    Sometimes they are poor and live in the slums, but their children work as doctors, dentists, nurses, engineers, IT professionals, or civil servants. But they refused to move out. Because they love where their live.Their society and friends who have been together for a long time. Some people have houses in other provinces. 😊

    Thai people, although their income is not much, we also have very little expenses because everyone can receive medical services and receive free medical treatment. All our children receive free education and lunch including milk to drink every day even on school holidays and many other very cheap things like food. Therefore, even though Thai people do not have a small income compared to developed countries, Thailand is able to provide its citizens with a good quality of life while the income is not very high.

      Lol, it's obviously not true. Even countries with larger economies than Thailand struggle with all the stuff you listed. People are usually egoistic; it doesn't depend on race or country. So, if medical service, education, etc., are free, it sucks so much. Want something better? Put bucks on the table.
      In this case, people live in the slums, and it's not a choice at all. Doesn't it suck when your family has a lot of health issues, but you can't pay for their medical treatment? Or when your child goes to the nearest public school with extremely old, uneducated teachers because no one who's educated, smart, young, and ambitious is willing to teach there for a minimum salary? So, are you still going to choose live in the slums with 10 penny in the pocket? Nope.
      Want to see the world? -pay. want a better education? -pay. want to try yourself as a photographer? -pay for equipment. want to try yourself as a programmer? -pay for the computer, if you don't have one (most people can't afford that at all). Need some freaking pills that will save your life? - pay, a lot. want to live in a better flat? -pay. if you want to start a new occupation, give your children a nice future, well, at least a good start, care about your health, live a damn good life, you have to pay for everything and a lot of money. because everyone others are egoistic, and will rather buy a sixth Ferrari for themselves. whoever that might be, politicians, entrepreneurs, celebrities.
      Poor society is not really happy. they just accepted the reality they live in.
      Poverty is not pretty, and Thailand is not that as you describe

    My experience of Thai people is that they are, in general, happier than most people in the west. Whether they have a lot or a little they seem to take life as it comes and deal with it with a smile and a spring in their step.

      If they have alot they have usually ripped some poor foreigner off. Life's lesson never get involved with a bar girl they will take everything you have. I have been going to Thailand for 18 years and some of the story's I have heard are terrible. These girls will suck every penny they can get and when you cannot provide anymore they move onto their next victim.
      But fair play to the decent Thai people who go out and do a proper days work and build their own houses etc.

    In Thailand, the government does not provide financial assistance if you are not working. Financial assistance is primarily given to the elderly and people with disabilities, but the number of recipients is very small. Therefore, every Thai person must have a job in order to survive. In Thailand, we have a belief that 'if you don't choose a job, you won't starve.'Thai people are generally known for their generosity, especially towards foreigners, as they prefer not to be seen in a negative light. Thai people tend to be polite and not engage in impolite behavior with strangers because it could lead to conflicts.

You are also showing Thais the positive side of Farangs - we need more of this. Yes, I have been to some of these areas and yes, it looks like they don't have very much, but the entire family will be sitting around a 75" HD TV watching the evening soaps - its all about priorities and sometimes these are significantly different to those of Western cultures.

    Thai people would not meet my personal definition of the word poor by any means. Wealth has much more to do with the value in your life than it does with monetary status. Value in the sense of your personal relationships, your faith, your passions, and your cultural practices. Those things can add an incredible amount of happiness to your life, and your bank account means nothing in comparison. The Thai people have such a vibrant energy. They exude a loving humanity whether it be through feeding you, helping you find where you're going, or talking to you about the weather. Makes them more wealthy than a lot of other populations in a lot of ways in my opinion.

    My opinion may be different because I come from a third world country.
    You are looking at it from the perspective of "they have food, a roof, a nice tv, they are not poor", but it is a little more complicated than that.
    It is about accessibility, if they have a sudden expense can they solve it easily or they have to borrow money or even accept defeat. I see it every time I travel to the countryside in Thailand.
    Myself, I make 6 figures, then when I'm in Thailand I always stay in Bang Rak area then my Thai friends( old classmates while I did my master in China) think I'm rich , but we know for US or Europe standards I'm not rich, but in Thailand any eventually related to money I can solve it easily, however somebody that get 6k baht a month with a job that pay day by day, I'm not sure if they have the solvency for everything 🤷🏽‍♂️
    Just my opinion as somebody coming from a country that is equivalent to Thailand.

