- Here you will find a demonstration of how to install some simple mods for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on the Android platform. The video demonstrates the mods on a Shield Android TV, but they should work on any Android device.

Tip: Remember to unpack/Extract the mod, before putting it in your Override folder.

Don't know if this is of any use to you now but the jedi from the start mod can now be used via the override method

I've done everything you said too in your video, and it didn't work, this is very frustrating
So it takes forever and is super tedious but you actually can install the BOS mod without a PC, you just gotta manually copy and paste EVERY file(theres like almost 8K of em) into the folder in which they belong. It took me about 2.5 hours but I managed to get it installed and running with just the 7zip app on my phone

Kotor 1 Restoration, that's a good mod. You'll probably have to install it onto a pc first (it's got an .exe file for installation), then copy the override and modules folders over to your Android device. I've got a video tutorial on it if you need help.

I put crossgaurd and revan armor in overide folder in it hope it works
I downloaded jedi from the start, this mod, and Revans long saber. How do I make all 3 work and what order do I add them to my override folder? Thank you for resolving this for me 😃
Crossguard Lightsabers mod is pretty much incompatible with other lightsaber mods. Jedi From The Start and Revan's Longsaber should work together, though - I think :)

Thanks for this. I've recently started playing KOTOR on android. (sadly I don't play games on a PC) Are there any more simple to install mods such as this? I don't have the ability to transfer between PC to tablet. So simple things such as this was a must for me.
There are MANY more mods you can install. If you head to the www.nexusmods.com/kotor you can see what's available. You wouldn't want anything that uses an installer, though. Only use the mods that tell you to dump the files in the override folder.
Negative Zero I'll have a look. Are there any recommendations you'd suggest? At the moment I'm just playing through the game as normal only with cosmetic mods such as this one. And a few character skin alterations.
I love the female jedi robe model, movie character jedi robes (for the guys), and invisible headgear mods. Also regeneration and the no sith fighters minigame mods. I'm also experimenting with some different texture packs for the planets. Check out my Modding Korriban video to see two of those.
Can i so use every other mod. For example Brotherhood of Shadow, Revan's Items ....?

What do we do if when we extract the file there is tsl patcher data ( I already put that in the override file) and a source file, what do we do with the source?

Tons, Zombarg. More than I can list here. Go to deadlystream.com or www.nexusmods.com/kotor/ and browse. Anything that does not use an installer (TSL Patcher) should work fine going straight to your Android device.

I was fucking wrong,I managed to get the cross lightsaber in specific locations, pretty cool,I put a lot of mods,but my favourite is Erasto Lightsaber,is more long,there is a lot of Mods pretty cool.

Okay, I've been trying to do this for a week now. I can not for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Are there any mods that are direct to Android that will work immediately so I know I've done it right?
Well, there are two categories of mods: TSL Patcher mods (that use a .exe installer), and everything else. Pretty much anything that does not use an installer will work fine by placing the mod files in the Override folder as I demonstrate in this video. This method is fine for installing just a few, simple mods. Multiple mods with files that overwrite each other will cause problems.
One simple mod to try is the New Soldier Clothing mod. It replaces the starting soldier clothes with a Republic uniform. Install the mod and start a new game. It will quickly become clear if you've done it right.

"Revan Canon Head" is the name of the mod, I think. It's in one of the other modding kotor videos.

Can you do "Start as a Jedi" without PC?
No, since it's a TSL Patcher mod. However, there is a "Padawan" mod that may just have you put files in the override folder. I've never tried it, but you should be able to google it.

It does have a little bugs, like you don't CHOSE a Sentinel, Guardian, or Consular, you just choose Scout, Soldier & Scoundrel, it still worked just fine!
That's not a bug, you choose jedi class later in the game

Hi. I can find my KOTOR folder but it doesn't have a Save folder. Has something changed?? I created an Override folder and installed an unpacked mod..didn't work .

I have a brand new Google pixel 3 XL, I have done as instructed, watched for mods that say "put files in override folder" and NOTHING will work. I accidentally downloaded a robe mod for kotor2 and the icons did change but of course there was no content and that's about all the success I've had on my phone. I don't understand what's going on
Hey Damin, try installing a face replacer or clothing replacer mod so you can tell if it works right at the beginning. Make sure you're installing on sdcard0 or whatever your file manager calls internal storage. If that doesn't work, give me a few more details on what you're trying to install and what you've done.

do I need to have a lightsaber already in order for this mod to work? seems like none of the mods I've installed work. I've started a new game and I'm barely past the first mission.
You can pick up the crossguard lightsabers or the emitters they use only at certain locations and from certain merchants. Make sure to read the readme. If you're just starting it will take a little while.

Make one. You can do that easily with a file manager like ES File Explorer.

I'm very confused because I did everything you told me to do right but I can't buy the thing for the crossguard saber I'm trying to buy it from the dude on yavin and I don't see it what do I do

The cross guard mod requires a new game. I don't think you can get it to work with an existing save.

