I honestly think his degree of isolation is compounding things; he's been controlling his little corner of the internet for so long he can't consider his word NOT being law, and he's so used to having control over everything that he can't cope when he strays into areas where he doesn't have control (i.e. everywhere else). It's astonishing how malignant his narcissism has become - in the video I realise I'm not going to run out of clips to use, but while I was editing it all together the full significance of that dawned on me, most narcissists don't get this far because most narcissists socialise more, so they experience more social conflicts and more social consequences, while Phil has just festered away, that's why there's so much material to choose from.
He’d want a biography written about him, but it’d be so heavily censored that there wouldn’t be any point reading it. I can imagine him copy editing with a big red marker pen, shouting “didn’t happen!”

It was a nightmare to edit, and PigPigGo only searches to May, so for anything newer I had to go to each individual stream and search through the generated transcripts to find what I was looking for (the "40 is over the hill" bit took fucking forever to find), but I think it was worth the effort. Plus the intro has the best wanking joke I'll ever make, so...
I think I'm probably one of the few people who actually wants to read Phil's biography, preferably his autobiography, because I feel like I could write an amazing thesis on it. If nothing else, he'd be a great case study into untreated malignant narcissism, and should probably have a place in medical history reserved as a warning for future generations.

It's rather concerning that of all the allegations, Phil prioritises putting out a bad tweet as the one that "gets [him] the most". So he considers a bad take as being worse than threatening violence against an 11 year old girl, disrespectfully making public his partner's mental state, or grooming his fans.

Well, to be fair, that was near the end of the debunk stream so he had already been over all of those things previously and was rounding everything up, but in my defense, "didn't happen" is basically the tl;dr of his reasoning for literally every point anyway, so I was just saving myself the effort of having to do the video editing equivalent of using "[...]" in a text quote. I also used it because how he reads it makes "a bad tweet" seem like the joke ending to a serious list, like if you had a comedy sketch of a police officer listing the charges of a criminal and it's all "arson, burglary, possession of stolen goods, theft of a car, leading police on a high speed chase, endangering the public, criminal damage as a result of the crash, and wiggling his todger at a group of nuns whilst fleeing the scene of the crash", you know?
I'm glad you enjoyed it and that you found it entertaining, especially the bits where I was deliberating on my reasoning; ironically, those are the bits you deliberate over keeping in, because there's always the chance your audience will be like "come on man, the answer's obvious!", when what you're trying to do is show that there are usually other perspectives or paths of reasoning that can lead to different results, and it's worth considering those as well when you're making a decision. I'm really relieved to hear they didn't detract (buh-dum) from the video, thank you.

First and foremost, Phil's a coward. Whenever the chance arrives to put something off or have someone else deal with it, he's taking it. He stokes confrontation then panics when it arrives. £10 says he was bullied at school and never got over it. Life hit him in the face and he never adapted. Or maybe he's always been this.
I think he’s been coddled all his life, his parents kept him sheltered, and spoiled him rotten when he was a kid.. all the way well into his adulthood- id even say they still support him too. He never had to accept responsibility, or be held accountable. Especially when you hear his story about his college days, and the fire on campus story..he tells ridiculous lies, and he has no self awareness to know others aren’t buying it. He can’t read a room to save his life, he just throws a temper tantrum to escape any responsibility.
Yeah, I also get the impression that he was bullied at school, though I can't remember him talking much about his elementary/secondary school experiences, it's usually his being in college if he discusses stuff like that. I'm gonna have to check PigPigGo and see what I can find...

