I came for the music today and stayed to watch the Seriously Live in Berlin 1990 concert. I miss this guy. Growing up in the 80's listening to Genesis and Collins was a magical time.
Whatever music you liked the most didn't matter. Phil Collins was part of your life when you grew up in the 80s whether you liked him or not. Musical genius capable of writing the catchiest pop songs and providing the best drum parts too.
A Phil Collins Hit, that truly aged well, and one that is known around the world. From such an iconic album, the amount of energy it still gives out, is unexplainable. You can't be a Collins fan without liking this track. One of my favorite verisons of it, especially in his best tour. Hope you've been doing well legend! 👑

Oh - those horn arrangements! Undoubtedly one of the most talented singer/songwriter/drummer/producers in modern times. He will be truly missed. Haters gonna hate because people like to take shots at those on top. And he WAS the top! Check out his big band work for a real appreciation of his pedigree.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. The song, In Too Deep, is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight, Land of Confusion, and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
I agree with your sentiment to a good extent. However there are plenty of artists in the last 15 years who will be listened to in 25 years. This era and the eras before will also be listened to though. Talent is timeless

I attended this very concert when I was in Europe sure to the crisis and dissolution of Yugoslavia. I wish Mr Collins and his associates remastered these video images - which were captured using the available 240i analog recording system of that time. Although the original images have its intrinsic value, a remastered version, using AI, would give a very different result and valuable memory of the best show ever thrown by Phil Collins and his band

Well, I've been to a concert of "Muse" and the audience was dancing and singing along like crazy. So yes, you still get that participation today.
