Wow he really stress tested it! This is definitely the first Apple watch I've considered. I don't have an iPhone though so I think I'd miss out on a lot of the functionality.

I’m a regular watch guy too. Breitling, Omega, Tissot, etc. When I got the Ultra recently I stopped wearing anything else except a Apple #7 when the Ultra is charging. 😁 I’ve ordered some extra bands that are cheap but look really good. I can recommend the Ultra without reservations.
Hey bro! I ended up here because of the yellow strap and watch your review was so satisfying because I’m either a regular watch guy who was afraid of smartwatches hahaha. I bought mine today exactly like yours (yellow strap) to “replace” my daily g-shock. I miss some tech features so the gps tracking to mtb trails and smart notifications makes me did it. I bought last year my Tag Heuer Aquaracer Orange dial 43mm which makes me in love everyday I wear it. Tks mate!
Awesome to see this here! I ordered the trail loop version although both the ocean band and alpine loop that you have look great. I'm more excited about mine now that I know you're enjoying your's so much. The night vision mode looks fantastic

As cool as the alpine loop is I think I'm going to return it and get the trail loop instead bc i tried it on and it was one of the most comfortable straps i've ever worn! And yeah i love keeping it the night vision mode on, it makes the watch feel so different
I'm also a huge watch guy, made videos like yours in the past. I also just bought an Apple Watch Ultra, but with the white alpine loop. It wears nicely, it has good battery life for what it does. It actually looks cool and as a watch guy it has nice features and details that remind me of actual watches. I love it. Keep it up!
It's always great to hear you thoughts TWI regardless of the movement or power. It certainly looks like a great fun watch. Unfortunately it's not for me as I do not have an iPhone. I've nothing against a smart watch as I've been known to wear a fitness watch on one wrist and a 'normal' watch on the other. Who knows what the future holds though, maybe I might end up with an iPhone at some point in which case maybe an Apple watch might turn up.

I must say that the utility of an apple watch is pretty immense and I'm even thinking that I might buy the cheapest apple watch to be a glorified fitness tracker so that I can pair that with any of my other watches. I just wish an iphone wasn't required to use an apple watch since it's the weakest link for me lol!

Apple make some great stuff without a doubt but for what I need I have all the electric pixies doing what that I need for now, I could change to an iPhone at some point but right now for the outlay there might be another watch that I might want to adopt instead, I have a what looks to be a discontinued model in mind but we shall see. For me it's also the wrong time of year to spend with the winter holidays just around the corner.

I’ve got an Apple Watch (series 6) and I really like it. Mostly gets used for work (work in health care) and the gym. I’ll be honest, it gets more wrist time than most of my actual watches. The functionality is crazy and I use so many functions on it. I don’t care about the Watch community hate. I think even a “watch guy” can love smart watches too. I saw the ultra released and thought about trading in my 6 to upgrade but I’m still kind of undecided. Anyway, I am glad you reviewed this on your channel, even though smart watches are so hated among watch enthusiasts.

The utility of a smart watch / apple watch is undeniable and it's already to the point where I'm wondering if I would want to buy an SE to wear on the right wrist alongside my main watch on my left! For me I love the design and the tool watchiness of the Ultra which was the final push for purchasing it so it excites me as a watch and it's sad to see the hate for smart watches because I see them as just another kind of watch and another kind of tool watch at that. I used to think the Ultra was too big, until I tried it on in person. Its not that big. The videos and pics don't do it justice at all. Its an amazing watch.

My brain really got thinking when I saw the new SE starts at 250 and since its role would be a glorified fitness tracker on my right wrist it just makes sense!
I would love to own one , but it's just too large for my wrists. I do recreational climbing and diving when on vacation so this would be a great addition. Hope they can make a slightly smaller version with the next generation, maybe then I'll pick one up.

I love the same strap I have mine the Midnight color. Ive tried different straps but always return back to the ocean strap due to extreme comfort and adjustability.
The alpine loop is good but I'm going to return it to get the trail loop BUT considering how comfy the ocean band is I might just get the midnight version to have a more chill looking combo lol. It's seriously the most comfortable strap I've worn and I'm glad that you're enjoying yours!

Absolutely love my Ultra! My Tudor FXD , GMT & Chrono haven't been used the last week since getting this watch! Totally agree best rubber strap I've ever owned. Very impressed. The past Apple Watch didn't get wrist time as it just felt like a gimmick, but the ultra feels like a proper watch.
Ahhhh the FXD is so awesome I've been on the edge of getting that for a while now! Such a unique experience on that one. Yeah agreed on how amazing the ultra feels bc for me as cool as it looks and as great the functions are if it wasn't comfortable I just would wear it. Apple did well on this one!

You might be surprised, being connected to your smartphone/internet 24/7 by wearing a smart watch has massive diminishing returns on value. Checking to see who texted you or emailed you a split second after receiving it isn't going to make or break anything in most people's lives. If anything you're constantly being distracted by pseudo-productivity from checking your smart watch all the time. Also charging the watch every day is annoying and again, consuming your time, can't remember the last time I had to wait to use my Seiko. Mechanical watches bring a good balance to the digital world we're being forcefully pushed into. I've had an apple watch since gen 1, stainless steel edition at that, stopped at series 7 and don't miss it at all.

