18:50 Blew my mind when you showed how adding just one complete example allows people’s brains to fill in and make sense of the rest of the object. Absolute genius right there.
Seeing this structure come to life, detail by detail, is incredible. You make it look so simple. This is an amazing tutorial series. Thank you as always!
It's funny how you explain making the top edge light and the bottom edge dark to give the impression of a raised surface. Younger viewers may not remember, but computers used to do that to every button to indicate it was clickable. And when you clicked it, it would reverse the edge colours to indicate it had been clicked in. It was a great bit of skeuomorphic design! We gave up a lot of user friendliness when we moved to flat buttons.
This is literally my favorite youtube channel! Watching your process is always relaxing, and I've gained a ton of confidence in my own work based on your advice. Thanks for doing what you do!
Hello I just wanted to say your videos are amazing and I’m learning so much I made my first cat which I’m actually proud of and right now I’m building a house for the first time.your videos are the best
I gotta learn those options to only draw only over a certain color or darken/lighten them. Got Aseprite for over a year now and I still haven't used them lol
Please can you help me. I look at the pixel art of Thimbleweed Park and trying to work out how and why it stands out compared to most indie devs pixel art games. Is it because of the pixel density?
@@jakobimax you can buy peripherals called "graphics tablets", such as from Wacom or Huion. They all work with aseprite, because windows has a standard for pen input, which pretty much all art apps support.
@@AdamCYounis bought one) but you really need to get used to it. You know this hand eyes coordination. Maybe you can do a video, where you tell about the perfect workflow, hot keys on tablet and things like that. Thank once again for the tip
Hey! I have been wondering, why so many indie devs choose to use pixel art other than aesthetic decision? Is it because it is faster to create and animate?
I think the time it takes to create something depends on how much effort you're willing to put in. Any art style can be rushed, or made in a very minimal way. Pixel art is no different. if you go for a minimalist style, it's quick. If you go for high detail and quality, it takes a lot longer. Choosing to make a game in pixel art is like choosing to film in black and white. You're giving the player a frame of reference through which to interpret the other parts of the game. For me, it's mostly about the nostalgia of growing up playing SNES, or Gameboy. The games I make appeal to the kinds of things that I liked to read and play when I was young, and so I choose the same art style that those games had (plus a bit of modern polish).
Your art is amazing. I love the style. I would trade both of my legs to have your skill and talent. So: If you are in need of an extra pair of legs...call me.

Totally, amazing, loved it. It has been happening since before with the ‘hints’ of bricks already but the single leaf example was mind blowing.

One of my favorite parts of these videos is watching the chat have random conversations and interjections completely unrelated to anything
This, haha. My eyes tend to wander to the chat from time to time when watching Adam here in UA-cam just to see what they're up to again
I have seen so many bad looking plants. So glad you mentioned at 19:45 that we gotta keep in mind that plants seek the sun
If I don't think about removing the leaves in the fall, I want to live in that village. Thank you for a good lecture.
