Another winner Andy. Thanks for being one of the few youtube modelers from the USA. I really wish the hobby was as big here as it is overseas. You are certainly doing your part to grow the hobby here.
Thanks for the kit and build review. I have the low sides gondola in my stash for a WWll build I am gathering up everything for. I also like the what to watch out for parts. Good series.
If you wanna keep the wheels spinning without messing up the alignment, built the chassis upside down, built the floor plate first, glue on one of the side frames, slide in the axles, align the other side frame, and glue it to the floor plate, align and glue the braking rods; reinforce with the buffer beams. P/S: also a nice way to glue on the brake shoes is by using a wheel with some paper shims on both side, press on the brake shoes until they clamp tight, when you remove the shims, all the brake shoes should have an equal distance to the wheels
You are so lucky to live near to Andy's shop. I am several thousand miles away so will probably never get a chance to go and meet him or see his shop. I guess I will just have to watch the videos and enjoy them.
+jjab99 hey Jjab what part of the world do you live in? I am fortunate, Andy's is just a couple of miles from where I live in Glendale AZ. I've been to some of the other Hobby Shops in the metroPhoenux area and Andy has the best selection and prices by far. Take care and happy modeling! Joe Mays
Hello Andy. A suggestion. The rims of the wheels, the tread, should be bright bare steel, since they roll over steel rail, both the treads and the top of the rail don't gather rust. Conversely, the sides of the rails and the sides of the wheels should be rusty. Neither the rail nor the wheels are ever painted and the bare steel rusts starting at day one. Great job on the rest of the cars.
Looking awesome Andy!!!! Thanks for all the techniques and tips. Time to invest in some additional NATO black as it appears u spray that first on EVERYTHING HAHAHAHA
Andy, after watching your videos on the diorama, I decided to get the Dragon 1:35 German Railway Flatbed Typ Ommr 2 Axle w MG Crew Plastic Kit #6085. The problem is there are no rail tracks with the kit. Do you know where I can get a set to mount the model after I have finished it? Enjoy your channel and hints. Thanks for the help.
Is there anyway you can compare the wheels to g scale/1 gauge? I want to know how much modification will be necessary to make these run on g scale track ( are the wheels too wide for the track or too narrow?)
Thank you very much for the reply, I missed all that information before but those colors work good thank you. Im going to use the same for an opel truck too , thank you for the help I didnt know how to get a wood look with airbrushing thanks.
Andy! Are you going to make the brake hoses out of rubber tube so that they can be coupled together ( remove the molded plastic pieces and substitute some flexible, black rubber tubing )? You made the couplers as working parts so the brake lines could be as well. ;o) Super nice attention to detail you have going on this one!
can't wait to see this dio. One quick question, I've seen how you thin your paints. Will that work on the Tamiya clear colors as well or should I just spray from the bottle?
Quite strange fact is that these wagons, flat & gondola, look outspanned, about 1/30 scale or even more, just compare the size of wooden planks , wheels, bumpers and hooks with vehicles: the Blitz and artillery seems a Morris Ten pickup, the light tank instead seems rather 1/48 scale . The building also seems conducted in reverse, would it not be better to paint separately frame, axles wheels? Wouldn’t it be better to leave bumpers and hook for last and glue them already painted? Moreover why a coat of black “primer” before a pale gray and wood brown & Grau? It’s ok maybe as a preshading on the “shadowed” parts like the interior corners but is a contradiction, if your aim is to damp the light color it just can be made with a dark wash if necessary, it’s absurd to cover a black primed surface with lighter colors. By converse it seems loufouque to blacken an already camouflaged truck...I agree a modeler is not Edward Hopper, but...17:31 subliminal message ? the bottle is visible 1/100 of a second. 17:46 we see only the hairy wrist, not the work of hairy stick...
Andy I notice that you are talking during spray painting. Do you not wear a mask when you airbrush? Just curious as I thought the fumes can be dangerous. Keep up the great videos!
I think acrylics aren't dangerous, as I spray them in my room with no trouble. Enamels however are extremely potent and toxic and require a mask. Good ventilation is a must either way. Stay safe!
Unfortunately this model is absolute fantasy. Nothing in common with reality, at least nothing with DR Om car. Bumpers and hooks way too thick, pressure hoses in strange angle, no proper underframe, labeling way too large and completely unrealistic. But you've made the best out of it, I like the video.

Did You finish the build up of your diorama ? He should be Nice
Is there anyway you can compare the wheels to g scale/1 gauge? I want to know how much modification will be necessary to make these run on g scale track ( are the wheels too wide for the track or too narrow?)
please make a full train. these models are amazing. are you adding a locomotive. you should build the BR with smoke deflectors and the small switcher
thanks you, I'm trying to get the locomotive, its out of stock.
+Andy's Hobby Headquarters AWSOME. I hope you can find one
Hi Andy, what locomotive will you be building for the diorama. keep up the excellent videos.
not sure yet maybe just a switcher
Building up a consis I'd go for the Br 52 armoured, I've go the massive mortar CW rail carriage
On the rail car with the truck on have you thought about putting oil stains where it could of leaked out of the vehicle
yes when I do I have a new oil stain product from vallejo I want to try
The painting is great .nice work.
I like the colors that were used do you use tamiya paints?
yes I used xf22 for body color
Thank you very much for the reply,
I missed all that information before but those colors work good thank you.
Im going to use the same for an opel truck too ,
thank you for the help I didnt know how to get a wood look with airbrushing thanks.
Do you use primers and if not why not and wow nice model.

great work by the way.
greetings maurice
Thank you, I spray at 22-25 psi
What is the music?
can't wait to see this dio. One quick question, I've seen how you thin your paints. Will that work on the Tamiya clear colors as well or should I just spray from the bottle?
no I would thin clear the same way