Really enjoying these analyses of Phil. It's good to know because Phil isn't the only narcissist out there. In fact I am pretty sure my mom might be one.
Oh dear, that's not good to hear. I hope you have some support available to you; if not (and I can't believe I'm about to recommend this) then the people on reddit's "raised by narcissists" subreddit might be able to point you in the direction better than I can. I know, reddit can often be trash, but that's the site as a whole while generally the more niche subcommunities tend to be really good reference points for information about that particular niche because they're more focused, and RBN is one of the better-moderated subreddits, so they might be a good place to start.
Of course, I'm assuming this is recent, it's just occurred to me that you might be grown up and have moved out and are mentioning her from the perspective of someone who's managed to recover because it's been years since you lived with her, in which case I hope she didn't have too much impact on your life and that you're doing much better now that you're free of her influence. Hey, great video and thanks for some new "khantent".
Some things I want to point out:
1. There is no such thing as "diagnosing someone as a narcissist". Narcissism is not a mental disorder (NPD is), it's a personality trait. Saying that someone is a narcissist is, in my opinion, the same as saying that someone is e.g. a lazy person. So there's no ethical issues as long as you're making the distinction between NPD and Narcissism as seperate constructs clear.
2. Obviously, there's a flaw with using a self-assessment questionnaire for evaluation of someone else's behavior. I'd be a huge stickler for saying that this is terrible methodology but after searching for external assessment tools, your options are seemingly non-existent.
3. I'm wondering why you're having such a difficult time with the question of DSP demanding respect. I only need to remember everytime Phil feels someone has done him wrong and he demands a compeltely ludicrous apology from them (most recently the twitch unpartnering) and giving them an ultimatum to respond. If that doesn't scream insisting on getting respected I don't know what does.

1: Yeah, that's a fair point: I was using "narcissist" as a bit of an umbrella term for narcissism/NPD and other related terminology, but I assumed that was a given and should've made it a bit more explicit which terminology I was using and where. I'll bear that in mind in future.
2: There's not really as many assessment tools for NPD as there are for other mental illnesses and personality disorders, which I suspect is because denial and deception are so core to the disorder that it's difficult to design an assessment method that can effectively account for that (but don't hold me to that), plus again the disclaimer of "this should really be administered by someone who's actually interviewing the patient one-on-one" and that everything here is my personal interpretation of Phil's recorded history rather than as the result of a series of interviews and tests with him in person. I wish I could've done it seriously, but it's just impossible to do so, and as a result I decided to not worry about how awful my methodology was. Like the channel "The Narc Alert" says, "it's just a bit of messy fun", so I went more with "I'll just pick a bunch of clips and explain why, rather than try to seriously analyse things" for this one.
3: Okay, so, when I came to this question I figured that the regular assumption would be that everyone who would take the test would socialise to, if not a normal amount then at least around that area; most people who are either taking it for themselves, being forced to take it, or taking it with someone else in mind, would be doing so because of social interactions with others that seem a bit off somehow, and that those social interactions would be taking place within regular social contexts and at a "normal" amount of times. But Phil is abnormal in this regard; he's insular and isolated to a huge extent, and the majority of his social interactions take place within this tiny circle of contacts, and the majority of those contacts are going to be online in some fashion, they're going to be in an environment that he controls, and they're going to be people that he expects certain behavioural standards from. Along with that, Phil has had a massive amount of shit from people online, something that pretty much every other subject of the "test" will not have experienced, and that's the sort of thing that can change a person's perspective on whether they "expect" or they "get" respect from others. Basically, since DSP's socialisation is so abnormal compared to most other people taking the test, I figured that could change the context of the question and the perspective the answer could be reached from, so I gave it a bit more consideration than other answers.

Re 3: I can now understand why you thought about it as long as you did and I have to agree with you somewhat. It's a difficult question to answer on the spot and for someone else. But even if we're approaching the question differently, the results likely wouldn't change. At the very least, DSP is very self-centered and you can come up with countless examples of how that manifests in his behaviors on stream. We can only hope this doesn't translate into his everyday behavior and seriously starts to hurt those few left around him.
I have a friendly suggestion - if you're interested you could check out the dynamic between Rambo/Howard and DSP if you like. Especially during the final days and the video that Rambo uploaded, there's a lot to unpack there.

