I have an old Shimano TX120 rear drag reel. I have caught hundreds of fish with it. You can go from no drag to drag in a second, just by flipping a lever in the back. It's much faster than trying to fumble around with a front drag system. You will lose far less fish with a rear drag system. I also like the fact I can quickly adjust the drag tension on the rear of the reel. Sink the hook with no drag, flip the switch and the fish can run with a preset drag. Adjust the drag to the size of the fish. It's that simple.
I have that same old Shimano reel and it's great, just like you say. I gave it to my granddaughter and it's still a fish slayer. The rear drag reels are so much easier to use. I still love that TX120!
Man I love the Shimano spinning reels. Good first impression.
+BassGeek a believer now 😁
Well...Here I go....(LOL)
After many decades using (and wearing out) reels, this is one of my preferred mechanisms.
Wich is the best reel? Is like the best beer (or a woman). THE BEST IS THE ONE YOU LIKE !!!
...And I am absolutely in love with the rear drag reels.
You can have two or three spare bobins with different kind of fishing line and replace them while fishing with just a click! That is awesome! (and money wise, that is cheaper).
As soon as you get familiar with the drag lever and you can tight or loose the drag in the middle of a fight with your thumb, that becomes super awesome! and waay faster...
I found the rear drag is more precise (in many cases) than the upper drag (set aside the expensive reels) but in this brand almost everything is fine.
Beyond that, I consider a jump forward in fishing experience...but all depends on fisherman's skills and preferences.
I congratulate you, is a great choice!
Regards.
Fred.
+Fred Fable thanks Fred, I don't know much about this reel, I can't wait to put it to the test, test that rear drag, a nice peacock bass may do 😂
I wish you that! Or even Better...a Nice bonito from the kayak. (that will be awesome!)
That will put you and your rig to the test.
Try to use the lever as much as you can.
Move it to the right and set with the lower knob to "No drag" and then try releasing the lever to the left and see how much drag you have until you get familiar with it.
Good luck! Tight lines.
Fred.
Thanks for some video on it (I just ordered one) :)
I only use rear drag with fighting drag reels. I think you might have confused the rear/fighting drag with the two drag setting on a baitrunner ? Anyway, set the preferred drag with the rear knob and with the "lever" you can quickly adjust to lighter or harder drag while fighting the fish. The only other (not baitrunner) that has two drag setting is the Shimano CI4 Twinpower (which I also own) which has both front and rear drag adjustment AND fighting drag.
Thanks :)
+Peter Lindblom thanks 😁 I like the concept I'm going to be making more videos about mine soon
I had one of those rear drag reels
I hooked a Jet sky at big Carlos pass on Fort Myers Beach and the dude didn’t stop and it just melted the inside of that thing
Nice reel dude 👍
+Fishing Northern Florida what's up bro
Nice review👍🏽
+MORAx NICO thanks bro
Would you prefer the 1000 or 2500 for trout is the 2500 two big or is it perfect size
2500 is a perfect size for most fishing inshore or lake I landed giant fish on 2000 or 2500 reels
Now you should get a shimano ultegra and you will have all the New Shimano inshore spinning reels. Maby you can do a comparison video on them and pick your favorite. What does your wife think of all your reels LOL!?
+Gulp_Man102 I'll take a look at the ultegra, my wife doesn't like me spending money on reels, I just say this is an investment 😁
Can you replace the bale with a quick fire trigger?
I’m not sure
Hola es verdad que sí resiven un golpe se rompen fácil
I am loyal to my Penn Battle 2s. Lol
Code 1 Outdoors I like Dawia BG's
