Always loved Don’s playing. Phil actually wrote a song in honor of Don. It was put as one of the b-sides on the single We Wait And We Wonder. It’s called For A Friend. It’s a great atmospheric song. It’s on the Other Sides album, I believe.
Along with "Hand in Hand" this is my favorite Phil Collins. What an absolute jam! It has it all- distinctive, smooth, even articulate saxophone, (Stuermer's) searing guitar on cue, and Collins' powerful drum display. Collins music never got jazzier, much to the disappointment of many fans. I wished he'd have put our lots more like this, but it didn't last through his solo career, regrettably.
i can't be tired to watch this ! never ! what a drummer , and at this time he was at his best indeed. Remember walking on the pedestrians crossing with Leland Sklar in Paris ... LOL (wish it would have been PC but not sure he would have been alone then)
That's music, real musicians playing live with their fingers ! And the most amazing to me is Chester Thompson playing this pattern non stop on his hi-hat cymbals all the way, like a metronome, whatever the rest of the band does !
I LOVE this performance... I have the whole Seriously Live In Berlin DVD concert... It's awsome... That's the way people should do concerts... Thanks for posting !
RIP Don Myrick. I heard of him collaborating on 2 albums with El DeBarge. Those albums are "Gemini", released in 1989, and "In The Storm", released in 1992.
Absolutely! Collins' (and when alongside longtime sessioinist Chester Thompson) drumming is one of the most overlooked of recent rock history, both solo and w/ Genesis. He gets a bad rap for resorting to push button instrumentation in his latter solo years, which if you think about it is well deserved. Why would you replace the powerful drumming of Collins' early solo efforts for some muzack drumming? But this video is a testament that that hasn't always been Collins. Fabulous video.
i'm trying to find a ved of a kickass phil collins solo , it's from his solo career i think it's in this concert, it's the best solo collins ever played..great drummer
I agree with you... soon I hope to upload "Hand in Hand" and "Saturday night and Sunday morning" from the same tour in Berlin... Those songs are semi-instrumental too
L’extra terrestre qui joue la guitare basse: bin, ban, bi, ban. Ces notes suffisent pour exposer son génie. Le génie est dans la simplicité et non dans la complexité.

Um verdadeiro show, tanto nos metais, como na bateria,no baixo,na guitarra,o show do sax maravilhosa sinfonia, uma das mais belos show.
I could watch him drum all day long... so natural. Superb....love the whole dvd/cd.
Excellent! The last section reminds me a great deal of some of Phil's work in Brand X.
Exactly - this is the kind of jazz-fusion stuff he was doing in the 70s and early 80s, before syrupy ballads took over.
That's music, real musicians playing live with their fingers !

Don Myrick. Wonderful musician.

How drumming is meant to be done like in a session...love it
I heard of Don Myrick playing for Earth Wind & Fire. RIP Genius
they were the best in the business, which is why I think Phil wanted them.

Gives me chills everytime. Definitely one of the best live performances he has ever done. Brilliant!

Un tour de force à chaque fois pour cette tournée

Amen brother! Long live memories like this and the late, great Keith Moon.

Brann Dailor from Mastadon is always championing Phil Collins on drums, he says no one floated around a kit so effortlessly
I agree! When I saw a Genesis concert in Orlando in --- what was it, 1986, I think? Watching Phil and Chester together was an experience. Great sound.
i'm trying to find a ved of a kickass phil collins solo , it's from his solo career i think it's in this concert, it's the best solo collins ever played..great drummer

Don Myrick had a pretty awesome solo and Phil Collins was great at those drums. But did you guys notice Chester Thompson kept things on tempo?