A apple watch or any kind of smart watch ⌚ will never be on my wrist a phone is more than enough . All I see 👀 on people's wrists are smart watches I remember a time when Seiko Skx were all over the place. It's just not something I wouldn't get enjoyment out of and be like everyone else. I don't give 2 shits about the functions. I'll stick with my Explorer 1,Seiko prospex SPB153,Submariner 14060m and soon to be Sinn 144stsa. It's really refreshing to see something besides a smart watch on someone's wrist
yeah I'm not much of a fan of the original apple watch so thankfully this one is as different as can be! For me having the apple watch is helpful bc now I don't need to keep my phone with me all the time, the watch gives me the basics without the extra distractions!
Because it’s a good watch! You can try to be as different as you want but there’s a reason why no one is seen in a Samsung watch! And if they are no one cares

Last year I bought my galaxy watch 3 classic mainly for work. I look at it no different than buying a g shock tbh. I carry it with me, use it at work and switch watches after my shift.
i guess to each their own bc i love wearing my gshocks because they offer such a different experience from all my other watches! This Ultra does the same thing for me, but maybe if it was for work it would put a damper on it lol

Yeah that's very much the way I was before, I never really saw the point of a smart watch but the utility as a tool is actually adding to the allure of the Ultra! I have a love hate relationship with the Apple Watch. I love the display that lights up at night (I work outside at night). I like the weather widget and the ease of strap change. What I don't like: It needs a charging cord/station, its a rectangle, the crown is easy to pushdown inadvertently, the watch has no heft and therefore no durability (I cracked the corner after a month and had to buy a protective case in order to protect the whole watch).
The utility of an apple watch is great for sure so it sounds to me like you need to get the Ultra! Other than the charging and it being a rectangle, the crown guard makes it much harder to inadvertently push in the crown and then it's miles more durable than the standard apple watch. Check out iupdate's torture test, the screen never cracked and a lot of it was down to the bezel!
The world timer on my Apple watch scratches the itch until I figure out what I want and having the funds to buy it. Right now, I think I will go the vintage route for a worldtimer.
Yeah the world timer dial is really awesome just to see the dial move around and to get the look, for me that's about as much as I need! But yeah there are some pretty amazing world timers in the vintage world!
To each their own but I wouldn't be able to stomach paying 1-2k or more on a smart watch! The Ultra definitely won't be lasting forever but lots of people tend to use apple watches for quite a few years without issues which sounds pretty good to me for a gadget!

It’s become my everyday watch even though I have 23 others, including 12 G-shocks. 😂 But, the reason I’m responding is to tell you I still have my series 3 (stainless) and it has NOT had any problems whatsoever, including the battery. I don’t see it as obsolete or out-of-date. Sure, technology has advanced, but my series 3 still perfectly performs the tasks that it was designed to perform. The Ultra is essentially a wrist computer and will someday need to be replaced as any computer will. But, do we stick with typewriters to avoid obsolescence? Nope. I love both “regular” watches and smart watches. I don’t understand the division and anger that smart watches tend to bring out in traditionalists. Rather random, but there you have it! 😆
My man….. this watch here is the jay-z of Apple Watches. It’s incredible. I don’t have to charge it everyday, it’s built like Arnold Schwarzenegger coked up on steroids and it does EVERYTHING. Then other Apple Watches is toys in comparison to this. Apple didn’t come to play on this. I love mine!!!!!!!

I had the same reaction when I got my first AW. It was amazing. But after about a year I realized all that functionality is a pain in the ass to manage. I still wear my AW at work, but have had a change of heart. I like my traditional watches better.
@T H yeah it's entirely possible that the novelty of the Ultra will wear off quickly but given the design I think it'll hold up well. That being said I definitely will want to wear my other watches in due time so I'm actually considering getting the SE to wear opposite my other watches so that I can get the best of both worlds!
Bro I just got the series 8 stainless steel 45 mm with cellular! It’s basically the same watch as the ultra just 4 more mm smaller and less battery life! Literally everything the ultra can do I can do with my series 8 SS! Unless your diving to 100m or encounter wild animals you don’t need that watch! Also I appreciate the fact that the stainless looks good with dress clothes and will have you! The ultra looks like a garmin with Apple capabilities! And that action button was just a selling point you can go to anything you need if you can wait like an extra second to pull up the app! Lmao enjoy the watch tho guys!
Sounds like the series 8 is as perfect for you as the ultra is for me lol! Gotta go with what makes us happy in the end and the design of the ultra really got me and I love titanium so it worked out well😁

A apple watch or any kind of smart watch ⌚ will never be on my wrist a phone is more than enough . All I see 👀 on people's wrists are smart watches I remember a time when Seiko Skx were all over the place. It's just not something I wouldn't get enjoyment out of and be like everyone else. I don't give 2 shits about the functions. I'll stick with my Explorer 1,Seiko prospex SPB153,Submariner 14060m and soon to be Sinn 144stsa. It's really refreshing to see something besides a smart watch on someone's wrist
yeah I'm not much of a fan of the original apple watch so thankfully this one is as different as can be! For me having the apple watch is helpful bc now I don't need to keep my phone with me all the time, the watch gives me the basics without the extra distractions!
Because it’s a good watch! You can try to be as different as you want but there’s a reason why no one is seen in a Samsung watch! And if they are no one cares
The ultra makes it so I leave my phone alone and only roll with my watch..way better