      We have free education, free medical care that would take away 2 main burdens of your living cost. If you are really poor there are many social aids organization you can go to. They have programs to help support your needs from jobs, accommodation, even free foods are hand out everyday in some area , or if you happen to be in the worst state of your life you can go to any Buddhist temple people there will help you out.
      These things are rare in other country but it is exist in Thailand.

    • @frankom2862
      @frankom2862 Рік тому

      @@minkstudio604 I love Thailand and Thai people.
      Now said that, in my country we also have free food, free education, free healthcare care, that's good but still there is poverty, even having those programs, they don't reach everyone and never fulfil everybody's needs. Being poor is not pretty not cool, I don't understand why do you romanticize poverty? Like being poor is great 🤦🏽‍♂️
      Some people accept and embrace their poverty.
      I have seen it in Thailand as well and if these programs are so good, why is prostitution still so prolific or are people selling drugs and doing illegal things? Why is it not like Singapore?

    • @minkstudio604
      @minkstudio604 Рік тому

      @@frankom2862 I did not romanticize the poverty. You have to admit the reality that all human in the world are not and will not be equal no matter how hard you try to. There will always have someone rich someone poor depends on their ability to make money, their living and working attitude. They have each of their own karma. Even first world country like US and EU are full of homeless and beggar and junkies on the streets maybe more than in our country. Singapore seems to be better but the truth is they have dictator government that can make very strict law for their people so Singaporean are not the happiest citizens. We human must be happy and be sorrow in our life from time to time that is the fact.
      My point is, there is no way to make people all equally rich and content, but there are many way to make all people equally poor. One is by the bad government. I don’t know what country are you from, if you have bad government you might have to make a civil movement to change it, if not ,or if you can’t , you might have to accept the reality and make the most of what you have now. Work harder elevate yourself and try to get out of that place. This is the fact of life and the most common answer to this problem.

    • @frankom2862
      @frankom2862 Рік тому

      @@minkstudio604 So, I believe we agree?
      I think you think I'm saying Thai is a bad country, then I never say that, maybe is a language miss communication, I think Thailand is a great country, thats why most of the year I spend it there, and my wife is Chinese, not Thai.
      My point is that I disagree with people celebrating poverty. I love Keis videos and think he is one of the best youtubers around, and he has every right to express himself.
      My country is good, and the administration is neither wonderful nor bad. I'm rich, and my countrymates are largely well-off, given that when I traveled to Asia, it was the first time I noticed poor people, because in Latin America, where I live and travelled, I used to ignore them, saying they were poor because they're happy being poor.
      I was wrong.
      Now, when I see people mention that if you had health care, free education, and some food on the table, being poor is a refreshing and enjoyable time, it touches me a little because I used to be like that, and now I care and respect what I have more.
      Singaporeans are unhappy with their government, yet you should ask them if they want to change with the people from Bangladesh who come to work as servants there.
      My cousin is a millionaire, and she is always talking about how difficult life is when you are rich, and she always says "less you have more happiness," but she doesn't quit her millions haha.

      @@frankom2862 Actually, I did not accused you that you hated Thailand. I just simply told you some information of my country that might help you to understand some of the Thais point of view. In Thailand we have taught by Buddha that human needs only 4 essential things to survive. Air, food, cloth, medicine. Other than that is an excess baggage / luxury thing. You can have it if you are able to but do not hold on to it as it is just a temporary value. If you have more you should give more, helping others who have less is the main concept of the teaching here, that’s why Thai people always be a giver as you’ve seen in many videos.
      Thais are also taught about being ‘sufficient’ the meaning is we look into ourself, know who we are, what we can do and do whatever we can to improve our life our status without harming or hurting others. With this concept some of us can be happy with themselves knowing they have done their best and live their life on what they have with peace of mind even though they may look poor in the eyes of the others.
      I don’t think this is call romanticizing the poverty. They just accepted the reality of their life and live on. I speak on behalf of Thais in general not all ,though.

    There isn't much safety net for those who are poor in Thailand, and this includes old people. For example there is a very low payment made to old people, which isn't called a pension. Obviously when you get old (and maybe suffer poor health), you may not be able to work and thus having even a small amount of regular money to just pay for the basics may be difficult. Then there are people who may not have a Thai ID card, and again these people are disadvantaged as they would not have access to health care and find it hard to get legal work. An interesting though: there are more poor people in the world than anyone else; worth contemplating. On the other hand Thais are generous people and will help others less fortunate than themselves. We always do some charity in Thailand and if others did the same the world would be a better place. Simply giving away your recycle stuff rather than selling it would help someone less fortunate than you!