Bro this is a lie, not any mods that have u place it into override folder will not work for mobile, i tried many graphic mods and other mods that all it takes is to place into override folder and they DONT WORK
The mods must be Extracted/Unpacked before being put into the Override.
That was my mistake, I didn't unpack them.

hey i know its not the same but i downloaded the darksaber mod for kotor and it shows up and the hild model works but the blade is untextured blocks do you have any idea how to fix this ?
Is that the only mod you have installed? It might be a conflict with something else.
It seems pretty straight forward aslong as its an override file which i do have but when i copy the mod files to the data Overide file i just had to create it does not work when i load the game. Any tips? Maybe need to start game? But i tried the crossguard an still did not work when just loading back into my game.
For the crossguard lightsaber mod I think you have to start a new game for it to show up.
I downloaded start as jedi and it works. But every time I move files to override for this mod and start new game the saber looks the same. I was also wondering if this will work with Revans Longsaber mod? Does start as jedi conflict with Revans longsaber and this mod?
Revan's longsaber is placed on a Mandalorian on Dantooine so it won't replace the one you get at the start. From the mod:
"The placeable file (dan14_sherruk.utc) will put the saber on Sherruk's (Mandalorian with bad attitude) body once/if you kill him on Dantooine."
It should work fine with Jedi from the Start.

No, that is a large mod that is complicated to install.

You don't need a TV, it can all be done with a file manager on your Android device.

Zombarg, I don't think I understand your question. Almost all mods will be compressed - or zipped - when you download them. You'll have to unzip them to get to the mod files. ES File Explorer and many other file management apps will do that for you. To find some mods, just google "kotor mods".

Hello mate, I do have a problem.
I was playing on my mobile yesterday Kotor and I had to uninstall it and I wanted to install it from Google play but it shows me today that my device is not compatible Samsung Galaxy S8. Yesterday was everything fine. Any idea what's going on?
I had that happen with Bully. I wanted to download it to a different device and then suddenly none of my devices were able to download it. Which sucks when you've paid for it. No idea why these things happen. As for kotor, if the problem persists you might try the free version over on the Amazon App Store.

I'm not sure what you mean by extended content.

The method shown should work for any Android device. The user interface will just look a little different.

What file manager are you using?
Im using ES file explorer. I managed to extract the files and put them in the override file of swkotor in the internal storage. It doesn' t work for me 😒.

are there any good armor mods that u can think of off the top of your head for android without a pc?
There is a Bendak Starkiller mod that allows you to take his armor if you beat him in the Taris Arena, and a mod that makes Davik's (from Taris) armor upgradeable. That's all I can think of right now.

Do these mods work for the play store version of the game app? And does my phone need to be rooted?
Yes they work for the Google Play version, and no you don't have to be rooted.
Negative Zero I tried to get them from my phone(I have a Samsung Galaxy S8) but could get them to work for some reason. I used an app called Zarchiver to open the files once downloaded but couldn't figure out how to patch the mods in.
Watch the video again and make sure you're following all the steps and putting the override folder in the right place. I recommend using x-plore file manager since you can see inside zipped files with having to actually extract them. A good example of how to do it is here:

@PassionsQuietRage I recommend ES file explorer for this as it's way easier. For some mods, when you try to extract the zip file it says exception found! Radius out of bounds. In that case use Zarchiver only to extract the files

Negative Zero how will I know which ones will work with android though??? Some of them don't even work I've been to nexus mods and downloaded a couple files but they won't copy over to the override folder
The only ones that don't work are the ones that use tsl patcher. For those you need to install them on pc, then copy/paste the override folder to you Android device. Check out the KOTOR Essentials playlist on my front page for more info.

Can I install the brotherhood of shadows mod as shown here, or do I have to use a PC? Another question, do you know how I can only put the skin of Darth Revan in the game?
BoS can't be used this way, you need a PC. If you use KSE on a PC, you can alter the save to give yourself Revan's clothes, but you can't with just Android. There are a few mods that will give you Revan's clothes, but any mod that says to use console commands won't work with Android. You would need one that places the items in the game somewhere for you to pick them up.

Which mod are trying to install, Phillip? Some mods require a new game, but most will just work if you put them in the override folder.
Super skip taris, kylo ren saber, kylo ren mask. load up a new game super skip taris didnt work. kylo ren saber didnt work :P and some more mods.

Okay, a couple things:
1) Make sure you are putting the override folder in
/storage/emulated/0/android/data/com.apyr.swkotor/files
2) Super Skip Taris requires the use of the tsl patcher executable "Skip Taris.exe" If you don't install it on a PC then move the override folder to your android device, it won't work.
3) Kylo Ren's Mask mod requires you have the "Vanilla Mask Overhaul" mod installed, so make sure you install that first.
4) Kylo Ren's Lightsaber mod (which is different from the Crossguard Lightsaber mod in this video) requires that you beat the Sith Master on Manaan before you get it.
