer to my 40s than my 20s now. I remember being so scared about being "old" in your 30s and now that I am a middle aged woman I have to say, my thirties are the best time of my life. I know who I am, I know what I bring to the table, I have expectations and boundaries, I feel comfortable in my body, my accomplishments. For the first time in my life I feel ... at peace. In all honesty, my thirties are better than I ever could have imagined. Looking back, my, 20s were ducking exhausting.

You don;t know who you are, what you want, and you are always sad and depress over ever choices thinking you gotta figure everything out before you turn 30. 30 is extremely young. Chances are (barring accidents or sudden illness, which no one is completely safe from) you're going to live another THIRTY YEARS MINIMUM. A whole nother lifetime on top of the one you've already lived so far. Lean into (non destructive) fun and whimsy, lean into friendships, and start learning to treat yourself like you're own your ideal parent (gentleness, patience, open-eyed protectiveness). I'll be 29 in a few months, but I can already see my life getting better. When I was a child I didn't think I would even make it to being a teenager and I went through relentless bullying, depression, anxiety, you name it. I had no will to live and I dreaded waking up every morning to find out that I was still alive. I feel like I've come so far from all of that and the older I get, the more control I have over my life in countless aspects. I've learned to stand up for myself, to stop taking shitty people personally, and to stop trying to please my family. No matter what expectations of theirs I meet, it's still not enough for them and it makes both myself and my family unhappy. But if I meet my own expectations, maybe my family isn't pleased, but I'm happy, and that's what really matters, so I may as well do what I want to do. If I could give anyone in their 20s some advice, it would be to not take life so seriously. You don't have to have it figured out yet, and if your family is trying to guilt trip you or someone is harassing you, set boundaries. As Bon Jovi said "It's my life!" as Frank Sinatra said "I did it my way" 😂

I recommend looking up neck and back exercises on UA-cam, it goes eventually! Also back exercises and having good posture apparently get rid of neck pain (can’t relate lol)

@@Elven. By the time I hit 60, I like most people had been through and seen a lot. What really did it for me was when at 54 my doctor gave me a cancer diagnosis……….twice! The surgery’s all went well and things are fine. But having a doctor tell me I have cancer changed my attitude. Compared to that, the BS of every day life really doesn’t matter. Younger me spent a lot of time with self diagnoses, psychiatrists and self improvement. But for me what it boiled down to………I am what I am. At this point there’s no really changing that. Take care of yourself and help others as best you can and just toddle along. Hardest part for me is self motivation and staying positive. But I just keep swinging.

Turns out, the "dullness" I fear are actually well placed boundaries so you could truly live in the moment. True happiness is not the drunk, boisterous and free spirited images of you. It's the calm, confident and attuned version of you that cares more of yourself than the drama around you.

I just turned 30 at the end of last year (31 creeping up now), I wanted a huge celebration--but by the end of my 20s I had no friends to celebrate with, lost my direction of career, wasn't making enough money to afford the area I lived in....then met someone in another state and moved from my home town for a fresh start (part of my 5 yr plan). I felt sad that I didn't get to ring in an important age, esp not having celebrated my last few birthdays. And I felt judged for moving across the country and moving in with them after having known them less than a year.
But I also didn't expect to expedite my 5 year plan to 1 year, although I don't have the job I want, it pays more--enough for me to consider going on vacation 1-2x per year. And my living situation isn't so financially burdensome. Now I can breathe and redirect myself to focus on what I want to do with life while feeling more stable.
It wasn't all glitz and glam, it's messy but progress was made.
PSA: We do get hangovers from one drink ---and sometimes you just feel hungover for not drinking enough water, sleeping too little, or eating just a bit bad. I miss that young energy, although I don't feel old enough to say that, it definitely happens. (saying this as someone who stays active 3-4 days a week). And your constantly wondering if your having symptoms of early onset disease.