It’s amazing. I’m a triathlete, and until last week I was happy with my Garmin FR 955 Solar. Now I’m sad, because I think that I’m selling it. This Apple Watch is just amazing!
Awesome to hear from someone who would actually use the Ultra for it's intended purpose! I know what you mean by feeling sad about maybe selling a great watch lol but just know you'll be in good hands with the Ultra (not that I've tested it in triathlons😅)

I have both the galaxy watch 5 pro and AWU. I used to have an iPhone but went Samsung for the Fold 4.
I'm very resistant to buy one as I know if I do it will make all my conventional watches redundant :(
looool I know that feeling and I'm worried I wont be able to switch back😂 However, for me I know that soon enough I will want to wear my real watches and feel a bracelet on my wrist! (But i might have to buy a super cheap apple watch to wear on my opposite wrist lol!)

Last year I bought my galaxy watch 3 classic mainly for work. I look at it no different than buying a g shock tbh. I carry it with me, use it at work and switch watches after my shift.
i guess to each their own bc i love wearing my gshocks because they offer such a different experience from all my other watches! This Ultra does the same thing for me, but maybe if it was for work it would put a damper on it lol

Yeah that's very much the way I was before, I never really saw the point of a smart watch but the utility as a tool is actually adding to the allure of the Ultra! It'll be hard to not have all the work out stats when wearing a normal watch for sure, so maybe it's time to double wrist it lol! Thanks for the support😁

I have a love hate relationship with the Apple Watch. I love the display that lights up at night (I work outside at night). I like the weather widget and the ease of strap change.
What I don't like: It needs a charging cord/station, its a rectangle, the crown is easy to pushdown inadvertently, the watch has no heft and therefore no durability (I cracked the corner after a month and had to buy a protective case in order to protect the whole watch).
The utility of an apple watch is great for sure so it sounds to me like you need to get the Ultra! Other than the charging and it being a rectangle, the crown guard makes it much harder to inadvertently push in the crown and then it's miles more durable than the standard apple watch. Check out iupdate's torture test, the screen never cracked and a lot of it was down to the bezel!
The world timer on my Apple watch scratches the itch until I figure out what I want and having the funds to buy it. Right now, I think I will go the vintage route for a worldtimer.
Yeah the world timer dial is really awesome just to see the dial move around and to get the look, for me that's about as much as I need! But yeah there are some pretty amazing world timers in the vintage world!

To each their own but I wouldn't be able to stomach paying 1-2k or more on a smart watch! The Ultra definitely won't be lasting forever but lots of people tend to use apple watches for quite a few years without issues which sounds pretty good to me for a gadget!

It’s become my everyday watch even though I have 23 others, including 12 G-shocks. 😂 But, the reason I’m responding is to tell you I still have my series 3 (stainless) and it has NOT had any problems whatsoever, including the battery. I don’t see it as obsolete or out-of-date. Sure, technology has advanced, but my series 3 still perfectly performs the tasks that it was designed to perform. The Ultra is essentially a wrist computer and will someday need to be replaced as any computer will. But, do we stick with typewriters to avoid obsolescence? Nope. I love both “regular” watches and smart watches. I don’t understand the division and anger that smart watches tend to bring out in traditionalists. Rather random, but there you have it! 😆
My man….. this watch here is the jay-z of Apple Watches. It’s incredible. I don’t have to charge it everyday, it’s built like Arnold Schwarzenegger coked up on steroids and it does EVERYTHING. Then other Apple Watches is toys in comparison to this. Apple didn’t come to play on this. I love mine!!!!!!!

I had the same reaction when I got my first AW. It was amazing. But after about a year I realized all that functionality is a pain in the ass to manage. I still wear my AW at work, but have had a change of heart. I like my traditional watches better.
@T H yeah it's entirely possible that the novelty of the Ultra will wear off quickly but given the design I think it'll hold up well. That being said I definitely will want to wear my other watches in due time so I'm actually considering getting the SE to wear opposite my other watches so that I can get the best of both worlds!
Bro I just got the series 8 stainless steel 45 mm with cellular! It’s basically the same watch as the ultra just 4 more mm smaller and less battery life! Literally everything the ultra can do I can do with my series 8 SS! Unless your diving to 100m or encounter wild animals you don’t need that watch! Also I appreciate the fact that the stainless looks good with dress clothes and will have you! The ultra looks like a garmin with Apple capabilities! And that action button was just a selling point you can go to anything you need if you can wait like an extra second to pull up the app! Lmao enjoy the watch tho guys!
Sounds like the series 8 is as perfect for you as the ultra is for me lol! Gotta go with what makes us happy in the end and the design of the ultra really got me and I love titanium so it worked out well😁