one thing I noticed that I'm sure you'll mention is; Kat is rarely called Kat by phil, she's always "my wife" or "my family", possibly as a sign that he's dehumanising her when she's not around to hear it?
I mean if I was being generous, I'd say he just doesn't call her by her name to herself and because she's the only person he talks to he's gotten out of the habit of it, but still it's really weird.
Nah, that's stupid. I'm pretty sure it's just that he feels it's too personal to call her by name to a stranger. I know it's not as fun of an answer but it seems to make the most sense to me.
Also, I want to add that Phil often gets angry if you get into his "personal" life without him initiating it or giving it the okay. That might also have to do with it.
I did briefly mention it in an earlier video, but I think it's generally the result of him thinking of certain domestic duties being exclusively the responsibility of the women in his life. Considering Phil's life experience thus far, when growing up his household seems fairly traditional, in that the Father was the main provider and was often busy with work, while the Mother did the stuff like the cooking and the cleaning and all the other emotional labour involved in raising a family. As Phil's really only had two relationships and doesn't socialise that much outside of his streams, his concepts of what are "his jobs" and what are "the woman of the household's jobs" haven't really evolved much beyond this traditionalist perspective, and since for the majority of his life the woman of the household has been his Mum, the mental shortcut linking, say, "cooking" with "Mum does this" is much stronger and will be defaulted to much easier than newer shortcuts (especially given the brain's already trying to erase the shortcuts that all link back to Pandalee, so that's an extra effort the brain has to consider). So yeah, to me it's likely that it's his brain using the shortcuts it's used for most of his life instead of the ones it should be using now, though I'm going to be expanding on it a bit more in a video about him and his relationships.
@@intercoursehandguns851 it's not that unrealistic, especially if you're someone like Phil who's always so defensive when it comes to criticism of his personal life and any sort of hint that he might actually be a failure in the eyes of others. Phil hasn't failed and his life isn't shit because he's an adult and can prove it as he has a job, a house, bills to pay, and a wife. These are all things that adults have, that people approaching forty have, that people whose lives aren't failures have, so how symbolic these roles are is amplified at the cost of removing everything else that's contextual to them: where his money actually comes from, where it goes, and the fact that his wife is an individual with a name and her own beliefs and desires and agency who might not unilaterally support him every time. So I can see why they might suggest that Phil's dehumanising Kat when he refers to her as "my wife", and by the way, Kat agrees with me...

Watching this as a fellow psycholist, I disagree with you on him being unhappy or neutral on how he looks. All his pre-stream shit has his face in it. Drawings, horribly photoshopped images that no sane person would ever dare to put out. I think he's very much inlove with himself, he has that classic narcissistic style of talking about how much better he looks now, talking about how he's less fat than years ago even though he's obviously overweight and he has some flabby arms.

As a fan of collectibles, Phil's comment on amiibo sounds extra idiotic. To my understanding, toys are in production for about two to three years before they're released. If you look at, say, the Masters of the Universe Origins and Masterverse lines (both I'm a personal fan of), Mattel are likely working on figures now that we won't see until 2024/2025 (assuming those lines last that long). Phil makes it sound like Nintendo quickly rushed out amiibo to compensate for the low sales of the WiiU, when in reality work on them likely began in 2011 or 2012, either before the WiiU's release or shortly after and before there were signs of the console failing. It's a small nitpick, but the degree of expertise with which he boasts about it just annoys me a little more.
Also, the fact that they're compatible with the console and the console has some way of reading whatever's on the base of them that has the relevant data on it shows that integration with them was planned as the console was being developed. There wasn't a Wii-U 2 rushed out after a year that had Amiibo compatibility newly added in, it was always in there.
@@ArchangelSteve A very good point. There was no addon needed for it like the 3DS, and that's likely because the 3DS was too far along/done by the time work began.
I'd have less of an issue with Phil if he wasn't such as massive bellend with the way he talks about things, acting like he knows more than the experts or people with something more than base level knowledge. It's one thing to weigh in on a topic with minimal information, but the lack of humility and "I could be mistaken about this so correct me if I'm wrong" type of viewpoint is what gets under my skin.

So having watched this completely, instead of just pausing to riff (bravo on you for actually enduring all the clips needed to make this), the only one I disagree with is the "respect" one. I do not believe Phil believes that he gets the respect that he's owed, so he'd take the other option by default. I say this because his monkier "king of hate" is premised on him getting an above-average quantity of disrespect, and because of his take on that old saying about assholes; he thinks it goes "If everyone you meet is an asshole, you're letting people take advantage of you" (and why would he change it like that unless he was talking about himself?)
